I use the camera magnifier, which takes the clearest photos (rather than the camera), but there is no way to add the photo. ### 3/5 — Cool concept, but… *2022-12-06, version 3.2.2* Doesn’t seem to be a way to transfer my old data to a new phone. No “account” to log into. Defeats the purpose of longitudinal monitoring ### 4/5 — I hope it keeps developing... *2019-01-24, version 3.1.2* I really like the entire idea behind this project, and I hope there is more to come in the future. But after a year of version 3, I think I have decided that version 2 worked better for me. In particular, I wish the app saved the entire picture every time, instead of keeping only the very closely cropped images of individually tracked moles. I have a lot of small weird moles in clusters, too many to track individually. I had to have another removed this fall, but it was unfortunately not one I had been tracking all along so I didn’t have a record of it... ### 3/5 — App crashes *2018-08-25, version 3.1.0* The app keeps crashing when I try to open my pictures! I've been tracking my moles with the app "Layer Lapse" to zoom in and inspect size and color changes but there is no body map so you must make notes where each mole is located. I would like to continue to use "LayerLapse" and then use this app to body map those photos but I would need be able to select photos already created rather than taking live photos each time. Using this app, if you don't perfectly align 2 circles each time you take a picture then the calculations may be misleading so it is best to compare the pictures visually rather than using a reference size. Perhaps you contact the "Layer Lapse" dev and see if you 2 can collaborate with your code and create an app together. I saw on the "Lets talk iOS" podcast site that the "LayerLapse" dev was giving his sourcecode to anyone that wanted to use it with research kit! ### 3/5 — I really want to do it! *2015-11-01, version 2.0.1* As a melanoma cancer survivor I want to participate in the study. And also to be able to track my hundreds of moles. I gave 3 stars for effort and great idea. However, it keeps crashing. Did the sign up 3 times. Can't use it. Keeps kicking back to the beginning when attempting to sign up. The tutorial keeps jumping back to instructions already given. To frustrating to continue. Tapping it does nothing, and there's no outline around the button like there should be. This app needs to be optimized for the larger displays of the 6 and 6+. Which is a pity, because those are exactly the places where one might be more inclined to use a semi-anonymous app, and probably data about the evolution of moles there would be even more precious than other places where data is more abundant. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 *2020-09-19, version 3.2.2* I can not recommend this app enough! I work in dermatology and see melanoma on the regular. I use this app to track my moles and I ended up having several biopsied, one being melanoma! The best thing about this is that the app can help track moles in the early stages before it gets too dangerous! Thank you!! ### 5/5 — A lot of potential *2019-10-15, version 3.2.0* I like it so far. The app pretty solid. Some areas to improve: 1) No picture upload from existing photos unfortunately 2) No automatic mole mapping, you need to manually map the moles and some people might heave lots of them 3) No individual mole mode, only wide areas on skin possible 4) Wide area skin photos for sides of your body not available 5) Auto rotation & scale, so it’s easier to compare your mole photos 6) Mole area square size calculator, so you can track the size over the time. You can allow users to paint out the mole on the image manually ### 5/5 — Great mole tracking tool *2018-11-30, version 3.1.1* I’ve been using MoleMapper since the very beginning to track my many moles, some of which were melanomas. Version 3 is a huge improvement and with the fixes for iOS 12 in place it has been working flawlessly. I am hopeful the research being done with the data collected will help find a cure. ### 5/5 — Perfect!!! Must have *2018-03-14, version 3.0.3* The only free app i could find that actually measures changes in your moles. You include a US coin for size comparison in every picture. Then you select the outline of every mole in the picture as well as the size & type of coin. Compared to other apps the focus is really clear, you can get pretty good pictures of your moles & even calibrate your camera through the app. It allows you to lable every single mole of any size. Whats hilarious is the app names every mole for you!! My most risky one is named “John Lennon” lol. It makes mapping moles kind of fun. The app also logs every part of your body & encourages you to complete each “zone”. I really think this app could save lives by showing risk signs of melanoma over time! You can watch slideshows of every mole you map which makes it super easy to see any changes.
