### 3/5 — Car’s available times is not available

*2023-06-03, version 2.4.0*

Once I’ve picked a car and am ready to book the time, it’s super annoying and time consuming to keep changing the hours back and forth until I hit the times it is available . This guessing game is very frustrating. Please add a block somewhere on the booking page to show what hours the car is available on that day so I can book the hours on my first try. Thanks!

### 1/5 — Lost a lot of key features

*2023-04-15, version 2.2.3*

The old version was sometimes glitchy while navigating but otherwise was amazing in terms of functionality. The new app removes all of these which makes for a frustrating user experience:

- Removed favourites feature
- when I want to change only the booking end time, app forces me to select start time again
- unavailable vehicle doesnt show me next availability date
- does not show list of vehicles available, need to select individual pins to know what car it is (very very time consuming)
- no filter option for choosing type of vehicle (suv, vans, etc)

### 1/5 — Horrible update

*2023-04-02, version 2.2.3*

Why change everything? when is working!

The previous version was great, I could filter a car for my needs. Today I just realized that I need a van, but I can’t find it.

### 3/5 — These developers lack experience

*2023-03-27, version 2.2.2*

One golden rule of software development is: do not remove functionality with a new upgrade.
The design of the new version looks more modern, but users have lost many options that are gone in this streamline version.
The way to do it is to add settings to activate/de-activate existing features… then the user can decide what they want to keep.
Please fix it!

### 1/5 — No cad filtering

*2023-03-27, version 2.2.2*

Nightmare. Updating the app and removing a whole bunch of functionality is a huge fail. Please restore as soon as possible

### 1/5 — New App is Limited

*2023-03-26, version 2.2.2*

The new app has very limited functionality. Please re-add the option to do an open booking for less than 24 hours.

### 2/5 — Disappointed with update

*2023-03-17, version 2.2.1*

I just saw your update yesterday, when I was trying to book a car for next week. I have to say I really don’t like it. Unless I’m missing something, I don’t have my favourites list anymore, and this app is more set up like Evo, with a map showing car locations. That’s fine, but I would like to still have my favourites list because now I have to remember where the convertible is parked for instance, which isn’t necessarily close to where I am when I’m trying to book. I really hope you correct this.

### 1/5 — New app isn’t functional

*2023-03-14, version 2.2.1*

There’s now no way to filter cars by features or even car type.

### 2/5 — New app freezes

*2023-03-12, version 2.2.1*

You can only look at 3 cars before it stops.

### 3/5 — New app looks better but lacks functionality

*2023-03-10, version 2.2.1*

New app looks way better but no FaceID? No filters to find specific cars/features? The app needs or have the same functionality as the desktop version or it is a waste of time

### 1/5 — New update, lose the ability to filter by vehicle type?

*2023-03-09, version 2.2.0*

Why on earth can I not see a filter for vehicle type? The old app was annoying because it didn’t format properly on my 13 mini but this new one is less useful overall

### 1/5 — New version is worst than the old one

*2023-03-09, version 2.2.0*

Why did Modo copy Evo? This new version is a copy of the Evo app, and it is awful.
Where can I choose the options I want/need for my booking? (Ie: snow rire, truck, suv…)
Where are my favourite cars? The point of Modo is to be able to plan your trip. I don’t often want to see the car available right next to me, but rather where I’ll be at the time of my booking….
Bring back the old and useful functionalities!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Seems like the worst service

*2026-04-29, version 3.39.0*

Cars are dirty and smell bad. Often broken. Refunds are almost impossible.

### 1/5 — Impossible to sign up

*2026-03-23, version 3.39.0*

The app will not let you type in a postal code making it impossible to sign up. And there is no other way to sign up as their website just directs you to this useless app .

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2025-12-14, version 3.34.2*

It basically impossible to use, because the tutorial video that they require you to watch before entering the app is unwatchable so you will never being able to get in.

### 1/5 — Bad and dishonest service

*2025-12-12, version 3.34.2*

They’re EV car’s charger wasn’t able to be removed even after I fobbed in, and so I had to change to another car. I called to make sure I wouldn’t get charged for the first car since I didn’t use it, and they guaranteed that. Next day, I call to follow up, and they’re telling me that there isn’t proof of a call or a note of everything I said happening (I have the calls appearing in my phone for proof).

### 1/5 — Charge

*2025-12-11, version 3.34.2*

Charge with no reason

### 1/5 — Unable to enter postal code

*2025-12-02, version 3.34.0*

I’m trying to create a new account and the text entry box for Postal Code will not accept text.

### 1/5 — App needs work

*2025-05-21, version 3.18.0*

Throughout most of your time as a Modo member you’ll be dealing with the mobile app more often than you would the website version. Why, then, is the app so completely devoid of features that would help you to use it?

Let’s say, hypothetically that you’ve been logged out of the app - not because you intentionally did it mind you, but because it did it for you for some reason (don’t be surprised, it will do that OFTEN). Let’s also say in this hypothetical, that you’ve forgotten your password. In literally every other service on the planet that has a mobile app behind a password wall, there’s a convenient link called something like “Forgot your password?” to help you get yourself going again. Not Modo! I mean, why would it? It’s far easier to just log in from your computer to do that, right? Oh, you mean you don’t HAVE your computer with you while you’re away from home trying to get a car? Why not? I guess that’s your problem, friend. You probably should have been more prepared for Modo’s inconsistencies.

You have zero access to any of your account information from within the app, and your search preferences will often reset out of the blue while searching.

To be clear, I love Modo. It’s a great service, but their app is beyond awful, and makes it significantly harder than it should be to use the service in the first place.

### 1/5 — Be careful!

*2024-09-13, version 3.9.0*

You add extra time to your booking and you get a confirmation on your current trip.
A couple of days later you will be charged for late return because the system didn’t take it.
It happens quite often

### 1/5 — Terrible update

*2023-11-18, version 2.12.0*

The new UI is awful. This biggest gripe I have with it is the availability of a vehicle. You have to guess and find a time when its not booked just to see when the vehicle will be available next. There’s also no more filters so you can’t even narrow down the car that you want. The old one was buggy and glitchy but I would’ve preferred that to this new UI. Whoever designed it needs re-evaluate their choices for this app.

### 1/5 — Going in the wrong direction

*2023-09-15, version 2.9.0*

Interface is, becoming less and less intuitive. It’s no longer possible to search for a specific vehicle in the app. Basically, if you don’t know a specific vehicle’s place and that it’s already available the app doesn’t do much for you. I get the feeling the app designer never actually uses Modo.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Simple interface and easy to use

*2024-05-31, version 3.5.0*

This app is great. It’s simple, intuitive and very easy to use. No need for a desktop site, I can do everything using the app, including updating account and payment info. I love how quick it is to update my booking time, including an “add 15 minutes” button if I’m running a bit late. I can also pull up old trips to see a full breakdown of every booking I’ve had. Would definitely recommend this app as well as MODO car sharing in general!

### 5/5 — Overall great, but needs proper app category

*2024-05-28, version 3.5.0*

Overall the app functionality is great, and much better than the desktop portal (which is still easy enough to use). But when downloading the app it’s category is ‘Lifestyle’. Please update this to be ‘Transportation’ or ‘Travel’!

### 5/5 — Vehicle availability

*2024-03-15, version 3.2.0*

The recent update showing the vehicle availability is AWESOME!!!! I’ve been requesting this ever since I started using the app, and this made my day when I saw it!! I can now see when a car is booked, and I can alter my plans to fit the time. THANK YOU!!

### 5/5 — new app!

*2023-03-16, version 2.2.1*

loving the design of the new app! excited to see what new features become available

### 5/5 — Well-designed, easy to use and reliable

*2023-03-10, version 2.2.1*

The app provide a seamless and hassle-free carsharing experience. It’s intuitive and I appreciate the convenience of having access to a reliable car near me whenever I need one (without the added expense of car ownership).

### 5/5 — Excellent service, negative review seem suspect

*2022-05-08, version 1.4.7*

Modo is an excellent service. I notice a lot of negative reviews here, and on google, mention hidden fees and such which make me think people aren’t reading about the co-op and are leaving bad reviews out of spite. Does it need work? Yeah but so does any service like this. Are you expected to help out as a member? Yes, it’s a co-op. Because of Modo I have never felt the need to own a car.

### 4/5 — Looks great!

*2023-03-18, version 2.2.1*

New app looks great, easier to use on newer iPhones! Yeah FaceID would be nice, but it’s great progress from the previous version (love the fact I can change vehicles now instead of cancelling and booking another one!)

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2021-11-05, version 1.4.7*

The app can be slightly buggy once in a while, but it’s pretty good overall. It’s only been buggy for me once in the months that I’ve been using it. It’s pretty simple to use, very user friendly.

### 3/5 — New UI is not great

*2023-12-21*

On the desktop browser, I can look at a vehicle and see it’s availability and plan around that.

If I live next to a car and the other car is 15 min walk away, I’d rather plan around the closer cars availability rather then walk in the rain, especially if I’m going grocery shopping. Also, I use this when I need a van occasionally for moving stuff. Why cant I just pull up that cars schedule like I can with the Modo browser site?

The new UI philosophy seems to be “Tell us a time window, and we will provide you the closest car for you”, which is fine if you live next to 5-10 modos and never need a specific car’s form factor but if I DO want a specific car/spot then I have to repeatedly try a variety of different time windows. Why?

If you anyone reading this has the same struggle I’m describing, just do yourself a favour and use their desktop website for best experience.

### 3/5 — UI not friendly (please incorporate pros from the older version)

*2023-07-07, version 2.6.1*

the latest UI needs to do more usability test. The availability is so unclear, I like the previous one “showing alert Red Text” Also, I like a CTA to complete the return or add more time, this new version did not cover it.

Pro: the new map is good looking.
