On the other hand if it works it’s good. ### 4/5 — Good *2026-08-26, version 1.23* I use this frequently ### 2/5 — Kind of works and the fees are quite high. *2026-08-22, version 1.23* Sending money to business UPI‘s works, but you can’t send money to any personal UPI‘s. So Ricksas, Uber and many smaller shops in the countryside don’t work. And if you aren’t spending hundreds of dollars the fees to add money are quite high. I payed 5 Euros in fees to add 100 Euros. At that point it’s cheaper and easier to just use Cash. Will not refund unused funds. DO NOT USE. *2026-09-01, version 1.23* I tried Mony a few times but the user fees are too high, not simple to use. I asked for a refund after deactivating a year ago, 6 months ago refund in progress. I asked, there were problems but promised funds in one week. Now no response and taking 399r a month out of deactivated account. DO NOT USE. Cash still works, friends will help if buying for delivery. ### 1/5 — Generally unreliable across India *2026-08-31, version 1.23* Does not let you pay to personal accounts and support turn around time is slow. Fund refund on failed transactions is slow, not great for point of sale downloads. Quite bad for the amount of fee per transactions they charge to top up the wallet. Won’t recommend. Giving money to someone to get nothing in return is usually called thievery. Or extortion. I’m furious. 🤬 ### 1/5 — Funds not received by merchant in India *2026-08-26, version 1.23* I am from the US and was visiting India. I made 2 payments of ₹2619 each to a merchant in Delhi. The payments show as successful in Mony but the merchant hasn’t received iT. I have been trying but the amount is not yet refunded, it is over 3 weeks now. Have sent all the details to Mony but no reply. I am still waiting for the auto‑refund. ### 1/5 — Non existent customer care support. *2026-08-25, version 1.23* Mony is only good for paying flagship businesses such as Zomato, Amazon, etc. 80% of the time you won’t be able to pay your auto drivers, and local shops as they all use personal UPIs. Worst, whenever I get a declined payment from Amazon, the customer care is non-existent and never respond. They only have a chatbot. I don’t even know why I use this app. ### 1/5 — Terrible service *2026-08-24, version 1.23* I tried to activate my account so I could use the upi payment system. I registered all the necessary information and took them 4 days to call me. Even after calling me the still did not activate my account after a week of waiting. Tried contacting customer support but never got a reply. I would recommend another upi option ### 1/5 — Expensive and Many fees *2026-08-24, version 1.23* Even if you never used the app they will try and charge you a “maintenance” fee after you have left India and once you have forgotten you even downloaded the app. Way more expensive than using directly cash or card so I deleted and forgot about it until they try to start charging me fees for something I never even used. ### 1/5 — Pathetic and Scammy *2026-08-22, version 1.23* Ridiculous policy to charge customers 400 rupees for not making enough transactions. Want to close your account? Well that’s really hard on their servers so they’ll take another ‘closure fee’ before you go. Glad I barely put any money into this garbage app lol ### 1/5 — 1/5 — Horrible experience and virtually no support *2026-08-22, version 1.23* I’ve had a horrible experience with the Mony app. The app randomly stops working, which is extremely frustrating when you’re relying on it to make payments or access your money. The biggest problem is the lack of proper customer support. At the time of writing this review, I cannot find a phone number to speak to an actual person. The chat support appears to be an AI bot, and when you have a genuine problem, it feels like you’re going around in circles rather than getting it resolved. For a financial/payment app, reliability and access to real customer support should be basic requirements. If something goes wrong involving your money, you need a clear and quick way to speak to a human. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Mony at the moment. Until they improve the reliability of the app and provide proper human customer support, I would be very cautious about depending on it. ### 1/5 — Very Poor KYC Process *2026-08-19, version 1.23* I had high hopes for the convenience of using UPI for my 10 day trip to India. I submitted the necessary documents before arriving, and the app registered my arrival in India about 2 days after I landed, despite me inputting my arrival date ahead of time. From that point on, it became clear the onboarding process was not as seamless as advertised. I was only assigned an agent to do my KYC 4 days after arriving, and that was only because I notified the customer service team of the delay. Still, even after this and chasing on multiple occasions, I have now returned home after my trip and no one ever reached out to me to verify my account. After so many years of searching I’m glad to find the Mony app, it’s super easy to get verified and so far the app works for all kind of payments for me. It made making payments to Indian merchants much more convenient. A couple of things to be aware of: 1. You need to be physically present in India to make payments to Indian merchants. 2. You can only make payments to business UPI accounts, not to individual/personal UPI accounts. 3. While I was in India, I had some difficulty topping up my Mony account balance. This may have been due to security restrictions from my bank. Overall, I found Mony UPI to be a very useful service while traveling in India. ### 5/5 — Works well! *2026-08-07, version 1.23* It works really well!
