## What is mood journal & tracker?

toody is a quiet mood journal built for the way you live. No gamification. No nudges. You check in when you want, in a tap or two, and over time patterns you could not spot on your own start to become clear.

Check in, in a tap or two
Your mood colors sit right above the tab bar. Tap one, pick how it lands, and you are done. Add an activity or a short note if you want — or log a "just okay" day in a single tap. toody stays out of your way on quiet days, and is there when you need a clear snapshot of your mood.

See patterns, gently
The more you check in, the more toody can show you. You can watch how your mood threads through the week, which activities tend to lift you, where the dips usually happen, and how your entries change over time. It does not shout. It simply says, I noticed something this week.

HealthKit on your terms
toody can read your sleep duration and menstrual cycle to show how each relates to your mood. This is read-only and stays on device. Nothing is sent to a server. You are asked for permission the first time you open the Sleep or Cycle card. You can decline, and toody keeps working with journaling exactly the same.

Pro includes deeper read-backs
toody is free to journal in, forever, with no time cap on your history. Upgrade to Pro for:
Insights: weekly digest, mood distribution, weekday patterns, activity ranking, correlations, sleep to mood, cycle to mood, and mood over time
Custom activities: name the activities in your life the way you actually name them
Insights widget: a glanceable mood summary for your home screen
PDF insights report: a multi-page summary you can export and keep, with counts and patterns only. No entry text, ever

Free trial included. Choose monthly or yearly. Cancel anytime from iOS Settings.

Your data, your devices
toody runs locally. There is no toody account on a toody server. With iCloud sync on, entries sync privately through your iCloud with end-to-end encryption by Apple in transit and at rest. With iCloud sync off, nothing leaves your device. Export everything to JSON anytime, and delete everything in one tap.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5.0 — 2026-09-04

What's new:

Visual updates across the app: things line up better, names read consistently, and your mood shows as a word instead of a number.

Some users saw a crash when deleting or undoing a check-in. That is fixed, along with a number of smaller issues.

Recently in 1.4:

Reminders that learn: No more picking a time. toody now learns when you usually check in and picks the reminder moment itself, shortly before you'd normally write. If you stop checking in, reminders thin out instead of piling up, and after four weeks toody says one last goodbye instead of nagging forever. The learning stays on your device and only ever sees when you checked in, never what you wrote.

One journal across your devices: If you use toody on more than one device, the same check-in could occasionally show up twice. toody now finds those duplicates and folds them back into one.

Steadier typing: Fixed a bug in the journaling editor where letters could land out of order the moment a word wrapped onto a new line.

As always: no accounts, no ads in the app. Just a private place to notice how you actually feel.

Recently in 1.3:

App lock: Your journal can now sit behind Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Turn it on in Settings and toody asks for it on launch and after a minute away. Everything runs through Apple's own prompt: toody never sees or stores anything biometric. Free for everyone.

Feedback & ideas: A new row in Settings drafts a feedback mail, and "Rate toody" takes you straight to the App Store. The mail carries only the app version and iOS version, nothing else.

A clearer start for Pro: If you're trying toody Pro, the Insights tab now offers a short three-step guide to what your trial unlocks: a custom activity, mood over time, and the widget.

As always: no accounts, no ads in the app. Just a private place to notice how you actually feel.

### 1.2.2 — 2026-07-30

What's new:

Month pages, in the full editor: Writing about your month now opens the same full-screen editor your daily pages use — voice dictation included, and if you want, toody can ask you a question about the month you're looking back on. On-device, as always.

Better timing: The month-end prompt now waits until a month has actually been lived in. A freshly installed toody won't greet you with "how was your month?" anymore.

A pointer to insights: Once your week starts taking shape, toody offers a look at the insights tab — once, dismissible, no nagging.

Recently in 1.2:

Voice journaling: Some days it's easier to talk than to type. Speak, and toody turns it into a written reflection, right in the editor — entirely on-device.

Sleep & cycle, meet mood: toody can read your sleep and menstrual-cycle data from Apple Health and show how your mood moves alongside it. Opt-in, per data type, and read-only.

Warm night: A proper dark mode for the evening.

A deeper look at your days: See which activities lift your mood and which weigh on it, in a reworked Insights tab.

As always: no accounts, no ads in the app. Just a private place to notice how you actually feel.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-07-23

What's new:

1.2.1 is a small under-the-hood update: Apple's privacy-preserving ad attribution now shows which App Store searches bring people to toody. No tracking, no prompts - and nothing to do with your journal.

Recently in 1.2:

Voice journaling: Some days it's easier to talk than to type. Now you can — speak, and toody turns it into a written reflection, right in the editor. It runs entirely on-device, so nothing you say leaves your phone.

Sleep & cycle, meet mood: toody can read your sleep and menstrual-cycle data from Apple Health and show how your mood moves alongside it — no charts to decode, just plain-language takeaways. Opt-in, per data type, and read-only.

Warm night: A proper dark mode for the evening. Your mood colors are warmed for low light instead of washed out.

A deeper look at your days: See which activities lift your mood and which weigh on it, in a reworked Insights tab that reads more like a story than a dashboard.

Accessibility: Better support for Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, and Reduce Motion.

As always: no accounts, no ads in the app. Just a private place to notice how you actually feel.
