Now? Not so much *2024-04-26* 3-4 years ago I found app, and test kits, to be helpful, easy to use, and (as far as I could tell) accurate. I have been using it again for the last 3 months and found myself frustrated with the app being unable to “capture” the picture of my test strip (literally: never). Also, despite frequency of my testing, I never had a strip result in anything more than a “low” result… despite obvious physical indicators saying otherwise (I realize this could be user error, which is why it’s my 2nd reason). This month I switched to a different brand/app and was able to see the nuances in, even just, a few hours of testing - plus this other brand’s app captured test result images so fast, with *zero* issues - AND test strips found my peak LH no problem (lined up with my biological indictors). That is what I have been looking for, and wish Modern Fertility could still do. All this to say: other features of the Modern Fertility app work nicely but, because of the reasons above, I’ll be moving on. ### 2/5 — No customization *2023-12-14* I wanted to love this app! I’m not currently trying to get pregnant, and I have that as my set goal. I simply want to learn more about my body while tracking fertility. Unfortunately the app still sends out tips on how to get pregnant and lets you know when the best time to test is. I’ve used the FLO app, as recommended by customer support but it looks like it’s designed for 14 year old girls. Additionally, the app only lets you select your cycle length and doesn’t account for periods or cycles that differ in length. I got my period inbetween cycles and now the predictions are basically useless. I know MANY women have irregular cycles for various reasons. I honestly hope this app improves because I love the look, and pay a much higher price for ovulation tests to use it. (~$1.25/piece vs $0.25/piece). ### 3/5 — Ovulation Tests Don’t Work Well in App *2023-08-19* The app is easy to use and beautiful to look at. I appreciate modern fertility’s mission. I am only writing this based on my experience with the ovulation tests. The camera function does not read the tests well. I can see slight fluctuations in the tests and the results are either 40 or 1 and can have different readings on the same test. My results just today are probably closer to 10 judging on what I can read. I agree with other reviewers who say to enter it manually. There are better and more helpful apps to track ovulation if the testing component is not involved. Hopefully other people are having more success with the fertility and pregnancy tests! ### 2/5 — Doesn’t read strips correctly *2023-07-26* I like the idea behind this app and how it’s supposed to pair with all of Modern Fertilities other products. However, using the app to read ovulation strips is borderline impossible and extremely inaccurate. You have to hold the camera at an exact unknown distance away and it’s never just an easy scan. Not to mention it’s not accurate at all. The app keeps telling me I’m only at 10, but when matching it with the lines on the package, it’s clearly somewhere between 25 and 45. I currently use this to help prevent pregnancy and am extremely annoyed, but I couldn’t imagine trying to conceive using these - being in the surge level of ovulation, but this app telling me I’m only at 10 and missing my opportunity that month. I will be switching back to the brand I used previously. ### 3/5 — Great idea, frustrating app *2023-06-24* I love these ovulation tests and app. HOWEVER, when I go to log my LH surge , it is soooo annoying how I have to hold it steady and it keeps saying “perfect this will take a few seconds” then it’ll say “it’s too close” then “try holding it over the strip” THEN it’ll do that so many times!! Over and over! Also, it’ll give me 4 different numbers on one test back to back! I’m looking at a test now and the line is as dark, if not DARKER than the control line and it says it’s only 30 LH! HOW?!?! On the package it SHOULD BE 65+ ! That’s what I would manually log! Soooo how is this possible? Also, it is pretty accurate about the days I ovulate as well as when my LH will be most elevated! That’s impressive that it gives me that knowledge! This company should sell vitamins to help men and women conceive! So, all in all, yes I love the product. The app is great. HOWEVER, It’s soooo frustrating and annoying to take the photo and it always takes at least 10 min for one!! And it’s super annoying it doesn’t give me accurate LH numbers! Other than that, it’s ok. If there was another company that does this same thing, I honestly probably would try their app and test. I hope the app gets fixed for all of this bc otherwise this would be wonderful. Good luck. ### 4/5 — Updated review *2023-03-09* Updated review: I’ve found that stabilizing the phone on an object makes the photo taking process much less infuriating (a toilet paper roll is the PERFECT height) so I’m still sticking with the app at least through all 20 tests. The tests are saying I’m surging while easy@home says I’m nowhere near he oh surge. I’m actually more inclined to believe Modern Fertility 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Original review: I despise the app. The language it uses to try to sound “hip” is so cringey, it’s adult women using the app for god’s sake. Plus it takes a good 5-10 mins for the thing to actually take a photo of the strip. I’ve done a few of these now and it keeps cycling between “perfect! This will take a few seconds” then 30+ seconds later “try hold the phone directly over the test strip” it’s ridiculous just TAKE THE PICTURE! Better yet let me upload my own photo and the app can read it like other apps do. $15 for 20 tests and incredibly frustrating app means I’m switching back to Easy@Home and the Premom app. ### 3/5 — Very Basic *2023-02-16, version 1.3.14* This is a very basic app for tracking. I wish I could write notes with my “logs” such as “mild to moderate cramping” and to also be able to write down basal temps along with test strips for added documentation and having a better outlook of what my cycle is doing. For now I’ll just keep using a separate journal. The test strips are so far the best I’ve ever used. I can’t stomach the cost of digital trackers and cheap test strips have proven to be a bit inaccurate. I do think there is a learning curve with the camera and lighting to accurately read the test strips. Once I figured out what worked for my phone camera and lighting it read the strips correctly 9 out of 10. It also took a few days to understand how the app worked. Overall I am happy with the app but hope improvements are in the works for a better experience. ### 4/5 — Issue with iPhone 14 pro photo compatibility *2022-12-23, version 1.3.14* I just switched from an iPhone 11 Pro to a 14 pro. With my old phone logging the ovulation strips took seconds and was a great way to get the unbiased feedback on what the LH level result was and track the data over time. With my new phone the camera lens appears out of focus when I go to log and asks me to hold it farther away, which doesn’t align with the strip guide that shows on the screen. It either takes a long time or won’t log at all with my new phone. Can the developer please address this? ### 3/5 — Inaccurate ovulation test reader *2022-12-17, version 1.3.14* There are so many things I love about this app, but I’m using it to get pregnant, so I’m giving it three stars because the ovulation test reader is very inaccurate. I was feeling skeptical about its accuracy so I bought the Modern Fertility brand ovulation test strips, hoping this would help. When I scanned the same exact test strip, I got three completely different readings 0, 5 and 40! Please don’t this feature of the app unless it’s 100% accurate, because women are counting on this to help them get pregnant! I now log my ovulation strips manually because I don’t trust a app’s reader. ### 4/5 — Strip Color *2022-11-10, version 1.3.14* While I loved being able to confirm what I was counting out for my days of ovulation it’s a bit frustrating when it won’t take its picture automatically. As my LH began to surge the test line was definitely getting darker but so was the entire strip within the test window causing the automatic read feature within the app to fail. As you can still read it and enter it manual this app and test still gets four stars! It’s easy to understand how to use, easy to use, and easy to read the results. ### 2/5 — Ovulation Test *2022-10-30* Hi.. I tried take the picture loading on camera to Ovulation test, I was holding too long still taking capture nothing come up and still as long it take. My arms and back are killing me to hold it to the phone when I take waiting to capture it, finally it’s took me 15mins long or more. Please fixed the problem and tried uninstalling again back on nothing the same. ### 4/5 — Modern fertility *2022-10-25, version 1.3.14* I love everything about the app. it’s easy to use, The set up is easy, it’s easy to look at past logs, I love that you could order test through the app, I love that it’s informing about ovulation, about your cycle, etc. The only thing that I don’t like about it is if you have a irregular period it throws off the calendar, and after it doesn’t keep the regular period and ovulation. I want to be able to put my irregular periods in as well without it affecting my regular periods. ### 2/5 — Discouraging *2022-10-12, version 1.3.14* First of all, this app is not very user friendly. I have to enter my tests manually because it will not read the lines correctly ever. I use the guide on the back of the test to enter the result. I do use modern fertility brand tests. Second, I feel that the cues it gives are discouraging. It says on 12 DPO your pregnancy test is 99 percent accurate. I’m going to that this is false considering implantation can happen anywhere between 6-12DPO. I tested on 12 DPO with my first daughter and it was completely negative not even a shadow of a line. I didn’t get a positive until the day my period was supposed to start. Third, you can’t track bbt on this app. Which means you will either need a separate app or a paper chart. Can’t track cm either. The only thing I use this app for is to compare with my Premom app. My predicted period and predicted ovulation are usually more accurate on this app than Premom. But Premom is so much easier to use. ### 2/5 — Pretty bummed *2022-09-01, version 1.3.14* I have been using Modern Fertility to track ovulation for two months and this month I really buckled down to track everything while we TTC. Last night I tested and it said my LH was 10 and literally 30 seconds later scanning the same test it said it was then a 0…so this morning, knowing it was likely my surge day, I used a MF test and a digital test and the digital said I had a surge while the MF read zero when the same urine was used for both tests. I know the digital is correct from other bodily signs and symptoms. Super disappointed I wasted time and money on this app/test set up :( ### 4/5 — Great App, Wish it was a bit more disability friendly *2022-08-09, version 1.3.14* I ABSOLUTELY love the app! I love how easy it is to track and know where I’m at in the cycle, and just get to learn my body better. The only problem is in order to scan the strips, you have to hold the phone extremely still or else it won’t read. I have light tremors and I try to hold it still but usually can’t get still enough for a reading. Usually have to have my husband scan it for me. I wish the camera wasn’t so sensitive with movement and could read easier. Other than that, awesome app! ### 3/5 — Was great until *2022-05-13, version 1.3.10* I was in love with this app until today when I went to log my tests and everything and the app no longer shows any “fertile days or peaks” on my current cycle and my last one even though I peaked last month it doesn’t show that I’m gonna have a fertile window at all. I know this is just a APP but really to someone TTC, it kinda makes you feel hopeless when your only source of tracking it has disappeared ### 3/5 — Honest Review *2022-05-06, version 1.3.10* I really loved this App for tracking my cycle, however, the last four months it has become unreliable. The ovulation test strips have changed, my older ones (which have not expired) don’t work. The newer one never catch my LH sure, and seem to continually miss calculate the pink line. It always pops up as 1, or 5 when the purple line is clearly much darker. I’ve been using their App, ovulation, pregnancy, and hormone testing for two years. I’m not sure if the decline is due to Ro acquiring Modern Fertility or not. I’ll be trying a more cost friendly method, such as easy home in the future. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not good *2023-09-21* The app has a LOT of glitches and issues. The whole sign up process does not work. It did not allow me to select a specific date for my period (the calendar was impossible to see and smaller than my pinky nail). It did not give me any options to choose cycle length- the buttons did not click and it did not scroll. I basically had to choose false information to get me through and onto the next slide. I then click random stuff to get me through the sign up process (meaning it’s using inaccurate data). Then I scan my LH dip stick into the app. And the first and second time it told me my LH level is Low. (While the line is as dark as it can be). So I scan it a 3rd time and it registers as high. How can it read SO OFF. Other fertility apps and dip sticks are way more user friendly, accurate And cheaper. I would not recommend this to anyone. ### 1/5 — This app is inaccurate and not working properly *2023-04-27* I am writing this review after using this app for about 6months. I chose this because of its beautiful design, but I’ve been regretting my choice over the past few months. This app is really inaccurate and doesn’t work properly. Basically, whenever I tried to take pictures of testers for an ovulation test, this app not only couldn’t take photos properly, but there were many errors in recognizing the numbers. As a result, I had to stand in the bathroom holding my phone for more than 5-10mins. In addition, when the same tester resulted, the LH value was 1or 80, showing all different values appearing every time a picture was taken. I have wasted so much time on this app’s inaccuracies, and it pisses me off. PLEASE improve the app’s accuracy. ### 1/5 — Trying to conceive is hard, this app and their test strips are even HARDER. *2023-01-02, version 1.3.14* Bottom line: the Modern Fertility app can’t even scan their own ovulation tests. Out of a box of 20, I have successfully had it scan twice. It’s incredibly frustrating to be fed “tips/tricks” that make you feel like it’s user error. On top of that, the strips have not been able to detect a surge. Save your money on the OPK they offer and use PreMom (these saved me from missing this TTC cycle). Lastly, it’s only mildly offending that they think users are not interested or would understand what they’re doing with the info we input (it says stuff like “doing sciencey things”) but then they feed you the same old information you can find on most tracking apps. Would not recommend. ### 1/5 — Hard to upload test strips *2022-05-19, version 1.3.10* I’ve used premom / easy home test strips for the past few months. I ran out of test strips on vacation, so I decided to try this app with their ovulation test strips. Comparing to one of my easy home strips, which showed I hit my ovulation LH peak; these test strips did not. It was actually quite a difference. I confirmed ovulation the next few days using my bbt. This states 99 percent accurate but I don’t believe that. Uploading the test strips were a pain as well. The app would keep telling me different errors and ways to improve uploading. I was in a well lit bathroom, used the test packet as a background, and held my phone correctly; like the errors suggest. Eventually I ended up giving up and using my premom app, it’s much simpler. I don’t recommend this app or test strip. ### 1/5 — Inconsistent test results *2022-04-17* I decided to scan the same ovulate stick multiple times within one minute and I got 4 different readings- 5, 0, 30, 10. Again this test we’re all taking within a minute total. Makes me believe this is unreliable. ### 1/5 — This app is buggy and customer service is non responsive *2022-04-02, version 1.3.8* I have yet to have a good experience with Modern Fertility and I’m very confused as to why there’s so much hype around this brand. From the moment I ordered my fertility test I encountered issues. The first issue was the purchase confirmation email didnt include any details about what I ordered or paid. My employer reimburses employees for fertility treatments and such so I needed to be able to send them a receipt. When o reached out for support I was met with nothing but incompetence and it took weeks to get what I asked for, which was simple receipt! Now my order doesn’t even show up in my account and I didn’t bother following up about that because trying to get a response from someone takes so long that it’s not even worth the wait. Another issue I’m having with the app is I wasn’t able to select the correct start date for my cycle because the calendar was cut off. I emailed and texted for assistance, asking them to adjust it, but it’s been nearly a week and no response. How am I to even rely on this app to accurately track my flow and other things when I’m not even able to enter in my data correctly? Also really annoying that it’s not adjustable in the app. I shouldn’t have to reach out about simple stuff like this. Overall I’m very underwhelmed with this brand and won’t buy anything else from them and I’m deleting this app. ### 1/5 — Useless *2021-12-07, version 1.3.5* I had high hopes for this system but I can say I am overwhelmingly disappointed. From the kit taking weeks to arrive to the app being beyond unreliable, I would never order again. Every single time I photograph the strip to upload to my app it gives me a different reading ranging from no surge to already surged for the exact same strip when I retake the photo. You would have more success buying a crystal ball to try and pinpoint your more fertile days. Fertility issues are hard enough without systems that promise a level of new accuracy being absolutely flawed. Please improve. Have been using the app for 3 months, only to realize there is no aggregated numerical data for cycle review (eg. 30 day cycle past/avg/projected). Also just started using the LH strips and the scanner is such a bummer as it’s SO inaccurate (scanning the same strip multiple times will yield wildly different results). Had a friend recommended the clear blue strips and they’re easy and straightforward in comparison. I upgraded the app and can no longer get it to auto-log. It keeps telling me to move the camera closer, hold it over the strip. Exactly what I’m doing. It’s so bad I want to throw my phone against the wall. I texted their support line and was told, “The reason we updated the app is actually because we are on the cusp of releasing new Ovulation strips. The new app / strips are designed to work much better together.” I received the current box of stops less than two weeks ago and had used 2 before MF upgraded the app and made the old strips obsolete. BEFORE the new strips were even released. I was using the ovulation strips and they worked great for me and i didn’t really have any problems. My doctor thought that this was a good idea for me to use the app and ovulation test combo to get familiar with my cycle since In the past ive had irregular periods. If your trying to get pregnant then i would highly recommend this app because I did end up getting pregnant (on purpose and fairly quickly) and this app helped me figure out when i got pregnant exactly. My fiancé and I don’t want kids. Birth control was awful on my body and mind so we decided to discontinue use of it. My fiancé is going to get a vasectomy next year, so in the meantime we are tracking my cycle and using protection or abstinence during the fertile windows. We’ve been doing this since May and it hasn’t been wrong yet. It predicts my period to the day. I recommend using this app with the pee strips. At first I was deflated and disappointed because I wasn’t sure if these worked for me and I basically had a flat line bc I have irregular cycles, which makes everything harder. Because sometimes I’ll have a really light flow in the morning and by the afternoon it’s heavy and then sometimes medium by the night or sometimes it’s just heavy all the time.
