### 1/5 — Apple Watch

*2020-08-12*

### 2/5 — Awesome - Bummer

*2020-04-29*

Love the app - great UI with easy to read fonts and flexibility to let me choose how I want to see my metrics. Nothing else like this in the AppStore. Everything else is far too cluttered and unnecessarily complicated. The only thing I would love to see is integration with Apple Health. Otherwise - no need to change a thing!

Update - need to change something. I no longer have a power meter and just realized that I can’t simply pair my cadence to the app anymore :(. Can you please add the ability to pair a plain old cadence sensor?

### 2/5 — apple watch sync???

*2020-02-16*

scanning for device...... never finds my apple watch to sync. help!! but fun otherwise.

### 2/5 — No Apple Watch or Apple Health?

*2019-12-11*

Cannot use Apple Watch for heart-rate. There is no tie in with Apple Health on the iPhone.

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing

*2019-10-29*

I’ve tried to use this app multiple times today and as soon as you hit go it crashes. Used to be a great app not sure what the problem is now 😡

**Developer response:** Hi! Apologies for this issue, we are trying to figure out what went wrong. Could I ask you to write to us at support@motosumo.com and let us know what email you have used for your profile in the app? That would make it a lot easier for us to investigate the issue. Thanks!

### 2/5 — So buggy

*2019-10-28*

I don’t know about anyone else, but this app is so buggy. If I lose signal or if swap apps in the middle of a ride, the app stops tracking me. If someone calls me during the ride, the ride is shot and it won’t save it or track me during it. No point in even using the app. I’ve been using it instead of an Apple Watch but now I guess if i want a reliable tracker might as well give up on app solutions and just get the watch and use that native app.

**Developer response:** Hi!

I am sorry to hear you are not happy with the app. To measure cadence for you without the need for any pricey external sensors, the app needs to sample the sensors of the phone and send that data back and forth to our servers to calculate the cadence. That is unfortunately not allowed unless the app is running in the foreground, so that is why it stops when you take a call or lose the signal. We would love to perform those operations for you with the app in the background, but unfortunately it is not allowed by Apple. So unless they change that, there is nothing we can do at this point.

If you have further questions, don't hesitate to get in touch on support@motosumo.com.

### 3/5 — Profile data issue

*2019-10-07*

Recently I Certified through schwinn and this was recommended for studios that don’t carry the consoles computing power output or rpm’s for the participants as well as various other features it has. While I haven’t used it yet in a live ride cycle yet; imputing my personal data was a rough experience. It would NOT accept my bday. Despite my efforts to manipulate the info so it would display correctly. This required me to manually enter things that would normally be “automatically” adjusted. A little frustrating and makes me skeptical of the app’s ability to truly report accurate RPM’s. We shall see.

**Developer response:** Hi J. Vesper,

I am sorry you had such a bad first experience with the app. Regarding the issue with your birthday, I will follow up and see what the problem could be. Just to make it clear, that issue should have absolutely no connection to the RPM, so hopefully those should work fine.

I am curious to what other data you were required to enter that you otherwise wouldn't have had to? If you are interested in providing more information so I can get to the bottom of this issue or if you have any other issues, please write at support@motosumo.com.

Best wishes,
Jens from Motosumo.

### 1/5 — Great app

*2019-09-26, version 2.24.0*

Disgusted with the attitude of these people . I have downloaded the application which is supposed to be free with my gym friends and now they are charging the clubs for it. Why say it’s free ???

### 1/5 — Cadence work is off by 2x about 50% of time

*2018-01-17*

Not reliable. IOS 11.2 on iPhone 5S.
Cadence alternates keeps alternating, sometime correct sometimes half or double of actual cadence. Wild fluctuations are distraction in spin class. Sometimes group is displayed and sometimes not. I use a rigid bike mount I use on my road bike. Other spin class participants use a rubber band type mount. Not working well for anyone in class.

**Developer response:** Dear Leebeau. I am sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience with the app. We've had a few of these reports lately and we are trying hard to find the problem to make sure you get the best possible experience. Information on when and where you had experienced such bad data would be very helpful. If you could share at support@motosumo.com I would be very grateful. Best wishes, Jens from Motosumo.

### 2/5 — Same problem as bygshow

*2018-01-16*

Our spin class of a dozen or so all used the old app. Since the update, wildly erratic performance. When we get past frustration, we drop our phones on the padded floor. By the time the class ends we all do. Please fix it.

**Developer response:** Dear Tommy. Sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience with the new app. If you could send me an email at support@motosumo.com with your Motosumo username (email) I will try to look at your data in order to fix the issue. Best wishes, Jens from Motosumo.

### 1/5 — Potential

*2018-01-11, version 2.0.5*

Just started using the app, it’s awesome when it works but it only records my cadence accurately for about 50% of my spinning session.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Não funciona

*2023-03-06*

Pessimo é muito pessimo
Não baixem
Propaganda enganosa
Ruim de mais
Trazer um Relogios de casa e mmil vezes melhor

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2023-01-13*

So disappointed this app is going away. I teach in a gym with bikes that have no computers, I tell the members to use this app to get the most out of their ride, the new motosumo is not easy to use and the members would need a subscription or to watch adds. Totally not practical for the members.

### 1/5 — Não funciona

*2022-03-18*

Horrível, parece estar funcionando e no final n salva o histórico. Sempre fica que treinei segundos depois de ter feito 1 hora mesmo eu deixando destravado e conferindo o tempo todo

### 1/5 — UI doesnt work

*2022-02-01*

Cant exit workout, no buttons that do anything

### 1/5 — Muito ruim

*2021-09-22*

Não tem versão em português

### 1/5 — Mudança de nome

*2021-02-03*

### 1/5 — Apple Watch

*2020-09-11*

Não lê a frequência cardíaca do Apple Watch. Lamentável!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2020-10-21, version 2.72.0*

Meets my needs perfectly! Great app!!!

### 5/5 — Outstanding app

*2020-10-20, version 2.72.0*

This app is great for workouts, very intuitive, with Strava and Pratique serving as perfect enhanced add-one to optimise each session.

### 5/5 — Incredible platform for our cycling studio!

*2020-03-15*

This has been a game changer! I love how interactive it is between the instructor and riders. I also love how it tracks every workout right on my phone. Best find!!

### 5/5 — Good

*2020-02-21, version 2.43.0*

Good app but the one thing they needs to be changed is when you minimise the app and it’s running in the background on phone, if it’s left for a minute or so (ie flicking through songs on Spotify) when you go back to the workout it automatically stops the workout and saves it, it’s done this twice now since I’ve been using since December. Is there no way we can have an option to continue the workout without the app saving?? Otherwise you have to start a new workout.
Thanks.

### 5/5 — Does the job, but... (revised)

*2019-03-06*

After using the app multiple times now and considering the developers DETAILED response below I feel an increase in my original rating is warranted. To the MotoSumo team, keep up the good. What I originally thought was a fault on the apps part was in fact the bikes ability to produce a steady output not the app. There is no reason not to use this FREE app. And keep that in mind, it is free and there are no annoying adverts that pop up while in use.

*******

Used today during spin class and it stayed fairly steady throughout. There were times when I would drop cadence just a little and it seemed to take a nose dive. There’s no option to change what shows on the display though and that seems like a pretty basic functionality not to have. There’s no speed or distance that shows on the display while you’re using it; you won’t know any of that until you finish. So no workouts based upon speed or distance. Not syncing with iHealth or the iWatch is a little disappointing. If you want your HR you’ll have to buy a separate HR monitor. Developers need to get on that ASAP!

Now, what I do like about it is the functionality and ease of use. Account creation was simple and quick. The dark display is nice in class as the instructor turns down the lights and no one wants a bright display in their face. The color changes as you increase your effort is also very nice. Easy to see out of your peripheral eyesight without having to look at display is very nice.

Overall this app has the potential be very successful and the go-to source for indoor cycling. It definitely does show that the developers have put A LOT of work into and from the amount of times they have responded to feedback they seem to care about their product. If the functionality increases to support more display preferences and compatibility with the watch and health then I will definitely come back and jump up the stars.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review and for the kind words. We appreciate the feedback and will take all your suggestions into consideration. A few specifics:

1) Integrating with Apple Watch is on our roadmap, but since it is only used by a minority of our users, it haven't had high priority this far.

2) We have no current plans on integrating with Apple Health, but we will take your suggestion into consideration.

3) We can clearly consider to add speed and distance as metrics during the workout. Thank you for bringing this forward as a suggestion.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write such a thorough review and for all of your suggestion.

Best wishes,

Jens from Motosumo

### 5/5 — Exactly what I was looking for

*2018-06-04*

I am a road biker and wanted to do indoor cycling at home on our spinning bike. This app allows me to measure cadence, speed and heart rate (with HR monitor) super easy and accurate. One question to the developer: Unfortunately I cannot install a watt pedal on our bike. Could you integrate an estimate of your power based on HR, VO2max or FTP? Would be great! Strava also estimates your power so there should be away! This would be a super add-on!

**Developer response:** Hi Tim. Thank you for your review. We are actually working on developing a power solution similar to what you are describing. Drop us an email at support@motosumo.com if you want more info. Regards, Jens from Motosumo.

### 5/5 — No magnets, No wires

*2017-02-03*

This App accurately measures my cadence for 40rpm and up. It's simple, no magnets, no wires. It's incredible, my favorite App.

### 5/5 — Cool, but needs Apple Health support

*2016-07-16*

Wow! A app that's simple, one that avoids issues with in app purchases, an app that wait WHAT?!!! It measures how fast you cycle WITHOUT any external sensors?? This is a "Yes!" app! It just needs Apple Health support to be perfect.

### 4/5 — Good app, needs Apple Watch Integration

*2021-01-08*

I’ve used this app a handful of times, and it seems to work well and with a great UI. The only feature I wish it had was Apple Watch integration for heart rate and/or other statistics. This app still achieves every other goal I’m looking for, so I stand by it being worth the extra few minutes checking out my heart rate elsewhere while they work on that feature.

### 4/5 — Great app

*2018-04-08*

Love this app and it’s ease of use. It has improved my workouts and the immediate feedback on the screen of what level I am working at keeps me engaged and improving each time I workout.

Only complaint is there is no way to share data between my iwatch and the app for heart rate, cadence etc.
