### 3/5 — Decent app

*2024-01-23, version 24.1.1*

I’ve used the app for about a year and it has worked fine. My problem with it is that I can’t print the inventory. Or save it to anything. Well I opened the app up on my iPad, and it’s all gone. Everything is gone. I have an empty app on my iPad, and when I try to start over, I can’t see the categories I input. I don’t know what happened, and I’ll miss it, but on the iPad, it’s dead.
Update.
I tried to show someone the app and everything was gone.
No, I haven’t entered anything in it for awhile, but I occasionally looked at it because it had original information.
It’s not only empty, I can’t enter new information.
Probably because I had to sign in to do anything.
So I am assuming that they have deleted my account.
No big deal, my inventory has grown far beyond the capability of this app, especially since you can’t do anything but look at it.
You can’t save a copy on your own system, you can’t print anything, and you are at the mercy of the internet.
No internet, no access to your own data.
If you have a small amount of inventory, and don’t mind access only when you have internet, this app will probably work for you.

### 2/5 — Great idea “but”

*2018-06-21, version 24.1.0*

Adding a photo crashes the app. Prices default to dollars and there’s no way of specifying other currencies. More fields are needed like DCC decoder, epoch, running number.

I’m not sure why it forces you to create an account with your email address either.

### 2/5 — It’s a POC

*2018-02-17, version 5.1.6*

This is a very nice idea, but it is someone’s proof of concept, they got bored, and haven’t developed it. Not even rudimentary list management. The Swift meal demo functions better, and would be a better starting point.

### 1/5 — Can't add items!

*2017-04-15, version 5.1.6*

Clearly not being maintained as without the ability to add an item this app is pointless. Adding categories works fine. Shame as really want an model inventory app

### 2/5 — Crashes

*2017-02-11, version 5.1.6*

Have to add photos twice to get them to actually add to the inventory. Have to restart the app to view what I just added. The submit button doesn't work very well, have to hit it many times. When viewing items, sometimes there are duplicates of the items and then sometimes the duplicates just disappear as they should because they are duplicates. And the company doesn't seem to look at these reviews. I had to write them to get the last issue fixed with not being able to add the photos at all. They were very responsive and fixed it immediately, but now the app has even more issues then before.

### 3/5 — Add Items bug + a few enhancements to make this great

*2017-01-27, version 5.1.6*

I'm looking for an easy inventory app, and this looks nice. But after trying several times to add an item, it appeared they were not added, until I discovered a work around.

No error message; this version just stalls at the 'submit' stage. Adding categories worked fine and results came back quickly, so it appears the developers know how to make this work. Just apply the same logic to the Add Items feature, so it works the same as the Add Categories.

The workaround - after force quitting and relaunching the app, it turns out the items are in fact added (presumably to the cloud), but they do not appear until these steps are performed. This is unacceptable - it should not be necessary to force quit and restart in order to see the items you just added.

Enhancements: a simple "Air Print" of the currently filtered and sorted list would add significantly to the value of this app. An export function (to Numbers, Excel or similar) would also be a very good addition. While the app includes enough basic fields to be useful, some would like the flexibility to export and enhance their inventories in a spreadsheet. In addition, if there were a browser interface, it should make an export even easier and enhance the value further. And a really great feature would be the ability to import spreadsheet lists (OK I know this one is a stretch, but it's probably on everyone's wish list).

An iOS/Mac train inventory app is much needed and the foundation is here. Now let's make sure it works right and add a few very simple features to make it a real winner. I can't imagine it would take a great deal to make this a really good app. Hey Woodland Scenics, how about talking to your developer to fix the app and make the enhancements. You've got a lot of first class products - how about doing the same for this software product. It should be in your DNA.

BTW - I would happily pay for a really good train inventory app, so it doesn't have to be free (if that's the obstacle).

### 1/5 — Can't create an account

*2017-01-12, version 5.1.6*

The app is just returning a full screen long technical jargon error message.

### 2/5 — Latest update didn't fix much

*2017-01-09, version 5.1.6*

The December 2015 updated didn't fix much. I still have trouble with getting new items entered into the app. I've tried 1 item 3 times now and still can get it to enter. The second issue is it doesn't automatically sync to the copy on the web which it used to do when I first started using it. If it doesn't automatically sync, then there should be a sync button in the setting menu to force it. This could really be a wonderful app, if there was just a little more investment in time by the developer.

### 1/5 — Woodland senics model inventory

*2016-11-11, version 5.0.8*

I don't think it is necessary to have to log in to create a privat database. I will not use this product

### 1/5 — Sign in relevance

*2016-11-08, version 5.0.8*

Why are we forced to sign up in order to have a private database. Is it so they can use our information as an income resource. App erased.

### 1/5 — Utter rubbish - waste of a download

*2016-02-29, version 2.6.5*

Why should I have to signup or sign in to any service to keep a private inventory of valuable items?

The terms of service state that you collect and share ALL data, then you go on to force a signup and sign in to your service.

Sorry, not going to happen.

It is advertised as an inventory programs - shame on Woodland Scenics for endorsing this application.

### 1/5 — Unresponsive selections

*2015-11-16, version 2.6*

Initial trial of app reveals unresponsive selection wheels. Unable to change gauge and purchase dates. App seems fairly clunky to use as well. Not sure if I will keep or remove yet.

### 3/5 — Not bad but a bit buggy.

*2015-10-21, version 2.6*

After spending several weeks loading all my model train data into this program I can tell you that it has some bugs.

After inputting quite a few entries the program slows to a crawl. The only way to continue is for me to do a complete shutdown of my IPad and then a cold start. After that the program works great again for a while.

I don't know if it is because I am running an IPad 2 or the program is just buggy.

I still like it though and will hope for an upgrade.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — ?

*2021-11-29, version 24.1.1*

Not sure if there was an update or something, but I lost my complete inventory list. Not worth my time to reenter everything.

### 1/5 — Needs work

*2019-07-03, version 24.1.1*

Whilst an excellent idea, this app reeks of version number 1. Or less.
Repeatedly entering the same data is a mindless time waster - at least in Excel I can copy and paste.
Inability to even edit a category is frustrating.
Should be able to load multiple pictures for each loco or piece of rolling stock.
Also should be able to define the scale at the start of a collection - re-entering the same scale each time is tedious, for several thousand of items.
Support for Australian model manufactures (and other countries) could easily be preloaded.
Woodland Scenics is a respected brand in the model railway game - this app is not a representation of that earned respect.

### 1/5 — Up date didn’t work

*2018-06-16, version 24.1.0*

Your latest update did not fix the camera, when you take a picture and select use it shut down

### 1/5 — Leider nicht mit deutscher Sprache

*2018-05-13, version 24.0.10*

Funktion können nicht geprüft werden.

### 1/5 — v24.0.8 never loads

*2018-04-27, version 24.0.8*

Updated v5.1.6 to "cloud" v24.0.8. Now just an animated circle showing "loading.." but app never loads. Running iPad with v9.3.5. Very disappointed since I no longer have access to my previously build inventory.

### 1/5 — Didn’t work

*2018-03-07, version 5.1.6*

Nice idea and could be helpful to have, but couldn’t get it to add an item and kept crashing.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2017-11-11, version 5.1.6*

Tabs often don’t respond, loses data that you do manage to enter and continually crashes. A shame really, I had high hopes for using this app.

### 1/5 — Not useable

*2017-10-15, version 5.1.6*

Program crashes and you have to close the program to add any item. Using this program is tedious. An Excel spreadsheet is a better option for now. It would be nice to have a decent mobile inventory program... this isn’t it. Will be deleting it.

### 1/5 — Not stable

*2017-09-02, version 5.1.6*

This app needs to be fixed. Every time I add an item, it doesn't not show what I added. Also, when I delete an item, nothing happens, and it goes back to the home screen.

### 1/5 — GAVE UP

*2017-06-05, version 5.1.6*

Downloaded this app with great expectations but wound up deleting it after an hour of trying to make it work. No instructions. Kept having to renter the same info but the app just wouldn't take it. I'll find something else.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It does, what is needed - Es erfüllt alles, was es soll

*2023-04-10, version 24.1.1*

A neat little helper to get your collections organized. - Ein gutes Programm zum Verwalten einer Modellsammlung. PS.

### 5/5 — Finally!

*2016-10-13, version 5.0.1*

Great app, seems to have an issue, I cannot see my complete inventory.

### 5/5 — Excellent App!

*2016-04-27, version 2.6.5*

I really like this app for keeping tack of all the information on the trains in my collection. I can see at a glance all the little details of each piece. Excellent!

### 5/5 — It's handy!!!

*2015-02-12, version 2.6*

This app is really useful for keeping inventory on rolling stock

### 4/5 — App is good but apparently has its limits

*2023-03-27, version 24.1.1*

My entire inventory seems to have disappeared as soon as I hit 1000 items. I’m hoping this will be corrected.

### 4/5 — Works Just Fine For Me

*2021-02-14, version 24.1.1*

I don’t know if all the moaning about this app is device specific or people not using it correctly but it works perfectly fine for me. I can add categories and individual items within that category easily. The paste function is a tad clunky and I would like to see the photo of the locos from the main list but that is ok.
It does what I expect and want from the app.

### 4/5 — Growing pains

*2017-10-22, version 5.1.6*

Update 10/22/17: I use this on my iPad and iPhone. While I appreciate the fact my updates go to the Woodland Scenics cloud and are thus updated for both devices, I’ve had difficulty with the app properly sorting the inventory. That is, I elect to see just my switchers (one of the categories I created), but instead I get just the first of the three pages of inventory I have added, across all sorting categories. In addition, the app wouldn’t show me the inventory on page 2 or 3. I was starting to think this app was finally unsupported by Woodland Scenics.

But when I checked the app writeup I saw there had been several bug fixes, many in the last 30-60 days. I checked my updates in the App listing and didn’t see the inventory manager had ever been updated. I deleted and re-downloaded the app, then connected to the cloud. Now I can sort again, which for me is great. That is my chief need in using the app.

I am assuming the various updates to iOS just left this app in the dust when I didn’t get pushed updates. If you’re getting generally funky behavior, try deleting and re-downloading the app. See if that helps things to work better.

This is not a complaint, since I acknowledge that I pay nothing for a generally helpful app. After all, iOS is constantly updated and that means the app has to be adjusted as well--again, at no cost to me.

However, in the last iteration of the app, the problem with drop-down menus was fixed--and replaced by a bug which doesn't allow the camera to operate and take photos of the items inventoried.

I look forward to having that bug squashed soon. Otherwise, I am a fan of this app.

### 4/5 — Great app

*2015-10-09, version 2.6*

This is a great app for those of us who can't remember our rosters while in a hobby shop :) After the OS 9 update the drop down lists don't work but I'm hoping an update will come soon

### 4/5 — Good

*2014-02-16, version 2.6*

Helpful and easy to use.

### 4/5 — Very nice app!

*2014-01-25, version 2.6*

The best part about this app is the data transfers from device to device when you log in. You can add jpg images but not gif images. It's a gods app and has plenty of potential.
