### 2/5 — Syncing

*2026-08-14, version 2.37*

I stopped using the iOS app because Dropbox syncing is unreliable. The desktop app can overwrite iOS entries instead of merging them. Clearing the Dropbox data periodically helps, but it is inconvenient. I now use two alternatives I created: QIF Shortcut Export, which creates QIF files on my iPad for desktop import, and Local IP Transfer, which sends transactions over my internal WiFi to a desktop program for Moneydance.

### 2/5 — Stop asking me for reviews

*2026-08-12, version 2.37*

Constantly getting pop up asking for review. It’s very annoying. Perhaps they will stop now that I have posted.

### 2/5 — Forced to write review

*2026-06-29, version 2.37*

Glitchy, but just ok for basic log of account. Forced me to write a review.

### 3/5 — Quite good

*2026-06-23, version 2.37*

Does most things well enough - we preferred Quicken when it was available.

### 4/5 — It works nicely

*2026-06-20, version 2.37*

It works nicely.

### 3/5 — Writing this review in hopes they stop asking for one

*2026-06-09, version 2.37*

There you go

### 4/5 — Very Good Personal Money App

*2026-06-01, version 2.37*

My wife and I got this app after Quicken died. We wanted an app that we could use to track our bank accounts and credit card charges across multiple devices and people. I know it does a whole more, but it also does these simple tasks quite well.

### 4/5 — Great app

*2026-05-15, version 2.37*

Great app to track and plan expenses.
Can be a bit clunky with formatting entries and ability to zoom text.

### 5/5 — Incredibly useful

*2026-05-12, version 2.37*

This apps helps organised my finance 24/7 i can not imagine without it….

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-04-30, version 2.37*

Brilliant and useful app

### 2/5 — It’s OK

*2026-04-25, version 2.37*

The app is buggy and hasn’t had any upgrades or updates for quite some time. It just scrapes in as “better than nothing”. I am a fan of the core product but this is disappointing.

### 4/5 — Best I could find

*2026-02-13, version 2.37*

I’ve tried / used several personal finance apps over the years. I’ve been using Moneydance for probably 10+ years now because it works on iOS, macOS, Windows, and Linux and does an OK job of syncing between all of them (have used Dropbox sync and iCloud sync). It’s very reasonably priced and works alright. The mobile app doesn’t support some things which I have to do on the desktop version and I’ve never been able to get the desktop version to automatically download transactions from my bank… those are my only major complaints (sure, the UI could use some polish for small usability improvements but nothing major).

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2026-02-07, version 2.37*

Been using for over 5 years. Great being able to update from my iPhone and then reconcile on the laptop.

### 5/5 — Occasionally have to restart

*2026-02-04, version 2.37*

Every so often the totals don’t tally. Fix by restarting the app

It would be v useful if investments were shown

Assets I find I never look at on the App

### 5/5 — Great way to manage and understand your personal finances

*2026-01-31, version 2.37*

I’ve been using it for 13 years now, and it is great

### 3/5 — Sorry to have to downgrade from my original review.

*2026-01-20, version 2.37*

I started using the iOS app several years ago and had no trouble syncing with my Windows PC. But recently I got rid of my PC and switched to a MacBook. Nothing but trouble trying to sync the iPad and the MacBook. The iPad app will not display the transactions for some accounts. Their support was prompt and helpful at first, but now they have ghosted me. I turned to AI for help which got me a bit further but then it admitted defeat. My only solace is that the MacBook is small and light enough that I don’t really need the iPad app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App is great. Bugging me to review is not

*2026-08-28, version 2.37*

Constant request for review every time I log an entry is driving me to give a 1 star review. Love the app, but constant invasive review requests are not appreciated

### 1/5 — Asks for a rating after every transaction.

*2026-07-19, version 2.37*

I would give this app more stars if it didn’t ask me for a review after every transaction. I guess that’s supposed to be a feature. Well here is your stinking review.

### 1/5 — Annoying

*2026-06-18, version 2.37*

I just want to use the app but they keep asking me to leave a review. Every time I open the app it wants me to leave a review. It’s infuriating.

### 1/5 — Turn off the request for review

*2026-05-29, version 2.37*

Every time I use the app, the option comes up at the end of it to give it stars and to write a review. I don’t like writing reviews, but I can’t get around this. Please turn off this option so you’re not getting dinged with one star, which is for what is a pretty good app, but with an incessant request.

### 1/5 — Poor but works

*2025-04-11, version 2.37*

This has to be the most poorly supported app I have ever used. I have been using Moneydance for around 13 years, if not longer. Every suggestion of bug I have ever reported has never been dealt with. The app continues to be cumbersome and unreliable. I upgrade the desktop version, and pay when I need to but despite mine, and others loyalty, nothing ever really improves. This shows lack of respect for their customers who continue to support them. If nothing else, I wish the developers would add thousands comma separators to values. I requested this years ago but the company appears too arrogant to listen to what customers would like.

### 1/5 — Needs some TLC

*2024-02-10*

Moneydance has been around for many years, but progress on the app and Mac usability side is slow. To be frank, the developers should be ashamed of the features and usability of this app. For example, it lacks some basic customisations that would help usability. And it sometimes crashes for no reason. Thankfully, features are much better on the Mac version, so the app is just a very stripped down companion for handy viewing and quick transaction entry.

I think the company needs to hire someone with better usability skills, to make the Mac and app versions easier to use, more visually attractive, and more like native Mac and iOS apps.

There are occasional signs of brilliance: on the Mac their QIF file importing is phenomenally good (very important for me as an ex Microsoft Money user), and their Reporting tool is good (but not quite as flexible as Money).

On the app, the data entry is ugly, but quite clever in minimising keystrokes (e.g. selecting payee and category simultaneously). It’s almost as if someone in the company cares about usability, but they might be fighting against others who don’t prioritise it enough. To compete in this space, an app has to look good, conform to the usability guidelines of the platform, support the user with customisations of views, and deliver the core functionality with rock solid reliability.

Sadly, it looks like the developers have given up on this app.

### 1/5 — Absolutely rubbish

*2023-10-07, version 2.35*

I’ve been reporting problems the developers for about 10 years, and they completely ignore customer feedback. For the past 25 minutes I’ve been trying to create a transaction with 13 splits on it and it just goes wrong. Mixed up Payment/ Deposit settings, wrong amounts, description from the last transaction showing as the main description, and therefore overwriting the Payee name. So frustrating so now I’ll have to wait until I arrive home from my trip so I can do it on my laptop. Also I’ve been requesting thousand separators for years, again completely ignored. The desktop version is reasonable, but well overpriced. If you just want a Mobile version of this type of app and not the ability to sync with Desktop, there are far better products out there.

### 1/5 — iCloud Synch has not worked for a long time

*2023-09-05, version 2.34*

The iPadOS and iOS versions have an issue with iCloud sync. They will synch once but not after that, making the app on these platforms quite useless.

I had tried everything possible to get this to work but to no avail and the last response I had from Infinite Kind was an acknowledgement of the problem.

It is a really pity as it once was a useful addition to Moneydance.

### 1/5 — Nag

*2023-06-10, version 2.34*

Too much nagging to give it a review.

### 1/5 — App crashes EVERYTIME after first entry, it just freezes after that.

*2022-11-29, version 2.33*

I’m the past month I can’t enter but ONE transaction at a time then need to kill the app and restart it for the next transaction. If I don’t as soon as I try to enter another transaction the app locks up.

Also, it now always says syncing. I’ve never been able to switch from Dropbox to ICloud sync either. One would think they would just include a toggle for it in ICloud settings like other developers do.

Last, EVERYTIME I do a reconciliation it loves to move a random deposit to a payment category for no particular reason. It’s done this for a few years.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

*2026-07-07, version 2.37*

### 5/5 — Great alternative to the bulky big name apps

*2026-06-19, version 2.37*

Wish I would’ve discovered this finance application years ago. I was using a big name brand one for years and this one is so much better.

### 5/5 — Best available

*2026-06-17, version 2.37*

Have been using this now for around a decade after could no longer tolerate quicken high price and middling quality. Meets all my needs including bank, credit card, and investment accounts. Handles a large data base. Syncing between Linux, windows, and iOS is solid. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — A review

*2026-06-12, version 2.37*

It works!

### 5/5 — Occasionally have to restart

*2026-06-08, version 2.37*

Assets I find I never look at on the App

Also so asking for reviews every day

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-06-02, version 2.37*

Been using since 2020. It’s absolutely fantastic as can use on my iPhone and then syncs to Dropbox. Then when on my laptop it pulls in the data. Have found that trying to use same data source from 2 laptops does not sync well and causes issues. But with iOS and one windows computer is brilliant. Been so impressed have upgraded to latest version.

### 5/5 — Amazing and simple to use app

*2026-06-01, version 2.37*

I have been using for a nearly a decade.
Easy to sync between devices

### 5/5 — Track your Money

*2026-05-28, version 2.37*

If you are not tracking your expenses and investments already consider MoneyDance. Import transactions from all your accounts or enter as you go. Easy to use, helpful in understanding where you are spending your resources, and a must for achieve financial success.

### 5/5 — Needs full functionality

*2026-05-21, version 2.37*

It’s a real shame there is still not full functionality, or at least the ability to edit transaction reminders without having to go to the full PC version

### 5/5 — Best money management application

*2026-05-17, version 2.37*

I have been looking for simple, easy to use money management application after Microsoft sunset the Money application. I am extremely happy with Moneydance. Good part is it is one time purchase. No annual fee. Highly recommend 👍
