One useful feature that could be added is a calendar view, which would allow users to easily browse and access past entries. Additionally, incorporating mood tags would make it easier to track and reflect on emotional states over time. Another suggestion is to add a quick check-in option for users to record daily activities, similar to the Daylio app. This would be especially helpful for those who may not have the time or energy to write longer entries, but still want to keep a record of their daily experiences. For example, users could simply select options such as "went to school/work," "met up with friends," or "exercised." Overall, while this journal app shows promise, there are several areas where it could be improved to enhance the user experience. ### 4/5 — Nice app but... *2024-02-03, version 2.0.3* It would be great to share some or all my data share (export) as pdf (and also movie, word html). A digital scrapbook. Social media but just for yourself. I’m now excited to take pictures when I go places because I know I’ll actually see them again and they won’t be forever lost in my photos. The app is not the smoothest, but with no subscription fee it is better than I could ever hope for. It’s so refreshing to pay for an app once and get what was advertised to you with no strings attached and without constant notifications. other apps need to take notes because Momently does everything right ### 5/5 — Fantastic! *2023-02-22* I use it all the time! I love the look, feel, and ease of use! Maybe a calendar view in the future, but everything works great! Subscription models push me away, especially when there is no added service.. your app rivals one of the top apps in my humble opinion.. Note i have to look for the prompts to add more info to my entry. Not a deal breaker. Just would like the prompts to be more automatic. If i see the prompt i can add more or skip to the next. ### 5/5 — Simply Beautiful *2022-12-17* Really great concept and a beautiful design (along with a nice accompanying website). The app has a minimal design (which I like) but great feature set. Before I was writing and adding photos to my journal app Diarly but switched to Momently. One big benefit over doing it in something like a journal is the profiles feature. There isn’t really any lock-in which is great. You have some exporting options to some apps but if you don’t use those you have a backup which is a JSON file along with an assets (images) directory. The JSON file opens many doors to extracting what data you want. I highly recommend trying Momently. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Was great, now crashes upon launch *2024-08-06* Loved this app and used it all the time. Then, for some reason it started crashing upon launch, and I can no longer use it. Could you please reach out to the support email address support@momently.app instead of giving the app a bad rating 😅 ### 1/5 — User onboarding has so much friction *2023-03-26* I had high hopes on trying this app but I didn’t get pass the initial onboarding flow because apparently a profile picture is an essential requirement that needs to be fulfilled before you even get to see what makes this app worthwhile. Why is it an unskippable step? Just use a default avatar if the user doesn’t want to upload a picture. ### 1/5 — Looks beautiful but doesn’t work *2022-12-31* I’ve tried it a few times and every single time, after a few minutes of using it, I suddenly get a blank screen with “Locked Out” written at the top. There’s nothing to tap and nothing you can do except kill the app and start the whole thing again. Only to be randomly hit with the same Locked Out screen again. I haven’t been able to use it for more than 10 minutes at a time without this crash/bug. I’ve deleted and re-downloaded and same result. I’m using an iPhone 12 with the latest public OS. It’s a shame as it looks really nice. **Developer response:** Sorry to hear you are having trouble. It looks like you switched or logged into your device with a different Apple ID then you used to set up Momently. The reason why you see this screen is to avoid syncing Momently with different Apple ID’s and corrupting your data. Try to delete the app and reinstalling it should resolve it. Just text. The app window alignment and keyboard are glitched on my iPhone 15 Pro. I really like the fact that you can add trips, or add people to a day. I really wish there was a widget or some statistics like your current streak though. Benefits: • The layout is easy to use; minimalist • There are many different custom options • icloud works well with other devices • no ads Improvements: • I would like if the developers could add things such as folders or files for different types of logs! It aligns with the rising trend of non-subscription, privacy-focused apps, making it a refreshing choice. I gladly invested in the app, but look forward to improvements and bug fixes, particularly for the issue with longer entries where the text isn't displayed. Automatic location addition to entries and integration with the new iOS Journaling API would enhance the overall user experience. Importantly, the DayOne migration worked flawlessly! Keep up the great work and keep the updates coming please! ### 5/5 — Apple Journal app done properly *2023-12-13* This app looks exactly like the Apple journal app released as part of iOS 17.2. However, this app has all of the basic features which the Apple app is sorely missing. Additionally, this app has so many advanced features that experienced journal writers from Day One, Journey and Card Diary will be able to import their data and do away with expensive subscriptions.
