### 5/5 — Mood Synth

*2020-06-02*

Sweet and warm !

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2020-04-26*

Sonically deep yet very straightforward to program. Having an LFO available for every single parameter will spoil you! Well, it has spoiled me.:)

### 5/5 — Awesome sounds!

*2019-04-01*

Love this app - one of my go-to synths on iOS!

### 5/5 — Fantastic Synth, unfortunate AUv3 UI

*2019-03-19*

This is such a lovely synth, and is a joy to use in it’s standalone version. It is AUv3 compatible, but the interface switches into tabbed folder with lots of wasted space. It’s unfortunate as it makes the instrument unpleasant ANS difficult to use in an AUv3 environment.

**Developer response:** Thank you for rating 'mood'.
The AUv3 User Interface is almost identical to the iPhone one. Since the AUv3 GUI is very very small on the iPhobe, this choise is to make usable the AUv3 in both iPhone/iPad.
However if you are abit to using 'mood' for iPhone, you will feel well with the AUv3 ver. In some cases, the navigation it's even better than the iPad one.

### 5/5 — Mood works great with the wind controller.

*2019-03-12*

No zipper noise, smooth filters, musical sounding FM.
Low CPU, fantastic synth.

### 5/5 — Aiuto....

*2019-03-10, version 1.4*

Come si carica il nuovo preset bank? Dov’è la funzione restore? Non la trovo....

### 5/5 — Great sounds..Lots of fun to play

*2019-03-07*

Classic synth with lots of modern digital synth features added in. Great sounds and lots of presets. Lots of fun to play. In its own class above the ranks of many other iOS synth apps. I have been using it since it’s release and always find it fun and fresh. I use it both standalone and as an AUv3 plug-in on tracks in the Audio Evolution DAW app on my iPhone XS Max. The app continues to have regular developer updates, including a major update just today.

### 5/5 — 1 synth for Playing Live

*2019-03-06*

It doesn’t get any better than this app for live music, smooth controls and quality sounds make this a must have for any live keyboardist or studio. Very versatile for aspiring musicians.

### 5/5 — what a rush

*2019-03-06*

simply a great sounding source.
you’ll think “ damn it another moog emulation “ but no this app got some special juice ( fm , great delay and more )
and every parameter is midi cc mappable 💓

### 5/5 — Mood synth

*2019-03-05*

Awesome!!!

### 4/5 — Pepitxav

*2019-03-05, version 1.4*

Bueno Gracias por actualizar.

### 5/5 — Less a Moog emulator, more a great synth on its own

*2018-11-30*

Yes, the basic layout is a Minimoog. It has its own sound character, however, that is unique among the iOS synths. The additional FM section allows for some really nice bell-like overtones, and the sampler oscillator can really turn things loose. Modulate everything, and a really cool 'step sequencer'/modulator. The filter can get a little smeary especially when using polyphony, and that's my only complaint.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Just a toy

*2018-05-23*

Very low quality sound especially sample playback which uses time stretching that bit crushes the sound to low quality and cannot be disabled

**Developer response:** The sample playback is not a normal player but its a sample warp and pitch shifting.
The low quality of the sound could depends form app settings, in particular the sampling rate and the buffer frame. For hi quality its advised sr = 44100 and frame = 128

### 2/5 — Sounds great BUT

*2024-01-06*

I’m really disappointed with the AUV3. I really don’t want any keyboard on the screen, I’m using a midi controller keyboard. I want just knobs etc

### 2/5 — Love Mood but why is it messed up in AUv3

*2019-05-02*

I don't understand why the interface was screwed in AU mode? Because of this I now use it... Never!
I'd give it 5/5 if that AU interface was fixed.

**Developer response:** This choise is to make usable the AUv3 in both iPhone/iPad. The AUv3 User Interface is almost identical to the iPhone one. However if get to use 'mood' for iPhone, you will feel well with the AUv3 ver. In some cases, the navigation it's even better than the iPad one.

### 3/5 — Mood intercepts GB audio output file

*2026-03-08*

No idea if this app is any good, only here because since iPadOS 26, when I manage to output (share) a stereo WAV file from my GarageBand endeavours, and try to access it using Apple’s ‘Files’ app, I am thrown into this app. I have emailed the developer, cannot find a reply, some weeks later in March 2026. My output WAV file, sits in the GarageBand ‘transfer files’ folder. Is there a reason why Mood takes all output residing here, as it’s own? How do I stop Mood popping up when I am in ‘Files’ and trying to play a WAV file? Is there a workaround? Thank you for any assistance, no other apps seem to do this.

### 3/5 — Good sound, cool features, but some UI drawbacks.

*2023-06-13*

Good sounding synth with some weird UI design decisions.
No Undo/Redo, no Favorites in presets, unnecessary pop-up menu when you load preset.
Weird layout in AU version where 80% is keyboard but when you go to ARP editing mode there is no keyboard at all.
99% of presets are quite bad and I can get why, not fun workflow obviously.

### 3/5 — 🚨🆘Mise à jour 2023 nécessaire s’il vous plaît 🆘🚨

*2023-05-18*

Merci 🙏

### 3/5 — AUV3 interface ruins it

*2023-04-19*

I will say that it sounds great, but there are lots of apps that sound great. I can’t get over not being able to hide the keyboard in AUV3 mode. I don’t use an on screen keyboard. Ever. I don’t mind the tabs for different parameters, but I can’t get over the keyboard always cluttering up the screen.

It works great with my EWI and I wanted to love it, but I keep bouncing off of it.

### 3/5 — Essentially perfect iOS synth

*2017-11-12*

Need to update my review... been using a lot more recently and have been getting a lot of crashes, note hangs, etc in AUM. When a note hangs using all notes off in AUM works about 20% of the time, and usually causes all instances of Mood to become non-operational... Hope this gets some update love soon...

This is basically the last iOS synth I'll ever need. AU interface needs a major overhaul (too many pages, too much flipping back and forth, no way to get a birds eye overview), but other than that, it's amazing.

### 4/5 — Reminds me of my Moog Prodigy

*2022-05-23*

A very nice synth, possibly lacking a few more lfos & envelopes but maybe the better for that.
Sadly it deserves a second review of 1 star for the terrible Au implementation where apparently it's a fantastic idea to use all the screen space for a keyboard (which cannot be hidden) limiting access to the parameters one actually needs to see. Really?!

### 4/5 — Cool but missing samples?

*2019-11-25*

I’ve got most of the Apesoft stuff including the incredible iVCS3. Yet another great sounding synth with all the Apesoft extra LFOs etc you’ve come to expect.
Only one quibble: a lot of the presets require an audio file and complain it’s missing when you select the preset?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best sounding minimoog,but Filter FM flawed

*2026-07-23*

Update: the developer just doesn’t care about supporting this product. He ignored my bug report.
Best sounding minimoog on iOS , low cpu usage. Punchy & warm sound. The only issue Filter FM does not work properly at audio rates (at range 4’, 2’).

### 5/5 — Excellent symphonic sound quality

*2026-07-05*

Like all apeSoft apps, this synthesizer is beautifully functional and sound qualities and every nuance possible there-in crafted to Perfection...Love this developer's sound crafting toolkits.

### 5/5 — Best sounding minimoog on iOS

*2025-12-29, version 1.9.2*

Best sounding minimoog on iOS, better than Moog’s own app. A more pleasing warm tone to the ear and overall better for bass as it has a 0 delay filter.
Only negative for me is that midi cc learn/control is unavailable in the auv3. The interface of the auv3 isn’t the best, but it is ok to work with.

### 5/5 — My main synth

*2024-07-15*

Despite having almost all the synth apps available on the AppStore, I just can’t help but keep coming back to this one anytime I’m starting an AUM project. Best sounds to my ear - easy and light.

### 5/5 — 3 years later and still in love

*2022-06-19*

Apesoft makes very important sound/music making apps, unlike any others. We need Apesoft to give us apps that help get away from the everyday synth monotony.
Great app. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Gorgeous

*2022-04-17*

One of my favourite instruments and developers in the app store. I can’t say enough good things about this.

### 5/5 — Fantastic synth!

*2021-04-23*

Definitely part of my top 10 synths. Very versatile and I love the actual sounds it can produce. Some synths can make good sounds, but everything in between those sounds feels useless. I mean that's probably subjective, because others may find great use out of it through some processing. But I like melodic sounds that I can play with my keyboard and Mood gives me that. Basically it's a synth I go to if I want to make sounds to use in my tracks, as opposed to just experimenting endlessly to maybe get a couple of useful sounds. For sure it's a must have.

Some other nice things about it are I like how you can select keyboard range, easily expanding it or moving left/right (similar to Cubasis), haven't seen this in many synths. Preset saving is good, lets you create folders, which is a must for me. Otherwise if you have to put all your sounds into a single "User" folder, that's just not practical. Oh and LFO's... others probably already wrote about this, but yeah, you can modulate EVERYTHING with individual LFO's per knob. And LFO's implementation is the best ever. The way you can select the range, to just modulate the knob between specific positions. And once you're done, you can even move the knob to a different position and it'll keep the range but will modulate around that position now. This and ApeMatrix are my favs from this dev.

### 5/5 — 3 years in and still spinning my chakras at 436hz

*2020-09-27*

This is always my instinctive first choice when I want a deep analogue sound, often in preference to the hardware units I own, and it’s a must have for analogue fiends everywhere.

My one gripe is that since v1.6, the keys have become way too intrusive. I get that not everyone uses a midi keyboard, and the ribbon control is a wonderful addition, but as the keys now take up 75% of the real estate, the controls feel cramped and a bit lost as a result. I get that limitations may make it impossible to replicate the iaa / standalone version with its smaller keyboard and all controls over two ‘pages’, but an option to show / hide the keyboard either fully or partially on the AUv3 version would be massively appreciated in future updates.

Having said that there is no way I could ever let this small aesthetic niggle force me to give this excellent synth anything less than a fully deserved five stars because it sounds phenomenomenal and I loves it bigly :)

### 5/5 — Great Synth

*2020-09-02, version 1.6.8*

Please add MPE Support — so you‘ll deserve 10 Stars! ;-)

### 5/5 — The most underrated iOS synth

*2020-07-08*

Flawless victory.
