## What is Model Train Script?

ModelTrainScript offers you easy automation of your Z21 or ECoS controlled model train layout. It allows you to configure and run simple automation scripts directly from you iPhone, iPad or Mac.

There are a lot of great open source solutions available to automate your layout, however ModelTrainScript has the focus to make automation as easy as possible. We try to do that by offering a user friendly interface for composing scripts and by reducing the amount of physical components you need. No need for a dedicated computer as central unit, just connect your iPhone (or iPad/Mac) and you are ready to go.

In short ModelTrainScript has the following features:
- Provide easy automation of your layout with scripts
- Manual control your layout with graphical representation
- Provide a catalog of your vehicle collection
- Data is synced via iCloud over all your Apple devices
- Ability to use your device camera to control your vehicles

ModelTrainScript requires a command station supporting the Z21 or ECoS lan protocol, it supports the following standards:
- Feedback: RBus, CBus and LBus (LocoNet)
- RailCom (over CBus, LocoNet and ECoSLink) for occupancy detection.

### 11.2.0 — 2026-06-28

- Improved assistant: the AI assistant has been improved and can now edit your scripts and timetables. Enable it under Settings → Advanced.
- Fixed moving an item in the layout editor, which could misplace the item or leave a duplicate behind.
- Element selectors for scripts, routes, timetables, paths, sounds, and variables now offer the option to create a new element on the spot.
- Several smaller bugs have been resolved.

### 11.1.0 — 2026-06-12

This version adds the following new functionality:
- Reusable Paths: path definitions you can reuse in your scripts.
- Shortcut element on the layout: an item that starts a script, timetable, route, or reusable path.
- Custom accessory state labels: tap a state's icon in the layout item editor to set your own name for it; the label is shown in place of the default state name throughout the app.

### 11.0.0 — 2026-05-20

This version introduces the Train Dispatcher, a coordination layer that hands out clearances so two trains never claim overlapping track. Manual moves route via the dispatcher with a new Via dispatcher toggle on the throttle; scripts use the new Request clearance and Release clearance actions. Other changes: 
- Introduction of a model clock with adjustable speed. Conditions and Execution events both gain new clock-based options. See model clock for the full details.
- Timetables can now start automatically from an execution event, the same way scripts can. The new Control Timetable action also lets scripts start or stop any timetable.
- New users are welcomed by a refreshed welcome screen and a guided app tour that walks through the main features.
- Profile setup gets easier: Command stations are now auto-discovered, and a new Test connection action allows you to verify your settings before saving.
- The layout control gets an improved look, with updated assets and tweaked colors.
- Mac support has been greatly improved with this version, fixing issues and improving stability.

- Conditions now support sub-groups, enabling you to build more complex logic by combining AND and OR at multiple levels

- Redesigned condition editor with live summary and drag & drop support
