This app is so useless & doesn’t load 3/4 of the time. they should really just delete the app or fire whatever morons made it. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2024-03-13, version 1.1.9* App literally does not work. Nothing populates and can’t upload pictures or change profile information. Literally opens and can’t do anything. ### 1/5 — The app doesn’t work at all *2024-02-12* Can’t go to profile, can’t upload, can’t do anything. ### 1/5 — tldr; almost entirely useless app *2023-11-26, version 1.1.9* After long use of the website I tried the app. I’ve found this: - so far the app has made me log in every time I opened it, whereas the website doesn’t do that + once in the app you can view your inbox - it appears to let you write new messages but fails to send them + it will let you check notifications and accept friend requests from that screen + the app gives you a preview of someone’s profile with a few sample images from their port - if you try to open someones full image gallery from their profile preview, the pop up overtakes the screen with no way to close it. You cycle through the images infinitely or you back out of their profile entirely to whatever page you’d previously been on - alternately if you try to proceed from a profile preview to view their full profile as linked, it just opens an in-app browser to take you to the web version of model mayhem anyway, defeating the point of having an app ### 1/5 — Hard to like *2023-10-25, version 1.1.8* They sure do make it hard to use, to like photos, navigate and find models from the email blasts, etc. They really need to go back to the drawing board, maybe with some folks that know how to make useful sites. As others have mentioned, daily the feed is glacial, I’ve seen the same three models for three months. Please step up the effort, or you’ll wither away. ### 1/5 — App seems to be in need of repair ? *2023-10-15* I typically use the Model Mayhem website but noticed the ‘like’ option on photos (according to some members) is currently only available on the app. The problem is the photos aren’t showing and neither are the follower/following on the profile. I’ve checked to see if this was due to needing an update but apparently the app is already up to date. I just want to be able to ‘like’ a photo on the website. ### 1/5 — This app is still being advertised???? *2023-10-10, version 1.1.8* I happened to check my model mayhem account and figured, let me check the app on the App Store to see if it had gotten any better. NOPE! It’s rated at 1.7!!!!!! Do you pay attention to what the reviews are saying? Apparently you’re not doing anything to fix this sloppy app. Are you proud of a 1.7 review??? Please just remove this app and find a developer who knows what to do and LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS! ### 1/5 — So much broken *2023-09-30, version 1.1.8* Sure. Apple blocks you from showing nsfw content but your link in app to see it links BACK TO THE APP!!! Then again your web site isn’t much better. Where’s the filter when in mobile mode? You need a new dev team if you want your site to grow. I’d love to know if the broken navigation is on purpose or not because I don’t check for messages very often because of the PAINFUL experience. ### 1/5 — Glitchy. Requires posting of four images to be approved and allowed to access the app - when trying to upload the images error message appears saying “oops - unable to access as not approved” ### 1/5 — Not functional *2023-02-23, version 1.1.0* I work as a quality analyst for a software company, and I am boggled that this app ever made it past testing. You’re rarely able to approve or deny friend requests in the app. The majority of the time, the notifications don’t update no matter how many times you close all your app tabs and try to go back in. Making changes to your profile on the app only update on the website sometimes. I don’t own a computer, and the website is only really entirely functional on the full desktop version on google chrome on my iPhone. I have no idea how it’s possible for a mobile site and an app to function as poorly as MM. I would love to use the service more, but it’s nearly impossible to do much without having a computer. I don’t know if I’ll be sticking around. I may pursue other freelance gigs because this is not it. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Cannot access *2026-05-10, version 1.2.6* Model Mayhem has abysmal policies. No matter how much work you put into building a network on the site, the platform can just suddenly give you a lifelong ban with no explanation. Absolute waste of time. MM exhibits no care for their user base. Look elsewhere. ### 1/5 — Trash *2025-12-28, version 1.2.5* This app has the same issues as reviews from YEARS AGO. There’s absolutely no care or effort in quality or functionality of the app. I have minimal involvement in relying on the app to obtain work for myself due to the issues that have not changed for many years. - Main feed does not refresh. - Messages do not mark as read after opening them. - Displays 0 notification badges on the home screen when there are unread messages, friend requests, and more. - Only aware of profile activity via emails. - Once notified of profile activity in an email, the link does not refresh the profile/website to show the notifications. This caused confusion for models I’ve already worked with. I downloaded this app expecting to be able to speak with photographers and possibly have some taken, but you need 4 professional photos to even make an account.. I understand not wanting selfies on the site bogging down the artistry of the photographers, but that’s literally all I have. My friends don’t take good photos and I can’t afford headshots right now, so I guess this site isn’t for me….. ### 1/5 — VIP Scam - Completely stole my money without providing any service *2024-06-13, version 1.2.0* Paid the $10+ a month for VIP after doing the free trial, and once I paid, I didn’t receive VIP anything like when I had the free trial. Ironic because I literally paid for a ‘service’ I did not receive, so I emailed Model Mayhem, they told me to contact Apple since they can’t refund me, Apple won’t refund me and won’t tell me why, so I asked Model Mayhem via email to give me 2 months VIP (1 for the month I was never given and a complimentary month for all the trouble) and the customer service member Skye ghosted me and didn’t respond back. Aside from that this app doesn’t bring any business except for trashy nude stuff. ### 1/5 — Crashes and creepy photographers *2024-05-09, version 1.1.9* App will constantly crash and the vast majority of people who reach out to you are really bad photographers who just want to shoot x rated content ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Finally Here *2022-04-07, version 1.0.0* This app is long overdue, but finally here. The UI is relatively clean and easy to navigate. No where near as many features as the web site (which makes sense), but the essentials are here. Very happy to be able to finally access my MM inbox from a mobile app. Off to a good start. Hopefully the launch of this app will encourage more people to join the site. ### 4/5 — Casting calls on iPhone *2025-03-19, version 1.2.4* I used to be able to submit for casting calls through my phone and lately for the past month I have not been able to. It doesn’t even give me option unless I go on my laptop ### 3/5 — I’m not sure *2026-03-14, version 1.2.6* There are only 5 posts in my newsfeed. It could be useful to integrate instagram API. I have 74 friends on the website but it says 0 followers and 0 followings on the app so maybe link those too. I’m not sure how to engage much with the app but I’ll wait for updates. Local sorting would help a lot, since I cannot travle much but it isn’t changing the listings so I’ll have to log back into the website. If it could work through my instagram where I have thousands of followers and hundreds of images, that would help a lot. I’d also like to post videos. Thanks! ### 3/5 — Very beneficial but needs an update! *2024-09-27* I really love this app! It has helped me find so many opportunities! With that being said I would like to also point out that this app really needs a lot of updates. It can be confusing to work and some things simply won’t work unless you go to their website which is still rather overwhelming. It also took me months to get my account approved. I had to eventually email them. However I think you guys need a way to better weed out scammers on this app. I’ve had an encounter with someone using the name of a legit company to send people bad checks claiming they will pay you to do a job and asking you to send some money to the clothing designer out of the amount they send you. I realized this when the check was no good. THANK GOD I couldn’t cash it. These people are criminals and can cause unsuspecting people to get in serious trouble. PLEASE work on a better way to screen these types of profiles so that these things don’t happen again. ### 3/5 — Improvement Ideas *2022-04-09, version 1.0.0* Thanks for creating an app, but the app is very early 2000s and we’re in 2022. Two quick suggestions: 1) Drop the “subject” field requirement when messaging and show the chats between the two people how Insta and other apps do it. 2) Invest in a UX/UI designer ### 3/5 — App doesn’t recognize vip membership status *2022-04-08, version 1.0.0* I don’t want to be too critical because I know this app is brand new and I am very thankful! When I signed into the app, it did not recognize that I pay for a VIP membership to Model Mayhem. It shows me as being a non-paying member, only 5 out of the 75+ photos in my portfolio appear on the app, and many of the profiles that I visit frequently of my friends have display anywhere from 0 to 3 photos. I look forward to future updates and enhancements. ### 2/5 — Make this like Instagram used to be *2023-02-16, version 1.1.0* If you create an app that behaves like Instagram used to be ( a photographers paradise where we could show off our work ) this app will be great. There’s a void because IG is removing our photos, we need a safe space. It’s frustrating that the upload limit is 1M. This is why I stopped using the app tbh. This was the deal breaker for me. I’m a photographer. My phone is full of my work ( which I use to post to Instagram). If I would be able to upload larger photos I would use the app all the time. We’re in modern times ( my toaster takes photos that are more than 1M). That’s a sarcastic jab but also has truth to it. ### 2/5 — Almost! *2022-11-10, version 1.0.5* I was so excited to see this become available, but it’s frustrating to use and lacks features. Users bio only shows the first line, any non-PG photo isn’t available, and some search features are missing.
