## What is Mockingjay?

They can take your phone. Not your footage.

Mockingjay turns your iPhone into a secure bodycam. Every few seconds of video is encrypted and uploaded to your own Google Drive while you are still recording. If your phone is grabbed, smashed or confiscated mid-recording, everything up to that moment is already safe.

Built for journalists, activists, witnesses, domestic violence survivors and anyone who may need video proof of what happened.

WHY IT'S DIFFERENT

Normal camera apps keep the video on the phone. Cloud apps upload after you stop. Mockingjay uploads during the recording, so there is no gap for anyone to take away.

KEY FEATURES

• Live encrypted upload: footage reaches the cloud while you record
• Your own Google Drive: no Mockingjay servers, nobody else holds your video
• AES-256-GCM encryption, with keys protected by the Secure Enclave
• Emergency PIN: a second PIN that opens the app but locks this phone out of your recordings, while the cloud copy stays safe
• One-press start: record from the Action Button or a Shortcut without typing a PIN
• Share with someone you trust: send a private link, and the passphrase separately, so a family member, lawyer or advocate can open your recordings
• GPS location and C2PA Content Credentials to support where and when it was filmed (Pro)
• 480p, 720p or 1080p quality (Pro)

PERFECT FOR

• Witnessing a police stop or an arrest
• Documenting harassment, stalking or abuse
• Covering protests and breaking news
• Recording incidents with landlords, neighbours or on the road
• Anyone who needs video that survives losing the phone

PRIVACY

• Recordings go only to your Google Drive account
• Encrypted before they leave the phone
• No account with us, no footage on our servers
• You decide who gets a link

MOCKINGJAY PRO

Free: recordings up to 60 seconds, 720p, 7-day history.
Pro: unlimited length, all qualities, GPS and Content Credentials, full history.

Pro is a weekly or yearly auto-renewing subscription. The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase (after the trial, if you start one). Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel them in your App Store account settings.

### 3/5 — Help

*2026-03-28*

None of the sharing functions will work for me. The help documentation does not address sharing. The sharing is the whole reason I bought this. Instructions on how to contact someone for help takes me in circles. I need a direct email contact! Thank you.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the honest review, and I'm sorry sharing failed for you and that finding help sent you in circles. You can reach me directly at mockingjay@coders.wtf and I will sort it out personally, including a refund if you would rather have one. Version 1.2 adds a Contact Support button on the recordings screen and inside the sharing flow, plus clearer error messages when a shared folder can't be opened. - Torstein, developer

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.3 — 2026-10-24

NEW IN 1.2.3

• Contact support from the app now includes your app version, plan and a support ID, plus an app log you can choose to send. I can help you much faster, and nothing is sent unless you send the email
• Pro now follows your Google account, so it carries over to a new phone when you sign in

Questions? mockingjay@coders.wtf

### 1.2.2 — 2026-10-23

NEW IN 1.2.2

• Fixed: if the screen locked during a recording, the app stopped saving video but kept showing the recording as running. The screen now stays on while you record, and if the app does go to the background the recording is ended and saved properly
• Fixed: restoring or saving a recording could give you only the first part of the video. Restore now saves the complete recording, including recordings you made before this update
• Fixed: parts of a recording that were still uploading when you closed the app could end up in the wrong place in Google Drive, or not upload at all. They now finish uploading to the right recording the next time you open the app
• Fixed: one recording could show up several times in History

Questions? mockingjay@coders.wtf

### 1.2.1 — 2026-10-21

Small update: we now measure which of our own ads bring people to Mockingjay. Mockingjay never asks to track you and never reads your advertising identifier, and nothing about your recordings is ever shared.

Questions? mockingjay@coders.wtf

### 1.2 — 2026-10-16

NEW IN 1.2

• Share with someone you trust: send a private link to your recordings folder, and the passphrase separately. They can play your recordings in Mockingjay without a Google account
• Stronger encryption: new recovery passphrases are much longer, and every user gets their own key salt. Existing users upgrade in one step when they turn on sharing; older recordings stay readable
• Fixed: short pieces of video could go missing where one segment ended and the next began. Recordings are now continuous
• Fixed: after the Emergency PIN was used, new recordings could fail without warning. The app now tells you, and you can restore recording with your recovery passphrase
• Wrong PIN attempts now lock the app for a while after the first few tries
• New plans: weekly, or yearly with a 7-day free trial
• Contact support in one tap from the recordings screen and Settings

Questions? mockingjay@coders.wtf

### 1.1 — 2026-02-12

NEW IN 1.1: C2PA CONTENT CREDENTIALS + LIFETIME PASS

Prove your video is real. Mockingjay now embeds C2PA Content Credentials — a cryptographic signature that proves your footage was captured on this device and hasn't been tampered with.

• C2PA Content Credentials for video authenticity (Pro)
• Verifiable at contentcredentials.org or with Adobe tools
• Signed videos preserved through encryption and decryption
• Faster playback for signed recordings
• NEW: Lifetime Pass — pay once, unlock Pro forever ($29.99)

Plus everything you already rely on:
• Real-time encrypted upload to Google Drive
• Emergency PIN protection
• AES-256-GCM encryption
• GPS metadata (Pro)
