I tried the Login page and put my phone number, but the app shows the account doesn't exist and tells me to sign up. But no where in the app can I find the sign up option. **Developer response:** The service is currently on hold for a few days following the end of the testing period so that we can complete the final technical adjustments and fine-tuning needed for the official launch. Bubi will be available again soon. :) ### 2/5 — Constant frustration due to the condition of bikes *2025-12-01, version 4.9.2* I’ve been using Bubi on and off for years and it’s just been too many times that I had a flat tire, broke shifter or/and halting chains. The overall reliability of the bikes is poor. It’s hard to recommend a service where the locks sometimes refuse to close, and every trip carries the risk of getting stuck swearing at a station for minutes before eventually contacting support because the bike won’t return properly. I’ve had many negative experiences, and I didn’t write a review earlier because I genuinely like what Bubi stands for. The app is good, and customer support has always been helpful — but the hardware has let me down too many times to overlook. ### 2/5 — App and service *2025-08-12, version 4.9.2* Complicated app, overpriced service (50 HUF for a minute!) more expensive than Bolt if You travel in two, bad quality of equipment. Though huge and dense service area. ### 4/5 — Fast perfekt *2025-07-13* Anmeldung schnell und auch in deutsch. Meines Erachtens zu viele Daten dabei abgefragt. Nutzung sehr gut, Preis-/Leistung sehr gut, Budapest ist eine Fahrradstadt mit ausgelegten und gut gepflegten neuen Fahrradwegen, aber immer wieder Hindernisse wie Rad belegt, obwohl im "Parkplatz", Schloss öffnet sich nicht, Fahrrad abgegeben mit Piep quittiert und Zeit läuft weiter, Fahrrad defekt. Alles am Ende regelbar, aber man braucht hier und da Zeit und Nerven. I don’t have a bike station near where I live. But it is still very convenient to get around the city. ### 2/5 — Rips you off *2025-04-05* Should be great but the bike locks are too often broken and you get charged for hours of riding instead of having a free ten minute ride. Poor customer support. Buyer beware. **Developer response:** With a valid MOL Bubi pass, the service is free of charge for the first 30 minutes for each use (for two bikes). For continuous use beyond 30 minutes, you will have to pay a separate usage fee of 50 HUF per minute. Need to check it and call to support service ### 4/5 — Great tool around the city *2025-01-09* Often the lock does not work, everything else is great **Developer response:** Thank you for the review. :) If you find a lock that does not work please report it through the app. ### 5/5 — Alapvetően jó *2025-01-02, version 4.9.2* Két dolog: 1. ha lemerülőben van a telefonom, nem akarok qr kóddal szórakozni, ezért jó lenne közvetlen út a kódbeírós bérléshez. 2. esetleg egy rezgéses figyelmeztetés jó lenne 25p-nél, mert sok desztináció nem érhető el 30p-n belül. (De az sem ördögtől való, ha megemelik 40p-re a max úthosszt és a havidíjat. Egyszerűen nem akarom nézegetni, hogy kifutok-nem futok ki az időből.) +1. ez nem app, hanem infrastruktúra: Párizsban am rengeteg védett bicikliút van, és 40%-kal megnövelte a nők részvételét a biciklizésben. Ahol Pesten nincs külön védett bicikliút, sokszor inkább a járdán megyek, az életem fontosabb, mint az esetleges bírság. (És sajnos az Árpád híd az off, mert ott a járda ahogy láttuk, életveszélyes) A körúton és az Andrássy-n meg ki lehetne pakolni a bicikliutat a parkoló autók túloldalára... és pár betontömbbel megvédeni. A Dagályhoz, a Marina parthoz meg a Római parthoz kénének megállók, akár úgy is, ha feláras lenne, ha az ember nem bubival megy vissza. Gondolom egyre nagyobb gond a rebalance. Hasonlóan a Bosnyákra is kéne állomás. ### 3/5 — Usable but not great *2024-12-15, version 4.9.2* On ios there’s no lock screen alert on the ongoing rental time, no notifications on running out of the 30 min free period. Bike locks seemed to improve in the past period, but they still refuse to end the rental every now and then. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — „Too far away“ *2026-08-16* I tried 10 different bikes and it always said „you are too far away“. The map shows my correct location. With the former, established bikes everything worked. Classic make-it-worse update. Not worth the hassle. Taxis in Budapest never let you down. **Developer response:** Thank you for letting us know! We apologise for the issue and are already working on fixing it; an app update will be released shortly to resolve this problem. ### 1/5 — Service charge *2025-08-26, version 4.9.2* Absolutely ridiculous, letting park in any place but charge you straight away 5000 Huf, called support to let them know that I wasn’t aware of it and I am willing to park in designated place, didn’t get any help there. ### 1/5 — Not on time *2025-08-09, version 4.9.2* Ir does not allow you to use it for 24 hours after you manage to register an account, which is pretty hard fail after fail. It does not let you know why you cannot enter your credit card data and start using the bikes. It’s a waste of time. Therefore, we didn’t manage to use the app and the bikes. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2025-06-02, version 4.9.2* I typed in my number and it never sent me my pin. I am from the U.S. and used country code +1 and also tried 00. Neither worked and then it said I requested my pin too many times. Donkey republic app works great so we went with them instead. ### 1/5 — Didn’t work *2025-05-13* Concept is good but doesn’t work on certain phone numbers **Developer response:** For security reasons, some phone numbers cannot be used with the service. We're here to help! ### 1/5 — Impossible to register *2025-05-10, version 4.9.2* When attempting to register, the app requests a cellphone number to send a PIN. However, it only accepts numeric characters, preventing users from entering the country code with a “+”. If the “+” is omitted, the registration button remains disabled, creating an endless loop that makes registration impossible. ### 1/5 — Money pickers *2025-04-20, version 4.9.2* Not a transparent and honest way to relate with users. Be aware if you don’t left the bike in their specific return point they apply a fee of 5000huf per bike! ### 1/5 — Not intuitive at all *2025-03-08, version 4.9.2* It took us about 10 minutes just to register. When we finally did, the bikes were damaged, and the lock didn’t work. We called customer service, but it was just as bad as the service they offer. After paying for 10 minutes, the support team locked the bike and didn’t refund us. If you want to use a bike-sharing app, go for Lime—it’s way better than this! ### 1/5 — Couldn’t register *2025-02-19* Tried to use this with a UK phone number as a tourist. Unknown domain error entering pin, and wouldn’t work with the autofill on the phone. **Developer response:** If you had trouble registering to our system, please call our customer service via +3613255255 or send a message to one of our social media sites. ### 1/5 — Scam *2025-01-31, version 4.9.2* The app is valid but not very intuitive. There are no instructions inside on how to use it, you have to go to the site and find out about this later, when you have received a fine. Notifications are also poorly made. It was the first time I had used an app like this and by mistake, in a hurry, I parked without knowing it outside the parking area, I received a notification of a fine of 5000tf and that if I wanted explanations to contact customer service, in the same notification however no the reason for the fine was specified. I wrote to customer service who didn't respond, they contacted me with another email address days later and only because there wasn't enough money in the credit card to withdraw the money for the fines. The app works well and it is fast, the only small caveats with MOL Bubi are the same as the inherent limitations of any such system, mainly concerning the physical working of the shared bikes. The customers service is exceptional, they are fast, professional and communicate well. I very highly recommend using MOL Bubi for anyone biking in Budapest, especially if biking only occasionally, but also for biking regularly. However the customer service is amazing and they sorted everything in a two-minute call with no waiting time.
