## What is Money Forecast?

Money Forecast allows you to track your finances with litte data input only! Simply enter your current account balance as well as (recurrent) transactions (e.g., salary and expenses) and see how your balance will develop over the next few weeks and months. If the prediction was wrong, simply correct it by specifying the actual balance at a specific date, which is used as new basis for further predictions then.

This way it helps you to plan your financial situation, and also to decide if an investment should be made now or better later, for example. Also, this app allows you to avoid situations where you forgot about some outgoing transactions and end up with an overdrawn account balance.

The best thing about Money Forecast, however, is that you do not need to constantly add new micro transactions - just enter the balance on a particular date, create estimated recurring income/expenses and correct either the balance or actual payments later (for a particular date).

First use instructions:
1) Enter the current balance.
2) Add recurrent or one-time transactions (i.e., income and expenses).
3) See how your finances will develop over the next few weeks, months, and years!
4) Adjust the actual account balance for specific (future) dates. This will correct wrong estimations.
5) Adjust the actual value of a recurrent transaction for specific dates only. Simply double-tap the recurring entry in the trends view to adjust (by creating a 'Transaction Exception')!

You can manage several accounts with this app (e.g., for several people in your family) and you can also use a PIN (or Touch ID / Face ID) to protect your data! Since the app synchronizes via iCloud, you can also see/edit the data from several devices and restore your data after a complete re-install.

## Key features

- Minimal data input for tracking
- Predicts balance over weeks/months
- Corrects predictions with actual balances
- Manages multiple accounts

- iCloud synchronization across devices

### 1/5 — TOO MUCH, TOO LATE!!!

*2026-07-31*

I’ve been using this app for 8-10 years and have loved it because it was simple, fast, and predictable. After 5 YEARS WITHOUT 'ANY' UPDATES, a series of recent redesigns made several cosmetic changes that, in my opinion, HURT USABILITY without adding any real value.

The biggest issue is that the SCREEN LAYOUT was COMPLETELY REARRANGED 'just because'.

The cash flow chart, which is only a visual summary, is now at the top of the screen, while the estimated transaction amounts, the information users actually need to review and edit every month, are BURIED in smaller font and harder to find. After nearly a decade of muscle memory, everything feels backwards.

The RUNNING BALANACE is also displayed much more prominently, while the individual estimated payments (credit cards, utilities, etc.) are visually de-emphasized. Those estimates are what drive the balance, so they should remain the focus.

If the goal was simply to modernize the look, please make these layout changes optional. A simple toggle to place the chart at the top or bottom, and another to reduce the emphasis on the running balances, would let new users enjoy the new design without disrupting those of us who have relied on this app for looking more efficiently for a decade.

I’m not asking for the new design to be removed. I just want the option to use the layout that made this app so efficient for so many years. Right now, it’s noticeably slower and more frustrating to use than it needs to be.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the detailed feedback, and especially for supporting Money Forecast for so many years. I completely understand how frustrating it can be when a familiar layout changes after you have relied on it for nearly a decade.

Please update to version 5.30. It brings back the option to use a layout much closer to the original design, including compact transaction rows, a choice of emphasizing either transaction amounts or running balances, and the option to place the chart at the bottom of the screen. You can configure these options in the app’s settings.

Version 5.30 also adds transaction search and a new monthly overview.

The main purpose of the version 5.0 update was a complete internal modernization of the app using Apple’s latest iOS frameworks. This was necessary to ensure compatibility with current and future iOS versions and to make continued updates possible. However, I agree that this modernization should not come at the expense of the efficient workflow long-term users are accustomed to.

Thank you again for taking the time to explain your concerns. Feedback from experienced users like you was an important reason for bringing these layout options back.

### 5/5 — Update to Version 5.0

*2026-07-16*

Following two updates to Version 5.0 the app is now running exactly as expected - a very useful tool with excellent user interface. Thanks to the developer for the work put into this

### 4/5 — Great finance management app

*2026-07-14*

It’d be great if you added loans/ an amortisation/ extra repayments calculator as one of the debit account types

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-07-14*

This AP is invaluable. I’ve used it for years and it has helped me manage my finances perfectly. I love that it projects balances based on future transactions. Well worth the subscription.

### 5/5 — Perfect planning tool!

*2026-07-14*

Budget apps are great but there is really nothing out there to manage cash flow. This app lets me project out two years and lets me see where my trouble spots are and adjust. It has helped me tremendously in planning to buy both small and big purchases. And an amazing price!

### 5/5 — Highly Recommend this App!!

*2026-07-12, version 5.02*

I discovered this app a few years ago and absolutely love it! I recommend it to everyone I come across. It has helped me and my now husband to know what new bills we can afford. I used it to project how much more we could afford on rent or new car purchases. I only wish it was available for my friends that have android devices. I love the update being able to put it on my MacBook now! The new look will take some getting used to. I don’t like the graph being smaller now and wish I could adjust the size to make it bigger.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-05-11*

This app is awesome if you want to predict your balances on your accounts through recurring transactions.

### 4/5 — What I was looking for

*2026-04-26*

A great app that tracks my expenditure in real time, with a running cash flow. Exactly what I was looking for. A few tweaks would make it perfect for me -

-Adding a few more date options ie last day of the month, last Friday of the month etc

- a swipe as paid to make it quick and easy in the transactions section that comes off the balance.

Other than these it’s a great app and I would highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Fantastic App

*2025-08-11*

This app is exactly what I was looking for. I emailed the developer with a question, and he responded right away.

### 5/5 — Excellent App!

*2025-04-04*

An app that I can see short and long term forecasts on my money. I finally understand if I need to spend on something, especially if it’s a bigger spend, what impact that has
