It’s happening more and more often ### 2/5 — Wynd 60” and 52” fans *2026-03-27, version 1.4.28* We purchased 5 Wynd ceiling fans and downloaded this app to update the firmware which was recommended before using the fans. I was able to check the 60” fan firmware but cannot check the other fans as I cannot connect them to the app. ### 2/5 — Janky at best *2026-03-24, version 1.4.28* This app really sucks. I think Modern Forms made a conscious decision to invest in rating bots rather than a good app. Ever written review is terrible, for good reason. This app is infuriating. Simple things like having an outdated login system to a confusing UI. They’ve obviously gone as cheap as possible. ### 2/5 — Terrible app *2025-12-24, version 1.4.28* The app will rarely turn on the lights or fans. We have a smart home, all other systems perform perfectly with the app but the Modern Forms app. The actual remotes work very well. If we can get one fan to work, the app logs us out, forcing us log back in, which we try to do, but it won’t log in. The credentials are correct, it just goes into wait mode. Been in IT for 40 years, own a software company and we code iOS and iPadOS apps. I’ve tried every troubleshooting thing I can think of, including deleting the app, doing a reinstall, installing it on our clean/lean testbed phones and tablets - but nothing works. I’m open to ideas, I’m fresh out. ### 2/5 — Poor connectivity *2025-10-28, version 1.4.28* I’ve been using this app for over four years and have five Modern Forms fans. Spent a lot of time calling back-and-forth technical support fixing one thing or another or trying to get one back online. Hard to believe that they have not updated this app to fix the ongoing issue experienced by almost every user. Number one requested fix?! That the fan actually connects so that you can turn it on and off almost 99% of the time myself another users have to swipe the app away and log back in. What a pain in the neck. Having to do it all over again I would’ve chose a different smart fan. And yes, I’ve called customer support , but there’s nothing they can do because it is an engineering issue ### 2/5 — Terrible app *2025-09-27, version 1.4.27* This app crashes constantly. It’s a useless app. The fan switch is so slow that it sometimes take 14 seconds or more to turn on after you press the button. Get it right or delete your App! ### 1/5 — Poor WiFi *2025-08-04, version 1.4.25* I have 7 of these fans in my home and the app is terrible. After a while it loses connectivity. Right now I only gave 4 of these fans on the app since the rest stop worked. What’s worse than the app is the switches on the wall. The buttons are soo poorly manufactured they break. I have had to replace 4 switches so far. ### 3/5 — Glitches for 2 or more fans *2025-07-26, version 1.4.25* I start the application, turn on the first fan and then I click to control this second fan. Application keeps on searching to connect, but it never does. Then I close the application and I reopen it and then I can connect! It does that nine out of 10 times I use it! So if you have one fan, it’s probably OK but if you have more, you need to be patient. Please don’t ask me about the firmware version because I do not know how to get it! ### 1/5 — Didn’t work *2025-07-16, version 1.4.25* I tried following instructions but the app doesn’t recognize my device. Good luck getting it to connect, stay connected or even turn the fan on or off. If I knew it didnt have a traditional remote and had to rely on this horrible app. I would have never bought it. ### 3/5 — Connection Unstable *2025-07-07, version 1.4.25* Not sure if it is a software problem with the app or a hardware issue, but my three Modern Forms fans lose connectivity with the app about once a week. The fans stop responding to commands from the app (e.g., to change speed or turn on/off). Can sometimes be fixed by rebooting the fan, but occasionally requires the fan to be reset and repaired. ### 3/5 — Never Connects *2025-05-16, version 1.4.25* Used to work most of the time but now it takes several tries to connect. Leaving it as is is a great way to get people to buy a different fan. This app is useless. The fan is not a smart fan. It’s just a fan with a terrible remote or terrible wall switch. After that first time, the app has never worked again. It even made my wall remote stop working. They should show you all your fans on one page. I have five of them. The fan doesn’t react to the app and the fan beeps like a smoke detector at random intervals. Voice commands on Google home work reliably but somehow their app does not work at all ### 1/5 — Beautiful fans – awful app *2025-11-28, version 1.4.28* I chose all Modern Forms fans for my home because of the way they look. The app however, is terrible. It logs me out randomly. Or I have to log out and back in just to connect to the fans. The app still doesn't even rotate to horizontal mode on iPad. This is frustrating in the middle of the night when I want to just quickly turn the light on, I can't. I have to go through this whole rigmarole of logging out, logging back in, just to turn the light on! I can't even connect the fans to the smart technology app. I use to control everything else in my home. The only feature about the app I really is the ability to schedule. This is the one thing that seems to work seamlessly, during the summer I have all the Set to turn on and off at a certain time each day at specific settings. This works great, I wish the rest of the app did too. I put them in a group so I can control both on a schedule. I like the user interface to set fan speed and light dimmer. Good that it’s WiFi enabled so I can control remotely. ### 5/5 — Open source app, a good thing. *2021-12-08, version 1.4.19* Started with the Modern Forms app, but only have one small fan. I did need supper send me a new light when the light remained glowing even when off. The new light worked great. I did make a mistake setting up the app again on a new phone. I thought I lost the setting. But it turns out I had used the wrong email address to login. I tried my other email address and all my setting appeared. When it was unpacked everything was beautifully protected in the box. I am pretty hard to please and certainly not technically. However, this fan is absolutely silent, moves air through 6 different speeds and the light dims. I love that the remote is my phone... or Alexa ... or the wall. Once you get the hang of it- perfection. My only disappointment is that I tried to order a second one for my family room only to learn it wasn’t available. Highly recommend . We bought three however we had to return one as it wouldn’t work. We were able to replace it for free. We have never had a fan w just 3 blades.
