Too bad we have no other English choice in montreal. Terrible app ### 1/5 — Worst newspaper app *2025-04-13* I’ve got half a dozen newspaper subscriptions and apps. They all work: NYT, G & M, JdeM, La Presse, even The Suburban. Only the Gazette app is routinely not updating, forcing me to sign in even though I’m subscribed, and otherwise annoying. If it keeps up I’ll cancel my subscription which I truly want to avoid doing. ### 1/5 — New app is terrible *2025-03-10* App tells me every day to sign in, and once in a while tells me I have no account. The Montreal Gazette: Yesterday’s news tomorrow ### 1/5 — Waisted opportunity *2024-10-09* Our family has been Gazette readers for over 50 years, as our paper subscription ended a few years ago, this app was our last attempt to connect with Gazette writers once again. Shame no effort was given to modernize. I love being able to customize my feed and read from other newspapers from other cities. Yes, ok you need a subscription now but I know I was getting news for free before when I should have been paying. I support news in Canada and I understand that there is a cost to creating it. ### 5/5 — Looking good so far! *2023-08-22, version 6.3.4* I subscribed to the digital version of the cassette recently, because I want to support excellent local journalists. i'm also allowing ads in order to support them. So far the digital interface is clean and simple, showing latest articles matching what I just saw in a browser. I also like the option in settings to allow notifications for breaking news. If the app disappoints in a couple of weeks, I'll have to change this review, but right now I don't see what everyone else is complaining about. I get to empathize with the bad news, rejoice with the good news and learn more about the culture- the good, the bad and the ugly. This app is a killer, with good layout, an easy interface and even the ability to leave and read comments on each story!
