## What is Monopatia?

Monopatia is a free guide to all 186 official hiking trails of Cyprus — the native app of monopatia.info.

EVERY TRAIL, FULLY OFFLINE
Maps, detailed descriptions, elevation profiles with grade bands, and GPX downloads for every route — from coastal walks in Akamas to mountain paths in Troodos. No signal in the mountains? Everything still works.

FIND THE RIGHT TRAIL
Filter by district, difficulty, and trail type, or browse themed collections — waterfalls, canyons, monasteries, seaside and more. Traffic-aware drive-time estimates show how far each trailhead really is from you, and picnic sites are mapped too.

RECORD YOUR HIKES
Live track on the map, distance, and accurate barometric elevation gain. Your hike stays on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while your phone is in your pocket. Finished hikes are matched to the trail and count toward your progress and the Cyprus hiker leaderboard.

FIND HIKES YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE
The photo scanner matches your photo library's geotags to trails — entirely on your device — so past hikes can count too. You choose what to upload.

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS
Bookmarks, completions, per-district progress and stats. Hikes save to Apple Health as workouts with their routes. Widgets keep your progress on the Home Screen.

JOIN THE COMMUNITY
Trail reviews with photos, leaderboards, and a live wall of what fellow hikers are completing. Connect Strava to verify completions automatically.

Trail weather, trailhead arrival alerts, Spotlight search, and the full interface in English, Greek and Russian. The trail catalogue is curated by Ivan Agafonov from years of field research across the island.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 0.6.3 — 2026-08-25

• A review that doesn't finish posting — because the app closed or the connection dropped — can now be resumed from where you left off instead of being lost.
• Reviews with multiple photos upload faster.

### 0.6.2 — 2026-08-19

• Posting a review no longer creates duplicates if the connection drops while it's being sent — the app now recognises a review that already went through.
• Tapping "Write a review" on a trail you reviewed earlier the same day opens that review for editing.

### 0.6.1 — 2026-08-14

Maps
• Every map in the app — Explore, districts and trail pages — now draws on outdoor topographic tiles, with contour lines, hillshading and the paths themselves instead of a plain road map.
• The Explore map keeps its bright terrain in dark mode, so contours and hillshading stay readable at night.
• Trail pages start loading their route map as the page opens, so it is already drawn by the time you scroll to it.

Fixes
• Corrected the trail count in the drive-times note.

### 0.5.2 — 2026-08-11

Trail pages
• Tap Distance or Elevation to jump straight to the route map and elevation profile.
• The full-screen route map now shows the elevation profile over it — drag along the profile and the marker moves on the map.
• The 7-day forecast keeps a steady layout instead of shifting between days.

Maps
• Picnic sites use the same markers on region maps as on the Explore map, and the full-screen region map now has a legend.

Community
• Whole rows in the activity feed are tappable, and a review opens that trail's reviews.

Sun & shade
• Fixed the shade curve drawing outside its chart.
• The start-time slider no longer jumps around while you drag it.

This release also adds anonymous usage statistics, so we can see which parts of the app people actually use. No advertising and no tracking across other apps — and you can switch it off in Settings.

### 0.5.0 — 2026-08-10

Sun & shade — know where the shade is before you set off.

Every trail now carries a shade model built from the terrain and the tree canopy, and it works offline at the trailhead:

• Sun & shade on any trail page — how many minutes of sun you'd collect starting now, and a Sun Index out of 10.
• Open it for the shade curve through the day, the least-sun start times, and your route drawn sun-vs-shade on a map.
• Filter trails by shade, or sort Near You by least sun — it plans around when you'd actually arrive.
• Recording a hike warns you before a long exposed stretch.

Also in this release:

• The trail page is rebuilt around a stats grid — reviews, distance, elevation, hiking time, weather and shade at a glance, with weather and shade expanding in place.
• Photos from hikers' reviews now appear in trail galleries, and as thumbnails for trails without a curated photo.
• 186 trails.
