## What is Money Up!?

Looking for an ACCESSIBLE app to teach or reinforce how to use money in real life situations? Money Up is the perfect app for children learning to handle money, kids, teens and adults with developmental disabilities as well as for therapists who work with stroke survivors, those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, and more.

Money Up was designed by teachers and therapists as a way for people to practice working out how much money they have, if they have enough to purchase the items they need and how much money to give a cashier, all without requiring them to count change. The app’s goal is to help children, teens and adults to acquire or maintain a life skill they need in order to foster independence.

The app currently supports the following currencies:

• Australian dollar
• Canadian dollar
• U.S. dollar
• British Pound
• Euro
• New Zealand dollar
• Singaporean dollar

In addition to teaching the ‘Dollar Up’ technique, seven games provide the user with practice using it in the following situations:

• Identifying notes and coins
• How much to pay when shown a price total
• How much to pay when told a price total
• Checking how much money they have
• Working out how much money to hand over
• Paying for items
• Calculating if they have enough money to pay for items

• Five friendly characters with which to interact!
• Support for both English and Spanish languages

All aspects of Money Up have been designed to make it as accessible as possible and initial feedback from parents, teachers and therapists has been extremely positive:

"The lesson content is the important thing. It really has been useful for us. One student on the money program went from getting nowhere to almost mastering it in a fortnight, and when I asked her, she had been playing it in her free time."

"My [autistic] 16 year old just learned the method in 2 goes. I'm showing his teacher next week!!"

"Smooth design, no glitching, no need for a manual as I was able to get it started and working with the kids in minutes."

### 4/5 — Useful but very expensive

*2017-10-29*

While I like using this app it was too expensive IMO.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback; I'm glad you like Money Up. Pricing is always difficult to get right for everyone. Given the nature of the app, I've had to set the price where it is simply to cover the cost of ongoing enhancements. I would love to set it lower but I'm not able to do so.

### 5/5 — Good program .

*2015-05-26*

This program seems to cover something that will help a lot of different groups of people. Lots of folk who are in need of help along these lines can be helped by teachers and carers using this app.

The first copy was good but this has really surpassed it. The graphics are so good. It would be more inviting for those who have a bit less understanding than others. I hope folk will give it a try. Elizabeth

### 5/5 — Fantastic app

*2015-05-24*

This is exactly the app I wished I’d had when I was teaching special ed. It will be invaluable in a special needs setting, and I intend using it with my younger children as they learn money skills. The activities are well planned, and I love the different options that let you customise the app for different students. It is great to see an app with multiple currency options, and to have realistic representation of the notes and coins. The characters are delightful too. Highly recommended.

### 4/5 — Speech Pathologist

*2014-06-19*

A great app for learning money skills for all ages. I love the way that you can access different currencies, add your own grocery items and have multiple users.

### 4/5 — Great learning tool!

*2014-05-05*

Love it! Able to quickly change setting for different students and the kids like their money games. Wish their was a little more instructions for teachers, but overall the perfect addition to teaching money.

### 5/5 — Making learning fun

*2014-02-12*

A lot of thought has gone into this app and if it doesn't make learning about money for young people easier I would be surprised

Especially when going into a shop to purchase goods, I really love the audio aspect of the app because it developed both hearing and seeing senses

Keep up the great work
