System *2023-04-11, version 8.25* The company who made this app Heartland says this is a P.O.S. system but it’s truly just a P.O.S. app. They hang up, literally, on you if you call the customer support line and all ways to contact them outside of the hotline go to dead links. ### 1/5 — Terrible, won’t send confirmation code to let me create an account *2022-12-27, version 7.56* I’ve tried multiple times, this app asks for your phone number to send a verification code and when typing in my number no code is ever sen and so I can’t even create an account. I’ve asked it to resend the code multiple times and does not. I’ve tried it on my wife’s phone as well and it does not ever send a code. I have an iPhone 13 Pro and running the latest iOS. I wanted to get the app because several restaurants I go to often say to use this app to get customer reward points and I can’t. The restaurant said they’d contact MobileBytes. No response even after following up. Don’t waste your time on this app. ### 1/5 — App is actually broken *2022-10-02, version 7.51* Whenever I redeem a coupon I EARNED from a restaurant, it ends up changing my balance to NEGATIVE points so I have to earn double the amount of points just to catch up. Let me pay in a web browser ### 1/5 — PLEASE update! *2025-07-17* My coffee shop uses this app and I hate it for them like I wish they would change. I don’t understand why they don’t change. This is the worst app. It’s constantly logging you out, glitching during orders, It doesn’t hold your payment information anymore. It doesn’t offer any other kind of Apple Pay or other sources of payment it’s painful so painful. I would like to be able to easily link my card in my Apple Wallet but that is not an option. It sent me two different confirmation codes to verify my account. I would happily use this if I could check out as a guest or at least have a Apple Wallet/Google Pay option ### 1/5 — This App Falls Short of the Bill *2024-08-01* From a user experience standpoint and integration with real time payments at local establishments, this app falls short of the bill. There is no integration with apple wallet and with any stored information on your phone therefore requiring manual input of every piece of information. There are TWO different points of verification - from your email and your phone number (which again, does not even auto populate correctly because it requires the numbers to be inputted without punctuation) and the process is slow and labor intensive (for an app). There are many better ways to pay for a bill - this app shouldn’t be one of them until/unless there is a major overhaul. ### 1/5 — MobileBytes app is the worst! *2023-11-29, version 8.61* I wrote a review about this useless app a few days ago but it’s not showing up. Hmmmm wonder why? Don’t waste your time or space on your phone for this totally useless app. Every time I try to use it I get an error message, and the section they call “Help” is no help whatsoever. Useless! ### 1/5 — Still buggy *2023-09-08, version 8.36* I just downloaded the app today. It’s definitely still buggy as most of the reviews for the past several years have stated. It took awhile to get it account set up. Then I tried to scan the code from the restaurant and it didn’t work. Invalid code. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Nice way to interact with local restaurants. *2018-12-21, version 2.29* The app works great for getting loyalty points and online ordering. I love the “scan to pay” feature, so I can pay my tab without having to wait for a server to take my credit card, then wait for them to bring it back. (The app is used by many different restaurants, and it’s up to the restaurant to turn some features off or on, like loyalty or scan to pay.) Ps - those of you who can only scan your receipt for points once a day: talk to the restaurant. The restaurant can choose how many times a day you can scan... it’s not an issue with the app. ### 5/5 — Update: I’m LOVING scan to pay! *2017-10-27* Been using the app to earn rewards at my favorite restaurant for a while now. It works great and is fun to use. Now that they’ve added scan-to-pay, it’s easy to get up and go without flagging down a server. I’ve never seen this technology at a restaurant before, except for Starbucks... very cool and I can still tip my server, too. ### 4/5 — Update needed blocked use. *2018-06-01* Would be nice if it didn’t require you to do the updates before continued use. Too many steps to get to rewards. One solution would be to implement a way to add restaurants to a Favorites list. That way you could tap on frequently visited businesses and see your rewards without having to search for them. Other than adding the new account sign up function (presumably to sell our information as a revenue source), there haven’t been any improvements to the app based on user feedback. That leaves me wondering if the app really works, or whether it is designed to be used only for the city I may never visit again.
