Mostly interesting subjects. From time to time quick build articles are very oversimplified and limited in value. The only downside is their pricing - they should really have monthly subscription available. The sequence of build photo's is particularly excellent too. All the contributors are absolute masters at their game,both in model making and expressing their technique,in easy to understand text. Think I prefer to paper especially on the iPad. ### 3/5 — Abysmal *2012-06-09* First impression of this app is desperately bad. I'm a paper copy subscriber who decided to renew electronically. I selected the free issue and paid for a 12-month subscription. After waiting for the free issue to download, when I tap "Read," my iPad flashes white and then goes black. Period. That's the interface to the free issue. Tap the screen and I get the text field "Page" and that's it. Swipe? Nothing. All I can do is tap the Home icon. Since the app knows my name and address, I figured it would know I already possess the issue it looks like they're prompting me now to download (they mailed it to me last week). So—assuming I ever get this app so I can actually see *some* magazine issue—it looks like the app will force me to buy this one issue twice. Painful. Poorly designed and poorly implemented. Bad experience. Tomorrow in the light of a new day, I'll see if I can get anything to work, or if I'll be spending time with the publisher getting my money back. ### 4/5 — Update for Retina please ! *2012-05-06* Nice Magazine, but needs an update for the new iPad display. ### 4/5 — Works fine on iPad *2011-11-09* I bought this app a while back, and I find it easy to use on the iPad - I can't imagine using it on iPhone! Takes a while to download new issues,but for me it's really convenient. ### 3/5 — Crashes Often on iPad 2 *2011-04-10* This application is a great way to read a good modeling magazine. After the update, it doesn't crash any more and is stable. One thing I don't care for is the animation demo that runs every time you open an issue. It's not a huge deal, but I wish they would change it to the first time you open an issue and then no more. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Useless app *2025-06-19* Downloaded thinking this was an app used for modeling your own plane but it’s only an app that makes you waste your money on stupid magazines about model planes ### 1/5 — Lost Issues After Last Update *2021-01-07* I lost 2 years of back issues after the last update. So far I have tried everything but no luck. The help desk has been not been any help other than to tell me to delete the app and reload it. Up until that time this was a 5 star app for me. I much prefer to read magazines on my iPad so hopefully the will be more “bug fixes” in the future. Until then I will not be supporting this app. ### 1/5 — These pocketmags apps no longer work *2012-11-06* I have bought a couple of these pocketmags subscriptions and now none of them work. I have complained to their tech support but just been brushed off. Look forward to read them. ### 1/5 — Back to the Drawing Board *2010-10-22* The metaphor of a paper magazine on the computer is one the publishing industry has been loath to let go of. It has led to piles of barely readable e-magazine applications cluttering up our Macs. This app continues this obsession, but tries to squeeze it down on to an iPhone. The result? Absolutely illegible and unusable. Excellent magazine in print, but until they 'get it' re portable devices like the iPhone save your money. ### 2/5 — Great content. Iffy app on iPad *2023-09-21* I love the magazine. But on my iPad it constantly crashes and I have to reboot. My iPad is about 7 years old. But other online mags work better. Maybe I need to upgrade. But that would be a couple of years budget for online magazines. In the past, access to such magazines was a challenge. I'm impressed with the content and presentation of Model Airplane International. The writing and photos are of appreciable quality. The only nitpick is the app often doesn't open successfully, leaving you on the splash screen. ### 5/5 — Good magazine *2014-08-25* Enjoy reading this mag,good clear pages,plenty of great articles and new stuff coming onto the market.
