## What is Modulo GPS?

Modulo GPS gives you the number you need before your next shot: live distances to the front, middle and back of the green, from wherever you are standing.

Courses are sorted by how close they are, so the one you are on is usually first. Two taps and you are playing.

WHAT YOU GET

Distances. Front, middle and back of every green, plus hole number, par, stroke index and length, in metres or yards. A compass pointer to the green when you cannot see it.

Points of interest. Bunkers, water and lay-up markers with real distances, from surveyed course data.

Scoring. Turn it on at setup and enter each hole as you play. Individual, betterball and alliance games, plus Foursomes and American Scramble. WHS handicaps worked out from your index and the tee you are playing, with up to four players each on their own tee. A full scorecard, a round summary and a history of every round you have saved.

Automatic hole tracking, in beta. Switch it on and the round screen moves to the next hole once you have walked there. It is off by default, and moving between holes by hand always works.

Apple Watch. A standalone app with its own course list and GPS. Enter your score on the watch and it appears on your phone.

FREE AND PRO

Distances, the green compass, Individual Stableford and Individual Medal are free. Points of interest, the other game formats and extra favourites are part of Modulo Pro, a one-off purchase rather than a subscription.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8 — 2026-08-14

Your round is never lost, and every player is scored from their own card.

Once you start a round, Modulo keeps it for you. Close the app, run out of battery, or come back later and your round will still be on the course list, ready to continue from where you left off. When you’re done, you can save it, leave it for later, or discard it.

Men’s and women’s cards are now scored separately. When you add a player, choose the card they’re playing from and their handicap is calculated using that card’s course rating and slope for the tee they’re actually playing. Par and stroke index follow the same card, so mixed groups are scored correctly. If a club hasn’t published a rating for a tee, Modulo tells you instead of silently substituting another card.

On Apple Watch, your round now runs as a golf workout. Raise your wrist and you’re straight back to the hole you’re playing, while your walk contributes to your Activity rings.

### 1.7 — 2026-08-06

This is the biggest update since launch. Scoring is now built in, so you can keep it without leaving the round.

Turn it on when you set up a round and enter each hole as you play, alongside the same front, middle and back numbers you already use.

- Individual, betterball and alliance games, plus Foursomes and American Scramble.
- WHS handicaps, worked out from your index and the tee you are playing.
- Play with up to four. Everyone can be on a different tee, and each handicap adjusts for it.
- A full scorecard, a summary at the end of the round, and a history of every round you have saved.
- Enter your score on Apple Watch and it appears on your phone.

Individual Stableford and Individual Medal are included. The rest of the games are part of Pro.

The round screen can also follow you round the course now.

Automatic hole tracking is new, and it is off by default. Turn it on and the round screen advances to the next hole once you have actually walked there. It waits until you have been on the green you are playing, and then until you reach the next tee. Both, in that order, so it will not jump ahead while you are lining up a putt on a green that sits beside the next tee.

It is an assist rather than a replacement. Moving between holes by hand works exactly as before and quietly suspends tracking until you come back to the hole it believes you are playing, so looking ahead never drags you forward. The navigator stays on screen, so a wrong advance costs one tap. It is marked BETA because the thresholds want real rounds on real courses behind them.

Round history leads with the course rather than your own name, and prints only what is out of the ordinary, so a nine hole round or an unusual format stands out instead of sitting under a line that reads the same on every row. Scorecards carry the round's date and the tee, since your course handicap comes from that tee's rating and slope.

The privacy notice now describes scoring, which it did not cover before. Because that is a category of information the notice never previously described, you will be asked to accept it once more.

### 1.6 — 2026-08-02

### 1.5 — 2026-07-31

This release focuses on behind-the-scenes improvements. Course data now updates in the background, so greens and course details stay current without waiting for an app update. We have also refreshed green positions on a few holes and made general performance and reliability improvements.

### 1.4 — 2026-07-24

Modulo GP/S now lives on your wrist.

The all-new Apple Watch app gives you Front, Middle, and Back distances to the green at a glance, no phone required. Start a round from the watch, and it finds your course by GPS on its own. Turn the Digital Crown to move between holes, and swipe once for live distances to hazards, bunkers, and layups. Leave your phone in the bag and just play.

Also in this release:
– Cleaner, more legible layouts at larger text and Display Zoom settings
