## What is MobileFlare?

MobileFlare (Mobile Flare) is a free safety alert app for crowded events. If something goes wrong - a medical emergency, a personal threat, dangerous crowd pressure or dehydration - flash your phone screen in the appropriate colour to signal for help.

No shouting required. No signal required. No searching for a steward in the dark.

Just hold a button. Hold your phone up. Help comes to you.

HOW IT WORKS
------------------------
Open MobileFlare (Mobile Flare). Four buttons. Press and hold the one that matches your situation. Your screen flashes at full brightness in the correct colour. Hold it above your head. Anyone who can see it knows exactly what you need.

RED :: Personal Safety / Assault
YELLOW :: Crowd Pressure
GREEN :: Medical Emergency

BLUE :: Water Please (calm static screen — non-flashing)

Signals flash at different speeds as well as different colours, so they can be identified by rhythm alone. This helps users with red/green colour blindness distinguish between signals clearly.

Help friends find you in a crowd. Pick a colour from the new spotlight sub-menu and hold up your screen: a solid, non-flashing colour will help you stand out. Colours are distinctly different from the emergency colours.

WHY IT'S DIFFERENT
------------------------
→ Works with no mobile signal, no Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth
→ No registration, no account, no login, no tracking
→ Zero data collected - we don't know you exist
→ No adverts, no in-app purchases, free forever
→ Instant to use - under a second to activate
→ Maximum screen brightness during activation
→ Forces portrait orientation - works in any grip
→ Dark interface designed for venue environments

FOR PARENTS
------------------------
Young people attend more live events than ever - often without adults who would know what to do in an emergency. At a sold-out standing concert, ambient noise can exceed 100 decibels. Shouting for help won't carry more than a few people in any direction.

MobileFlare (Mobile Flare) gives the instinct to reach for a phone, somewhere useful to go. Show your child, friends and family the four colours before their next event. That thirty-second conversation could matter.

ABOUT MOBILEFLARE (MOBILE FLARE)
------------------------
Built by one person, a father of daughters. Based on personal experiences of seeing emergencies unfold at live events, no-one knowing how to correctly attract attention, and witnessing how long it takes to locate someone who needs help in a crowd.

MobileFlare is free. It will always be free.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-04-27

Since 1.0.1, MobileFlare has had two significant updates.

In 1.0.3:
A new onboarding screen guides every user on responsible use the first time they open the app. The Blue signal has been reimagined as Water Please - a calm, static screen for use when close to a barrier and within sight of staff.

In 1.1.0:
Signals now flash at different speeds as well as different colours - Green is slowest, Yellow is medium, Red is fastest, making them distinguishable by rhythm alone, helping users with red/green colour blindness. Text on all signal screens is now larger, bolder, and consistent in size, with signal colours reflected in the text itself. The button order now follows the UK traffic light sequence: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue. Crowd Crushing has been renamed to Crowd Pressure following user feedback.

Also: a share icon on the main screen lets you display download QR codes so others can easily get the app.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-04-26

Introducing responsible use guidance on first launch. Water Please mode replaces the Blue signal for use when close to barriers and in sight of staff.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-04-11

Share feature added - tap the share icon on the main screen to display download QR codes for others to easily download the app.
