If they want to force you to pay $$$ then make it affordable. 80-90 bucks outrageous! ### 2/5 — Wifi struggles *2026-05-21, version 8.0.4* My minis both connected intermittently over the first couple of years that I had them and then they both stopped connecting. Super frustrating. I have spent way too much time and energy trying to fix the problem. I’ve used many 3rd party filters with no problem, but because molekule sells their filters at an egregious price, they now call anything else a “knockoff” and limit what you can do. It is so obviously a money-grab and it is beneath a company to do so. It does not match the “values” the company pretends to hold according to their marketing. ### 1/5 — App Filter Usage Broken *2026-05-02, version 8.0.4* The app can’t accurately tell me when to replace my filters. It used to work but now it says I’m at 90% for months regardless of how much it is used. Then if I replace a filter it may say the filter is less than 20% if it has only been used lightly for a few weeks. Most of the time I can never even reset the filter usage so just have to guess. I called support years ago when this started and it has only gotten worse since. To top it off the actuator that pushes up the cylinder is broken and that makes replacing the filters worse. I’m glad the filters are a subscription because that is the only thing reminding me to check if it needs it, cause the app just don’t work. ### 4/5 — Filter Replacement Notification *2026-04-30, version 8.0.4* Apologies if this is user error (don’t think it is), one feature I simply cannot believe is that a part of the app is a notification to let you know when your filter needs to be replaced. I regularly forget to check in the filter been down to zero. There are much better products available and many for a fraction of the price of this overhyped air purifier and the greedy company that tries to keep you dependent on their filters for the life of the product. I bought the large purifier in 2020 and the air mini + in 2023. The app has never worked in the entire time since then. Customer service is absolutely useless. Once or twice a year, they seem to make some fixes and the app will work for a day or two, then I open it up and the purifiers are disconnected or the filter % have reset to 0% despite having replaced them recently. The app is completely useless. The final straw was when I realized after years of wasting money on the overpriced filters that I was replacing way too often due to the non-functioning app not providing accurate data, that I could buy the exact same dupes for less money. I open the app and see a warning (they tried to make it sound like you’re doing something immoral and very bad by trying to use the air purifier you bought without agreeing to strings attached for life) that the app no longer supports air purifiers using unbranded filters aka unless you waste money on overpriced filters you can’t use your air purifiers. Since the app has never worked, losing access to the app isn’t actually the punishment Molekule thinks it is. Regardless, I’m selling or giving away both and have replaced them with superior purifiers that cost a fraction of the price. I chose these Molekule air purifiers because I thought they looked nice, but that’s pointless when my priority is being able to breathe and the company doesn’t want anyone to use the app or their purifiers apparently. ### 3/5 — Not sure I can tell the difference *2026-04-15, version 8.0.3* I’ve had this thing for years, and only really keep it because I’m justifying the high up front cost … feels more like good marketing than anything else. ### 1/5 — Why am I doing the work for this purifier? *2026-04-12, version 8.0.3* I really wanted to love this, but it’s been frustrating. The biggest issue is that it doesn’t seem to pick up on changes in air quality on its own. If there’s a smell or something in the air, I end up having to manually turn the fan up myself. Otherwise it just sits there like nothing’s wrong. For something this expensive, I expected it to be a lot more responsive and intuitive. And I don’t say that lightly. I’ve had it for 4-5 years and whenever I get it to start working, they do an update and I run into new issues. The level of trouble with simply connecting to Bluetooth or something else relatively trivial has caused me to question if Molekule actually makes a good air purifier?? ### 1/5 — App Crashes *2026-03-28, version 8.0.3* The app crashes more times than I can count and the actual Molekule devices themselves are constantly disconnecting from the app so when they somehow are constants disconnecting on their I can’t even connect them back because the app just crashes. ### 4/5 — App needs more features *2026-03-25, version 8.0.3* Had mine for about 6 years running non stop. Very durable! Host of monitoring capabilities but they shut this off if you don’t buy their filters that cost over half of initial unit costs. However, I don’t have full access to the app because I use a non-Molecule replacement filter. since I have four machines, the price difference is $600 a year. Purchasing filters for molecule is three times the price of what’s available out there. I guess I’ll just live without the app. I wonder if this could be a class action lawsuit. It was not communicated upfront that we would be restricted access to the app and control of the machine prior to purchasing it. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can I return this? *2026-08-31, version 8.0.4* Bottom line is, beautiful design but comes with a garbage app that won’t work regardless of what you do. Spent so much money and would expect this to work without a slip up but as you can read, many users have the same problem. Don’t buy this but get the Dyson air purifier, app work like clockwork and also shows you thru the app what particles it’s trapping.
