### 2/5 — In light mode, what you type to sign in is invisible

*2025-12-20, version 2.1.5*

It’s extremely annoying to have an app that only lets you use the landscape orientation when you have a keyboard attached to your device it means you have to sit that device on its edge and use your keyboard sideways. If you only have one charging port, you have to sit your iPad on top of your charging cable I mean what happened to the PDR this is crazy. Also, the app would not communicate with my passwords app almost worthless.

### 2/5 — Unreadable when dark mode is iOS default

*2024-05-23, version 2.1.3*

The app would be fine if it could be read. It is not properly configured to display in dark mode. The text does not turn white on the dark background when the iOS dark mode is activated as the default display setting, so the app presents black text on a black background. The developers have had more than a year to respond to this issue, and they simply have not.

### 2/5 — No dark mode in UI

*2024-05-14, version 2.1.3*

No dark mode please add

### 3/5 — Great resource, but….

*2024-05-11, version 2.1.3*

This app is a great resource, as a medical student I can testify that it is extremely useful. I have a few gripes though, the app can be pretty buggy at times and also there is no option to switch the app itself from dark to light mode, I have to switch the setting on my phone in order to be able to switch it on the app. The premade dark mode “integration” is awful, the information is written in dark grey on a black background so it is very difficult to read. I don’t know if the development team abandoned this app or not, but if they could fix it, the app would be perfect.

### 2/5 — No Longer Identifies Pills

*2024-02-20, version 2.1.3*

This app stopped identifying pills a while ago. Now it says “No Result Found” For even the most basic medications.

### 3/5 — Dark background needs to go

*2023-09-09, version 2.1.3*

I can’t read anything due to the dark background. Is there a way to fix this

### 3/5 — Too difficult to read!

*2023-07-28*

Desperately needs an update to make the app more readable. Dark gray type on a black background is too hard on the eyes. If there’s a way to adjust the brightness, I haven’t found it.

### 2/5 — Concur with others about readability

*2023-03-20, version 2.1.3*

The color scheme “dark on dark” is virtually unreadable making the application extraordinarily difficult to use. Would not recommend

### 4/5 — Great app

*2023-02-25, version 2.1.3*

This would be such a great app to have if you could read it!
Update: switched my iPhone from “dark mode” to light and all is well! Can’t wait to use this more!

### 2/5 — Does not work with dark mode on iphone

*2022-12-25, version 2.1.3*

If your phone is set to dark mode like mine is, the text AND information are both dark and hard to read. On light mode i can read it, but i prefer to keep my phone on dark mode so this app is basically useless for me. Please update to make compatible with dark mode!

### 1/5 — Can’t be used

*2022-12-21, version 2.1.3*

The dark text on dark background make it useless. I looked for a solution, it is just an app mess up.

### 3/5 — Difficulty reading text

*2022-12-16*

I often have great difficulty reading the text information because it is dark against a similarly dark background. Thus, because there’s no contrast, the letters are faint and obscured. This has to be corrected. Sometimes the only way I can make out the text is to increase the screen brightness to its maximal setting. This certainly doesn’t help in maintaining the battery life of the mobile device especially if it is already at a low percentage of charge. Please help!!

### 4/5 — Excellent App, one minor inconvenience

*2022-12-13, version 2.1.3*

This app is amazing. However, I would like to see an update that allows me to be able to read the information without having to switch my iPhone (running IOS 16) to light mode.

### 1/5 — Might be ok except you can’t see anything

*2022-10-31, version 2.1.3*

It looks like the app would have some really great information. Unfortunately you can’t adjust the visibility settings so most of the information is too dark to read.

### 3/5 — Love the app, BUT!

*2022-09-19, version 2.1.3*

I absolutely love this app but I was super bummed after the last update you can’t read any of the sections because the background is black and the lettering is IDK what color but it isn’t white lettering. I can’t even read it. I have not found a better app so I hope the developer fixes this issue.

### 1/5 — DARK MODE PROBLEM

*2022-07-09, version 2.1.3*

The content itself definitely awesome. But the app itself need some fix.

In dark mode, the words are definitely too difficult to read. Please fix it!

### 1/5 — Too dark to read!!

*2022-07-07, version 2.1.3*

I used to use the app daily. It was great but now I can’t SEE anything once you have selected the med info. It’s too dark!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Background

*2026-03-29, version 2.1.5*

The background is black
I cannot read it.
At all. ( in Apple Dark Mode. )

I had to change my phone settings specifically for this app.

Somebody’s tech technology sucks

### 1/5 — Too difficult to read!

*2025-05-12, version 2.1.5*

Desperately needs an update to make the app more readable. Dark gray type on a black background is too hard on the eyes. If there’s a way to adjust the brightness, I haven’t found it.

### 1/5 — Doesn't seem to work

*2025-04-23, version 2.1.5*

I almost need to know the drug, to get it to find it.

### 1/5 — Why the black background?

*2024-03-01, version 2.1.3*

Not sure why the app would randomly have a black background behind the black text of the drugs. Guess what…unreadable. Please fix this bug.

### 1/5 — Too dark

*2023-10-06, version 2.1.3*

The background is so dark I can’t even read the text.

### 1/5 — Needs fixing

*2023-09-29, version 2.1.3*

Often illegible because the font and background become black on black
Too bad this classic reference has been allowed to deteriorate

### 1/5 — Bad

*2023-09-15, version 2.1.3*

After i upgrade i cannot read the description of the medication they will turn black on background.

### 1/5 — Could be useful

*2023-08-05, version 2.1.3*

I used to purchase hard copies of the PDR. I thought this app would be helpful and I suppose if the developers actually used the app, it could be as helpful as the print version. It’s hard to tell the utility of the app because the text is not legible. Dark text on a dark background does not make for easy reading - or for reading at all! So this renders the app useless!

### 1/5 — Garbage app deleted

*2023-04-30, version 2.1.3*

Can’t read any info because app contrast - absolute garage !

### 1/5 — Please fix so will work in Dark Mode

*2023-03-08, version 2.1.3*

With your phone in Dark Mode it is impossible to read the text in this app. Customizing via Per App settings does not help either.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-04-08, version 2.1.5*

I appreciate this app. Lots of great information at your fingertips.

### 5/5 — Useful

*2025-11-17, version 2.1.5*

No red tape, no subscriptions and a ton of the information I need as an ER nurse. Great work here 👏

### 5/5 — Great if you loved the PDR

*2025-03-02, version 2.1.5*

I read that the PDR text was discontinued around 2017, and after years of having it for reference, I was bummed. The later versions seem to had negative reviews, but I hadn’t actually bought the text in a few years. I think a lot of negative reviews of PDR information is that people want watered down material. I personally love that you always got pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics. Plus the information presented was detailed as a professional pamphlet that is included in literature. As far as I’m concerned, working in the field, this app provides the detail to truly know the drug if you’re unfamiliar. Compared to other free apps that simply give ridiculous info such as “antiemetic” and “used to treat nausea” with a basic dosing guideline of 4 or 8 mg every 6 hours as needed et cetera. This is providing you with detailed information about 5-HT3 antagonism, other chemotrigger explanations and various receptor interactions. I like detail and having free access at work on my phone is a plus. UPDATE-5/2/25 After some iOS updates the app is very glitchy when selecting a drug. Type dextro, select dextromethorphan and the app inserts dextrose. Sometimes it enters a new word that isn’t even a drug. I wish this app would receive an update that contains the same information but isn’t so poorly designed. Dare I say people would even pay a small fee.

### 5/5 — Reliable

*2022-06-27, version 2.1.3*

No annoying "updates" just fact on prescription meds. Quick, accurate description on machination of action, drug class & generic alternatives.

### 5/5 — Indispensable

*2020-12-24, version 2.0.6*

I use this app all the time. I’m a paramedic, and frequently find myself looking at a bag full of prescriptions in someone’s home. This is usually in the context of having to develop a quick differential diagnosis and treatment plan. Bring able to quickly look up a drug, see what it’s used for, side effects, doses, etc is tremendously useful. It’s also a great resource for gaining a deeper understanding of the drugs that I carry on the ambulance. Every EMT should have this on their phone!

### 5/5 — Terrific App

*2020-04-20, version 2.0.6*

Thank you so much for your efforts making this amazing app, it is really helpful and user friendly, I wish I could support you by something !

### 5/5 — Great!! Updates keep it current as opposed to books!!

*2019-12-27, version 2.0.6*

I highly recommend this app! Beats carrying a book around. I luv that the updates are given as soon as you open app up. That’s another plus!! Just shared it with my niece... future RN... to show her the convenience and ease again vs book.

### 5/5 — Drug Scheduling?

*2019-09-08, version 2.0.6*

Only complaint is there is no way to visualize the scheduling of narcotics. This is important for students! PLEASE consider adding this, because I would rather keep this app only, as opposed to referencing an additional app for this missing information! Oh! Also, create a tab for related drugs upon lookup.

### 5/5 — Nurse Practitioner

*2019-08-22, version 2.0.6*

Agree 100% with previous commenter, Orlaam. I too am old school and must have detail, do not consider any drug information “too much” or “not useful.” We all should have a deeper knowledge and understanding of these medications and how our patients’ systems may respond to them. I too miss the old texts, “the Bible’s”- having all the data before you, but maybe the APP, with the ability to enlarge the text, is better for my old eyes at this point! Thanks!

### 5/5 — Good info easily searched and categorized

*2019-07-04, version 2.0.6*

Has some fundamental technical issues with access. Is very frustrating if info is needed for a med and access unavailable!
