Acceleration records, graphs and emails the iPod/iPhone/iPad accelerometer measurements.

The application is useful for measuring acceleration, velocity and distance resulting from motion along a single axis.

Up to 120K unfiltered measurements can be recorded from 1 to 100 samples per second and graphed while recorded.

Start to start recording measurements.

Stop to stop recording.

Send to send the recorded measurements as an email.

Samples/second rate set using the slider bar.

Calibrate to toggle zeroing of X, Y and Z axis values to ignore any effects due to gravity or other global acceleration of the device. With calibration ON, the initial one second of measurements are used to determine the average measure for each axis; for zeroing, the average is subtracted from each subsequent measure.

X, Y and Z buttons display the graph of the acceleration, velocity and distance measurements for that axis.

X, Y and Z axis values are displayed in real time by three progress bars and graphed.

Time slider scrolls through the X, Y and Z axis values measured at the time selected.

## Key features

- Record accelerometer measurements
- Graph acceleration, velocity, and distance
- Email recorded data
- Adjust sample rate
- Calibrate axis values

### 1/5 — Zombie app that barely works

*2018-11-03*

App obviously has not been updated in years, and most of the functionality such as graphs doesn’t work at all.

### 5/5 — Useful tool

*2017-09-03, version 1.1.2*

Not perfect but very useful. Exports a .CSV file via email but also allows you to view graphed data in the app itself. Recommended.

### 3/5 — Acceleration App

*2015-01-10, version 1.0*

3.5
Needs to store and retrieve data.

### 3/5 — No units.....

*2014-04-21, version 1.0*

Acceleration-speed-distance axis hasn't any unit.

### 4/5 — Nice

*2012-04-17, version 1.0*

The best of all the ones I've tried, primarily due to the ability to email the log (and with all 3 axis values). Nice options for viewing results, eg zoom in using start and end points.

One feature that would be really valuable, especially for paragliding, would be the ability to keep recording whilst the screen is blanked/locked (more battery life). This would make it a winner.

### 5/5 — Just what I needed

*2012-02-07*

Fantastic, bare-bones app. Plotting and FFT would be a nice addition, but it is fine as it is.

### 1/5 — Crashes continually

*2011-07-20*

It will crash every 30 seconds to a minute. Buggiest app i have ever used. Shocked it got through Apples quality control for the app store.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2011-06-02, version 1.0*

Just what I was looking for and it was free better than paying .99 cents

### 2/5 — Anon

*2011-03-06*

App is promising, crashes on graph page... Disappointing considering good software principles were not followed. Hoping for an update, will give more stars then.

### 4/5 — Nice!

*2010-10-04, version 0*

Great app.

## Frequently asked questions about Mobile Science

### What is Mobile Science used for?

Mobile Science records, graphs, and emails accelerometer measurements from your device. It's useful for measuring acceleration, velocity, and distance resulting from motion along a single axis.

### Can I record a lot of data with Mobile Science?

Yes, you can record up to 120K unfiltered measurements at a rate of 1 to 100 samples per second. The data can be graphed while it is being recorded.

### How does the calibration feature in Mobile Science work?

The calibration feature toggles zeroing of X, Y, and Z axis values to ignore global acceleration effects. It uses the initial second of measurements to determine an average, which is then subtracted from subsequent measures.

### What devices does Mobile Science support?

Mobile Science is supported on iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices. It was released on 2010-09-21 and last updated on 2017-03-14.

### What is the age rating for Mobile Science?

Mobile Science has an age rating of 4+, making it suitable for younger users interested in educational science applications.

### How often is Mobile Science updated?

The app was last updated on March 14, 2017, with version 1.1.2. While updates are not frequent, the core functionality remains stable for its intended educational purpose.

### Does Mobile Science have ads?

No, Mobile Science does not contain advertisements. It is a free application developed by Indiana University.

### What is the user rating for Mobile Science?

Mobile Science has a user rating of 3.3 stars based on 3 ratings. This suggests a mixed but generally positive reception from its user base.

## Version history (last 2 releases)
