I had big hopes for the “X” version to give a new user experience and for a few limited devices it sure did. For example thermostat function is great and dimmers control, love that. The negative part is that I cannot find a way to see my door sensors. My garage door control also shows up as a door lock and no way to edit this or change icon. I like to shop around for specific zwave devices and ISY994 does a great job of integrating those but this app doesn’t..unless I miss something!? In the HD app I have set notifications when doors open and close but since this “X” app will not even display any of my door sensors I have no clue how to set status change notifications. I could go on but as I see it it’s not worth the cost yet for this app service as I see it’s far from ready to integrate fully with ISY994 regardless of tier level. Happy that I was refunded the cost for the app. Will stick to what I have for now and monitor the development of this one. Great start anyway in integrating with so many other platforms but now the UI needs some TLC. Thanks! ### 5/5 — Great app *2020-03-03, version 1.20.2* We’ve had automation in our house for over two decades and this is by far the best app I have used. ### 5/5 — Great new feature! *2020-02-21* I love that MobiLinc has within the app the ability to suggest new features and the user base votes on what they want. And MobiLinc actually does them! They just added the option to take and upload pictures of your various rooms so you can assign them to your different rooms. This is much more helpful than previous versions where each room was the same picture. Keep up the great work Wes! **Developer response:** Wow! Thank you Kohlerjesse for your kind words and review! ### 5/5 — Advanced Home Automation *2020-02-16* MobiLinc X is Great” and continues to grow every day, it’s one of the most advanced app I ever used for my ISY-994IR-Pro it’s direct connect to the ISY saves all your changes from making a program or a scene. The app is well planned out it’s beautiful, easy to use, understand and with the latest update Room Photos adding your “home photos” make it more personalized, and it receives updates with new features that are asked for, and voted by us the paid subscribers, the developer Wes has always been the best to work with and quick to respond. I recommend this app Perry **Developer response:** Thank you so much for your kind words! ### 5/5 — Best MobiLinc ever! *2020-01-14, version 1.19.2* I have been a Mobilinc user for many years and absolutely love MobiLinc X! It provides for an easy interface between the ISY device and any other devices. Adding new devices is extremely simple and programming them to act to your specifications is a snap, now. Well done! ### 3/5 — Currently less configurable than older versions *2020-01-10* More aesthetically pleasing than older Mobilinc versions, quicker controller response, but apparently not currently as configurable. For instance, how do I place Programs in specific rooms? How do I get lawn sprinkler programs to show under Irrigation? How do I change icons for a program that activates my alarm? The old version allowed configuration over all of these elements. I have a very useable Dashboard in the old version, although it looks quite dated. I’ll need to stick with the old version for now. Be sure to test that the new version works for your situation. I would’ve tested more thoroughly if I was allowed to re-test v.X after it’s latest update. We need to be able to test more than on the first initial release from over a year ago if features have been added and bugs have been fixed. Thank you to Apple and the developer for refunding my purchase when I discovered the app wouldn’t currently be suitable for my needs. I am sure the developer will update the app to address some of my concerns. I hope to be able to test it again in the future and possibly re-purchase it if it works for my use case scenarios. **Developer response:** I responded to your support email already but for other's reading about these concerns: I took a different direction with MobiLinc X to solve the start-up time and eliminate the need to sync with the ISY every time you start MobiLinc X plus real-time settings sync between all your mobile devices. I also focused on the most common use-cases and products for those use-cases. You can configure the Home Tab under Settings->Current Account->ISY to turn off Recently Used for example if you don't find that section useful. You can tag any device, scene, or program as a favorite. However, yes, currently the order is fixed A-Z. I'm working on a drag and drop solution to allow for re-ordering of favorites. Icons are currently fixed. Offering different icons is on my to-do list. Changing categories or assigning programs/devices/scenes to a category or room wasn't supported in any older version of MobiLinc. I'm working on a category assignment option for items to move around to the different category cards. This would be a new feature, not something that was supported before in a previous app. If you have any questions, please feel free to respond to my support email or email directly at support@mobilinc.com ### 5/5 — Constantly Getting Better *2020-01-09, version 1.19.2* I’ve been a loyal fan and MobiLinc user for several years now. One thing that I have noticed is that the app developer is constantly making improvements to better the program. The new MobiLinc X app has a cleaner and more modern look and feel with simple controls that anyone can use. MobiLinc X works seamlessly with Alexa and voice control. Plus it’s really comforting to know that any questions or comments about using MobiLinc X will quickly be answered by the developer. ### 2/5 — Over priced and can’t make a program *2020-01-01, version 1.19* This is very overpriced. And you can’t make a program from the app. Still worthless. ### 5/5 — Best mobile app for ISY users *2019-11-26* Using an ISY home automation control is “I think” the best out there for your more savvy user. ...and MobiLinc got to be the best Mobile app out there to control it! I have used MobiLinc Pro for seven years having basically my entire house integrated. All lights switches, outlets, thermostats, garage door, exterior door locks, and all window shades! I was VERY pleased to see continued development with new MobiLinc X. I’m excited for future new features being added as well with existing. My favorite is “Custom Buttons” ...now I can take any of my programs and turn them into buttons with any number of controls. Example, my window shades (Somfy Motors) are controlled via a program (in order to send a network command). e.g. “Run Then” for “Open”, “Run Else” for “Close” and another program for “Up”. Now with custom buttons I can make this all transparent and “nice” under one button with three different actions! Super cool! I’m glad to see significant investment in this app. While I’d like to see a few other/more features this by far is the best app and fullest features app for controlling ISY out there! The new Mobilinc X is so easy to maneuver through and much faster than the old Mobilinc HD. I have 2 homes and have been a user of Mobilinc for over 6 years and now I can see and utilize both ISY’s in Mobilinc X with a simple push of a button. He has made this software extremely user friendly with pictures and colors so you can never get confused as I occasionally did with Mobilinc HD. The Best home automation software available. **Developer response:** Thank you, MSR-1! ### 4/5 — X vs HD *2019-09-29* I know this is the new version, however it is not as visually pleasing as MobiLinc HD. It would get 5 stars if X would have been as good as the HD version. It does seem that the X version is more responsive and I love being able to vote for newer features. The app never recognizes my ISY system (tried 2 different units), support comes of as responsive but the reality is it’s a standard response with useless information. Do not waste your money. Avoid. ### 1/5 — Downgrade to Subscription? *2020-10-25* What am I missing? Seems just like a crappier app but with a subscription requirement. What are the actual enhancements that would justify such a thing? I’m okay with the subscription model in principle bit I expect value in return. Who is falling for this? Can someone explain why this is a better user experience? The older version works. ### 1/5 — $10/mo? Seriously? Deleted. *2019-12-20, version 1.19* Even that piece of cheap chinese plastic ISY-994i never worked for me. It just doesn’t work, my router cannot find it. Power, rx, tx LEDs are on and error blinking out of the box (but purchased several years ago, never turned on before). Slow development. ### 1/5 — Subscription Required!! *2019-05-07, version 1.7* BEWARE.... this is not an app and there are no “in app purchases”. It is a mandatory monthly subscription disguised as an app. Apple should classify these “apps” differently so we don’t waste download time. ### 1/5 — Requires pricey subscription *2019-04-24* I can understand a subscription is warranted for people who need/want a third-party service to help them get remote access to their home network. But if you use a private VPN and connect home that way, such a service is irrelevant, but you’re still required to pay a very pricey subscription for something you won’t use and don’t WANT to use. Will leave this app alone until it lets me stand alone. Would encourage the developer to offer a version with a reasonable one-time fee that maybe is locked to non-routable addresses. You’ll still make buckets of subscription money off of the masses. **Developer response:** Hi Akss2014, the subscription fee ranges in pricing depending on which features you’d like to have. The fee includes support for MobiLinc Connect which does enable anywhere access as well as Alexa, Google Home, IFTTT integration, notifications, and other cloud features. One of the major features included with MobiLinc X is instant on for command and control of your ISY, no syncing required, as well as real-time full settings sync between all your mobile devices. A stand-alone, one-time-fee app cannot achieve this level of integration or performance which is why MobiLinc X is a cloud-based, subscription funded product. The interface holds promise, but I expect that I will use my MobiLinc HD as I wait for: More intuitive button controls; better regulation of dimmer controls; simple on off of lamps without opening complex controls; Google Home interface, etc, etc? Is there a user buliten board that I missed? JohnH ### 2/5 — Looks nice but slow *2021-06-05* I have both MobiLinc hd and this app. The gain in the move to this app isn’t that great. I bought all the ad ons for this app and it’s ok. I really don’t think I gained anything from HD other than interface colors. My biggest complaint is speed with this app. I’m talking about on my home network. HD is instantaneous where this app is slow to refresh the status and slower to react than HD. I even bought a subscription because I was told that saving statuses on their server would speed things up. Nope. It is rare that I use this app away from home. It works with port forwarding just like HD does but even in this scenario HD is faster. I have a mesh network at my house that puts most to shame so that is not an issue. My impetus to write this review was just using the app 10 feet from a network node and I switched to HD after tiring waiting for the little dots to refresh the status of a switch. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Been using for years *2024-12-14, version 1.21.2* Great app. Stable. Needs a widget for IOS but the app evolves so I’m sure they will get there. Set up simple but if trouble support turnaround is decent. I used the previous MobiLinc apps and they served the purpose but this new update has not only simplified the user interface but expanded the options and access to things that used to require access to the Admin Console directly. It’s a fantastic update well worth the subscription for any of us who have spent hours making the ISY automate our homes. **Developer response:** Thank you, Eric! ### 5/5 — Best ISY 994i App *2021-01-14* Long time user of other MobiLinc apps (Orchestrated MobiLinc and MobiLinc HD) for control of my ISY 994i controller. The cloud performance of MobiLinc X is excellent compared to anything I’ve tried including direct connections. The support is quite amazing and was able to assist in some advanced Alexa configurations. The interface is beautiful, app works smoothly with almost no issues. This is hands down the best app to control an Insteon setup. Works perfectly with Alexa as well. Mostly control lights and AC with scenes, but the recently used tab and favorites make it easy to get to the devices I use most. Decided to try the MobiLinc X but at first a looked a little simple and plain so I wasn’t sure if I was losing functionality from the Pro version. Turns out I’m not and the Alexa integration is super fast. When I tell her to turn on my lights she responds very quickly and my lights go on really fast. Dev is great too.
