I can well understand that the new design may initially seem confusing or disappointing. Especially when you’ve been using an app for such a long time, a major change can quickly feel wrong. At the same time, I’d like to point out frankly that MoneyControl has been continuously developed over the years and has received numerous free updates. A very harsh review based solely on a design change directly harms the app – and, consequently, the very further development from which all users benefit in the long term. The app was originally launched on iOS 3. If it still looked the same today as it did back then, it would not be fit for the future, either technically or in terms of design. Change is therefore necessary to keep the app stable and usable in the years to come. Do you have any specific suggestions as to where the app is now less user-friendly? Then I couldn’t recover all my entries after reinstalling. The back up was supposed to be in drop box. Maybe u could do something about it so it doesn’t repeat in the future. C’est une application fiable et réellement indispensable au quotidien. Le nouveau design m’a d’abord surprise, mais je suis finalement très satisfaite car l’évolution va clairement dans le bon sens. Suite à cette nouvelle version, j’ai contacté l’équipe car une fonctionnalité (le nombre de jours restants) avait disparu. Leur réponse a été très rapide et surtout très professionnelle. Ils ont été à l’écoute, bienveillants et réellement prêts à étudier les remarques, ce qui est suffisamment rare pour être souligné. Je repars donc sans hésiter pour plusieurs années avec cette nouvelle version. ### 5/5 — Tired of waiting for a transaction to clear so you know your balance? *2026-02-01* This app makes everything easy. Once you get in the habit of inputting data it become super easy to manage. You can know at any time exactly how much money you have in all accounts all while seeing where your money is flowing. Getting reports is also an easy thing with the app. ### 1/5 — Updated design but no new features in years *2026-01-25* The update just introduced a new confusing layout with 0 new features. When can we expect some new features? Update based on developer response: Many thanks for the response to my review. The update even removed various valuable features (eg. the expense shortcut feature on the main page, ability to reorder bank accounts by drag/dropping, maybe others?). I am glad to see that there is still an option to revert to the old design. Some features/updates that would be useful include: - FX support (accounts in different currencies, automatic conversion of FX) - connection to bank accounts for easier import of transactions and checking of balances - fixing the bugs that's can lead to monthly recurring transactions slipping into new months if scheduled on the 31. of a month **Developer response:** Update: We can only respond to reviews with very limited text and long delays. It's true that we are sparing with new features, because after 15 years, the app is simply already "pretty complete". Of course, we could add new features every week. But which ones? And what for? Soon, the app would have so many features that none of them would be usable anymore. That wouldn't be in your interest either, would it? Design is always a matter of personal taste, which makes your feedback — including critical comments — particularly valuable to us. That said, is it really reasonable to punish the app with a lower rating simply because it continues to evolve? If the app had not changed at all, would it still deserve a full 5-star rating today? That doesn’t seem entirely fair. If the app still looked the way it did in 2011 with version 1 on iOS 3, it likely wouldn’t be in use anymore 🤓 App Store ratings have a direct impact on how easily the app can be found.
