### 4/5 — Love this App

*2019-10-28*

My son was born with a brain condition that caused his fine motor skills to be illegible but he is so smart. This app has totally saved us with a Math. We would have never been able to line up math problems much less read his own writing and this app allows him to do all of it. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because it is not easy to write the number of the problem if they are doing a workbook page.

### 4/5 — Great App but has some limitations

*2019-07-31*

This app is great for basic math problems. However, it’s not that great for Geometry problems. I also wish there was a full keyboard of letters. It is very difficult for my son to label his units or word problems. It is also difficult for my son to label angle types such acute or obtuse.

### 4/5 — Great App for students with disabilities but needs a few extras

*2019-03-08*

I love using this app with my students to increase their legibility when solving longer mathematical processes. I was wondering if you could possibly include a strike or slash button to cross out numbers when subtracting with regrouping as well as include lines to separate the subtraction problem from the answer. Otherwise this is a great app for my students! Thanks!

### 4/5 — Thank God It's Not Another Calculator App

*2017-10-30*

Someone had written this app should automatically solve problems typed into it. I'm so glad it doesn't. This app is great for people who have dyscalculia or handwriting issues.

We're able to type all kinds of words using keyboards, but when it comes to typing out math problems, we just don't have the characters or the freedom to type things the way we need to. This app changes all that.

This is an app that allows students to keyboard algebra problems. NOT an app that does the work for the student. And that's exactly how it should be. Thanks for creating this!

### 4/5 — Kb

*2016-09-18*

This app is fantastic, and easily allows my son to use his iPad to do his maths. It is simple to use but offers all the features he needs. Just one issue though, it needs to have all the letters available. As a student doing senior maths, he often doesn't have the letter available for algebra, and has to convert to another letter, which can get confusing. If this could be fixed it would be perfect!

### 4/5 — Great alternative to paper and pencil.

*2016-02-25*

This app provides an alternative to paper and pencil. Students who struggle with handwriting often miss math problems because they cannot tell what number they wrote. Would like to see a pen option added so that students could circle answers or draw lines to keep track of what they are doing.

### 5/5 — Just what I was looking for

*2015-03-05, version 1.01*

My son has dysgraphia and is in honors algebra 2. Calculator use is very restricted, so he is doing the problems in his head and making careless errors. This app provides my son the opportunity to advance along with his peers.

### 4/5 — Great concept. Needs work.

*2014-09-08, version 1.01*

Wonderful concept. It needs a scratchpad like Khanacademy has, to actually do the work. I will use to make problems and print out though.

### 5/5 — Thank-you, we have waited so long !

*2014-08-31, version 1.01*

Thank-you!!! Thank-you!!! Thank-you!!!!!

This is a real game-changer for my son who has dysgraphia! And so intuitive to use! Brilliant!!

### 5/5 — Digital scratch paper

*2014-08-14, version 1.01*

Finally, an app for the struggling disgraphic student. This is scratch paper for the classroom of the new era.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Wish I hadn’t bought it 😩

*2019-04-01, version 2.3*

I purchased this thinking that it would have helpful maths resources and features to help with Dyscalculia. I expected work sheets and examples.Really disappointed

### 1/5 — Insufficient but nicer than some

*2016-09-14*

I am unable to put exponents in denominators or fractions in exponents. That is enough for me to have to give 1 star. All 5 stars if it does everything required by algebra.

### 2/5 — Worksheet import doesn’t work

*2022-03-27, version 2.5*

Great idea for an app and something sorely missing for kids with additional support needs.

However, importing worksheets from a photo just doesn’t work. I have a screenshot of a worksheet and when I try to import it the screenshot is only a small partial piece of the full screenshot. The importer doesn’t allow any resizing, just taking an even smaller crop of the already small image.

Also, getting a normal keyboard up to just type in some instructions or information to help the student is missing.

Overall great idea just not the best execution at the moment. Would love the developers to fix this and make it useful and accessible. Otherwise it’s just frustrating to use for kids and parents who are desperately trying to learn maths and fighting for the right support for their kids.

### 2/5 — Missing curly braces

*2019-06-05*

It would be great if there were curly braces

### 2/5 — Math Special Ed Teacher

*2016-09-20*

In theory, this could be an amazing app. BUT when applying the rules of place value to addition, subtraction, and multiplication problems, the prompter should automatically move right to left, not left to right, as we are "typing" numbers, not spelling words. Also, it would be nice if there was a character on the keyboard to "cross out" a number- such as when regrouping in multi-digit numbers and wanting to cross of a number that has already been regrouped and added in somewhere.

**Developer response:** Hello. Both of these are possible. Changing the cursor is in Advanced Settings, and the "cross out" key is on the keypad (italics n that has a line through it.) Thanks for using ModMath.

### 3/5 — Great idea, useful, but incomplete

*2023-03-06*

This is a useful tool for those who struggle writing with pencil and paper. Having said that, it is an incomplete tool. It would be incredibly useful if it had the capability of writing with an Apple Pencil on the same document that you are using at the time. Yes, I can go to the “write” option, but then I will lose everything I write by hand if I try to return to my original document. I first have to save it onto a PDF document and at that point I am no longer able to use it at its original function.

A design similar to this one, with the option of typing on the grid or writing with a pencil on the same page is essential. Sadly, we are also unable to use the full keyboard, except when writing the title. I may need to type something but have limited letters to use (like only a, b, c, d, e, f, h, i, k, m, n, w, x, y and z). That is about it. So if you need to teach your child to write a complete answer to a question… like 7 lbs. or 50 miles/ hr, you are unable to do so. I often need to make notes during the lesson and cannot do so.

Again, I am grateful for this tool, but it takes extra work to make it usable. Not to mention the things we have to skip in order to use it. I would love to see some updates, but fear the creators have created it and are done with it.

### 3/5 — One problem

*2021-03-10*

Good but please include variables

### 3/5 — Please Fix this up

*2015-11-16, version 1.01*

This app doesn't automatically answer the problems like a calculator.
MUST update it capiche.

### 4/5 — Useful but wish it had more capabilities

*2022-11-05*

My daughter has dysgraphia and finds this very useful, especially for long calculations or math problems. However, we both wish it had “Copy/Cut and Paste” capabilities similar to word/text processing programs, and that it was available for laptops and desktops, where she does all of her work.

### 4/5 — Wish for a couple more features

*2022-10-29*

Being able to use the keyboard to type on the “sheet” and/or be able to write with the apple pen, as needed would be so helpful. I am hoping this is in the works! Overall, I am very grateful for the product and design. It has changed my dysgraphic son’s approach to math. Just a few adjustments would make this perfect!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great

*2023-02-28*

It helps her with homework so much I wold recommend it

### 5/5 — Break through app

*2021-01-15, version 2.5*

Our ten yo has dysgraphia and dyscalculia. We are into our first week using the app and her ability to solve math problems is already improved. So is her confidence.

It's a great tool

### 5/5 — My workspace.

*2020-12-08*

It's handy and I could the questions even better. also check it over and check and it has grid that spaces out the numbers and the equations

### 5/5 — Question

*2020-09-29*

When is the next update?

### 5/5 — Wonderful App for those who struggle with writing

*2020-09-16, version 2.5*

An amazing find for our 10 year old with cerebral palsy and visual impairment who knows what numbers need to go where but cannot physically write these! Keep up the good work and Thank you so much for making this app

### 5/5 — Helpful

*2020-05-06, version 2.5*

This app allows my dyslexic son to layout his maths work. I would advise that you play around with it first but it is fairly easy to get to grips with.

### 5/5 — Awesome app, but one suggestion!

*2020-04-22*

I bought this app for my son with Cerebral Palsy. He has both visual and motor impairments, but no cognitive issues. It is wonderful! The squares zoom in perfectly for kids to see as well as “select” to write numbers in.

My one teensy suggestion is to also have an option to make the calculator bigger. This was designed for kids with writing problems, but even on a 12.9” iPad Pro, the buttons are less than a quarter inch square.

### 5/5 — Perfect for those with handwriting/organization issues

*2019-01-25*

This app is exactly what I have been searching for! My homeschooled son has ADHD/mild tic disorder. Long division and multidigit multiplication can be difficult for him to keep organized. On top of that, he struggles with his grip, and will repeatedly trace over numbers. ModMath has allowed him to work more quickly, with less strain and greater focus. It has given a big boost to his confidence. The export function makes it easy to keep a record of his work for our reviews.

### 5/5 — Great New Ap

*2016-04-08, version 2.1*

Love this app!! Have been searching forever for something that would help my son who is dyslexic and dysgraphic with his math homework/

### 5/5 — Perfect, do more!

*2015-11-13*

This is perfect for a kid who's struggling with occupational skills. As other reviews have stated, please add more math symbols for older kids, or maybe have a second app for more advanced math practice, to keep this one simple. Keep being free! Educational tools should be free.
Oh and the ability to print would be nice.
