In a world of competing cameras like Nest with great iOS apps, I think MOBOTIX needs to step up their iOS app to match the superior hardware. ### 1/5 — No push notifications is unacceptable *2017-04-11* The hardware is great, but not having push notifications is an absolute deal breaker. I have a customer who misses deliveries and calls because of this. It's simply not reliable enough, especially compared to things like Doorbird and Ring. The *only* reason I used Mobotix was because Ring and Doorbird don't offer a numeric keypad for a gate release (not yet anyway). ### 1/5 — Mobotix *2017-02-02, version 1.3* So far.. Waited months for installation, once installed... A HUGE mistake & disappointment. Never works! .... months later I still think it is HORRIBLE! ### 2/5 — Very poor software, Mobotix hasn't attempted to fix in years! *2016-09-13, version 1.3* The app works to view your cameras but thats about all it does. Mobotix knows very well the app is flawed and ignores the problem after we spend $1500 on the camera and sell to customers and then they ask US for a refund! The app does NOT properly ring when the T25 bell button is pushed, it will only ring if the app is closed and re-opened and quits ringing shortly after, it doesn't matter what version of iOS or on whatever iDevice, the software is seriously buggy. Mobotix the very least you could do is fix this for those of us who invested in hardware you claim is superior, I'll admit I do like your hardware but you iOS code is written by amateurs it seems and they should stick to the KISS protocol instead of trying to be fancy at the expense of your customers. I have waited patiently for almost two years now along with customers and still no fix for the T25 alerts in iOS, you know its got nothing at all to do with Apple as other use notifications just fine. When the problem is truly fixed I will edit my review and give you the respect you deserve but until then you are being very disrespectful to your customers by ignoring this. ### 1/5 — Terrible designed app *2016-08-18* I agree with others, possibly the worse app ever. Great camera but poorly designed app, would not purchase again. You should not need to read the manual to be able to figure out basic app functions. I still dont know this stupid swipe thing, when you get stuck on playback. I have recordings over a year old but cannot seem to see what happened a day ago. Please fix this and get some beta testers that have not read the manual! ### 2/5 — Poor *2016-06-15, version 1.3* Mobotix like to boast they are a software company that happens to make hardware, which would come as a surprise to the uninitiated, as the hardware is so solid and the software so poor. This app suffers from being unintuitive and buggy, often requiring the repeated input of the same information. There is a user guide available from their website, but it is basic and suffers from what I assume is poor translation from the original German, so often is incomprehensible. It is a shame because there are some interesting ideas at work in places, but the UI really lets it down. ### 1/5 — As good as Mobotix cameras... *2016-05-28, version 1.3* In other words, unadulterated garbage. Unusable, diabolical UI that makes no sense whatsoever... which is something you'll be all too familiar with if you've had the misfortune of using a Mobotix camera's web UI or their equally terrible MX range of duff-ware. ### 1/5 — Very Poor *2016-02-28, version 1.3* Horrific user interface design with poor choice of icons, poor workflow design & buggy & unreliable software. Design team, please revisit the use-cases. Customer adds door station and how to simply configure notifications. What the app does well is allow viewing of Mobotix cameras. I have 4. That all works fine (if a little awkwardly). What the app does extremely poorly is (for example) integrate with a T25 Door Station. The T25 itself is a nightmare to set up (I'm a professional software developer with two degrees & 30 years experience). The T25 internal web browser config is highly unintuitive (why does my iPhone show up automatically as an event stream (why is there no "search for new devices" button?). How do I manually configure an event stream device? Do I need to? I can only see how to add an iPhone manually as an "IP Notify" device). The T25 shows up in the app, but sometimes I get a notification that I've pressed the door bell and sometimes I don't (that happens in both MXEasy & the iPhone app). I'm still trying to figure out why the iPhone only vibrates, and doesn't ring (yes I've checked the ringer volume and mute switch)... Highly frustrating. More work required. ### 1/5 — Don't Bother... *2016-02-27, version 1.3* App just doesn't work. Doorbell will ring 1% of the time, the rest it's just silence. Interface is horrible and doesn't make any sense. The system is Rock solid however it has a steep learning curve. This app is the same way. It is not easy to use and i need to provide a instruction manual to my customers. Most of my customers have complained that it is too difficult and unlike the iPad or iPhone it is hard to navigate and figure out the basics. I have to agree with my customers and say it is very difficult to understand. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2015-03-31, version 1.3* The UI is a disaster. There is no background push notifications and Mobotix said they have no plans of offering push notifications. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Hardly works *2019-08-29* What’s disappointing about this is that Monotix could have such great potential when it comes to their door stations. They look way better than the ring everyone uses. The features are way better than ring but this app is awful. Unless it’s open chances are you will not be notified when someone rings your doorbell. Why can’t you all figure out a way to have the notifications go thru each and every time. I’m on a perfect WiFi network or LTE and still can’t get some notifications. Don’t get me wrong I do get a few but it’s not reliable enough. Not like the ring door bell. ### 1/5 — Abominable piece of software *2019-04-22* I love Mobotix cameras. They have had Ring-like internal intelligence features for at least 10 years, and far exceeded anything out there in terms of versatility and adaptability to about any surveillance need. Their vision for intelligent cameras was far ahead of their time, and they packed a truly amazing hardware platform in one of the most well engineered piece of mechanical packaging i have ever seen. So: why a one-star review? Because i would offer 0 stars, if i could, for the most continually abysmal piece if software ever conceived my man. The Mobotix mobile app is the absolute worst piece if garbage possible. Hopelessly non-intuitive, useless icons, the worst navigation imaginable, and a user experience that makes you want to toss your smartphone through a closed window before you have figured out how to finish Setup. Just avoid the hassle entirely and use ANYTHING else, unless you just like to beat your head on the wall. Even the free version if Qcam is far, far, far, far, far, far better than this toad. Sorry, Mobotix, your user community has told you for years that everything you released after MxCC is just awful. BTW, I have eleven of your cameras and all work wonderfully with my Homeseer home automation app ( with absolutely zero help from your software). So thanks anyway for making great cameras. ### 1/5 — Terrible app. Get QCamPro for now *2018-12-31* They say they are making a new one but this one is terrible. I paid for something I should not have just because this was so terrible. Love their cameras. Hate this app. Hey developers download the nest app or ring app and get a clue. ### 1/5 — Frustrating, needlessly complex - Par for the Mobotix course *2018-10-21* As a dealer and CCTV installer I’ve suffered through Mobotix for years. Their hardware designs were unique at the time but their software has always been a convoluted mess. Everything is needlessly complex with no sane defaults. I hope you enjoy reading extensive documentation because Mobotix excels at it. For example: This app has a 37 page “Compact Guide” to get you started. There are sliders and buttons and drop down menus everywhere - I don’t know if it’s a German engineering thing but it seems like they just can’t get out of their own way and design a usable interface. It took years before they finally released an app and this is what they gave us. This app perfectly encompasses all that I’ve grown to loathe about the Mobotix platform. I despise using this app and dread showing it to a client. ### 1/5 — Background Updates *2017-08-01, version 1.4.1* This product has not been updated for years! It does not support push notifications! The app must be manually opened and left running in the background for it to work, which is useless! New version doesn't reconnect properly and only resolution is to delete app - doesn't work Also if you enter the wrong password you have to delete the app and reinstall Genius! ### 1/5 — Will fail with iOS 11 *2017-06-18, version 1.3* Terrible UI, cameras have terrible resolution, only 32 bit so will fail with iOS 11. Why in the world has this app not been updated In three years? Keep getting the msg that this will not work in the near future as this is a 32-bit app. Are you all waiting until the last minute to release a new one? Worthless piece of junk. ### 1/5 — Mobitix is Useless! *2017-04-14, version 1.3* Very high priced supposedly high end door station (t25). App doesn't work. Hasn't been updated in years and no help from this company. Look elsewhere! ### 1/5 — Intermittent *2017-04-14, version 1.3* Sometimes works but very often callers press the doorbell and nothing happens. There is no way you could depend on this for a business or security environment. The cameras are amazingly good and world leading technology and I love MOBOTIX cameras but they have really let me down with this app. I have all my settings correct and when it works it works well but sometimes my phone will ring, sometimes the iPad, sometimes none will ring and almost never will the phone and iPad both ring when someone presses the button. Thank you for your understanding! ### 5/5 — Old Issues - Resolved *2019-04-02, version 1.4.2* It looks like most reviews are bad but check the dates. I cannot comment on doorbell functionality but we use this app to provide remote viewing to staff and management for several hundred cameras across many different iOS devices with little to no issues. Admittedly not the most intuitive, and painstakingly slow to make any major configuration changes across the fleet, but it does what it says at least. ### 5/5 — Great app *2017-07-01, version 1.3* Takes awhile to learn all the features but it does a nice job. It does need an update! ### 5/5 — Powerful app *2016-10-07* Is it the easiest app to learn? NO. Is it probably the best app I have used for security cameras? YES! I've got NUUO and BOSCH systems and they don't come close. We have 48 cameras at 8 different locations and this system handles it with ease. Also there is such easy access to playback features it just makes it a very powerful app. Most difficult thing to learn is that the app recognizes different environments. Every different wifi your device connects to it will use default settings. This may or may not allow you to view the cameras. This means for each environment including cell you will need to toggle if it is remote or local. SSL on or off and if the camera is active or not, and this is for each camera. After that your device will remember the environment. Other then that the app is relatively easy to learn and far superior to others. For me this app is great. Good job MOBOTIX. ### 5/5 — Great App for MBX cameras *2015-12-20* I have two say that after reading some of the reviews, I was skeptical about how this was going to work. Well I can confidently say that the negative reviews are not fully informed or not familiar with Mobotix cameras/software. I found the app easy to setup 12 cameras in about 20 minutes. All are on a remote client site. The app and connection to the images was snappy and responsive, even in original quality mode. Playback from onboard camera microSD card was easy and fast - good responsiveness. Are some of the setup and control functions a little different than other generic apps, yes. But If you're familiar with Mobotix, you won't be disappointed. I'm very pleased. ### 5/5 — Rock Solid!! *2015-08-02* I have had several camera systems and by far this is the fastest and clearest response I've had from an app. Especially with the iphone 6 display, very impressive. Love it! ### 5/5 — Read the instructions, silly. *2015-04-16* Like Mobotix cameras, this app is full of awesome features, but to appreciate every detail, you MUST read the instructions. These are available from the Mobotix website. If you just start playing with the app, you are likely to become frustrated. Every time I thought I found a glitch in the app, once I read that section of the user manual, I realized how I was doing it wrong and appreciated the subtleties and functionality of the app. Did you know in the Player mode you could slowly search down to the second depending on how close your finger was to the search button? The farther away from the button you drag your finger, the more accurate the search. That's on Page 12 of the manual. Don't give up on this excellent app because you haven't really tried to understand it. Those German engineers put a lot of thought into it and it is almost as comprehensive as is their cameras. I have 8 of their cameras installed in my house and couldn't be happier with their technology. ### 5/5 — This app is phenomenal! *2013-06-28* Very well thought out and is very easy to use IF you know what you are doing. Maybe not for everyone but those looking for true VMS quality from iOS then this is your app. ### 5/5 — Excellent, Danke von Kanada *2013-05-17, version 1.1* IMPORTANT NOTE - After installing the App, go to your settings and disable cellular data usage unless you have unlimited data. I was faced with a 14 gig data usage bill after 15 days with 12 cameras constantly connected. - the app is also very memory intensive. Make sure your phone has the RAM I'm happy to see the official Mobotix App is finally launched. Even happier you took the time to ensure it was up to the Mobotix standards of quality and functionality. It was well worth the wait. I accidentally activated it and was sent notifications everytime there was motion. Awesome feature. - I really like the help tips and the slider between live playback and events. I can't wait to upgrade the camera firmware to unlock the added features. In 20 plus years in the security industry, I have NEVER found a product which I am as proud to represent as I am of Mobotix. ### 5/5 — At last, a working Mobotix App, Great Staff. *2013-04-12, version 1.1* What can I say, I've installed it & currently running this App on my iPhone & iPad & with no issues at all, and app does not Crash for me.
