### 5/5 — Really awesome sounds

*2021-02-27*

I like making meditation music and this is perfect.

### 5/5 — Atmospheric Ecstasy

*2021-02-23*

This is now my go-to synth for ambient atmospheric textures and soundscapes. Stunning sounds, light on the CPU, and so easy to zone in on the perfect drones and tones. The MELLOPIANO presets are amazing, and just what I’ve been searching for.

### 5/5 — It’s great. It’s simple. It’s diverse.

*2021-02-05*

I usually write reviews about products i appreciate and find to be awesome bemut somehow slightly lacking. Moodunits however is pretty spot on. My only gripes are that it wasn’t clear presale exactly what it was ( that being super easy to edit auv3 synth packs and some added solid auv3 fx compressor, delay, reverb, etc) and other than that the graphics? could use a bit of polish because the sound is super future but the logo is a bit kinkos?🥰

### 5/5 — YEEESSS .. 😀

*2021-01-23*

5 stars for responding so fast ..
folks - this app is just great + the developer is 👍👍👍

**Developer response:** Hi there, in the latest 1.5.5 release, the fine tune range has been extended to +/- 50 cents! 😊

### 5/5 — Excellent, inexpensive, and inspiring.

*2021-01-19*

MU Waverley is excellent. It sounds really good 'straight out of the box', but when the iap's come into play, Waverley becomes a beast (I've only downloaded the free iap's so far, but will grab the paid ones very soon).

I had a couple of small issues, but Rob was so prompt and helpful, that I was sorted within 20 minutes (and it's likely that the issues were due to something I did wrong).

5 stars.
Highly recommended.

**Developer response:** Hi Pete - many thanks for the great review, much appreciated! Also, in the latest 1.5.5 release, Waverley should now re-size when you hide / show the list / browse pane in Cubasis.

### 5/5 — Great app and customer support!

*2021-01-19*

This app, as many here have already said, it’s amazing and a must for anyone into textural ambient stuff, also, the customer support from Rob himself is super quick as I had an issue with the app store in app purchases and it was quickly solved by Rob in less than 10 minutes from the time I initially contacted him!

### 5/5 — It’s not all about the sounds!

*2021-01-07*

There’s a reason this app is scoring great reviews, players love the sounds... but I’m scoring this on the incredible help and support from the developer. I had a download issue and this was resolved in the blink of an eye. Because of this, I am happy to continue purchasing these fabulous apps. So if you love luscious ambient pads that MU offers with the knowledge that the developer is looking after you, then go ahead and join in the fun. Jason.

### 5/5 — Wow. Simple, Powerful, Sounds Amazing

*2020-12-27*

Updated - So basically you get 9 AUv3 apps (as of now, new are added often) packed inside this app. Waverly AU is the single instrument, but it sounds so rich, and has several great yet inexpensive IAP. That’s because all sounds are carefully sampled from the real analog sources. The initial 50+ Presets, (more with IAP) are some common waveforms, ie. Saw, etc. and some more complex sounds as well. It sounds so full and rich, it’s great. Then there are 8 AU effects as of now, reverb, delay, filter, EQ, distortion, limiter, etc... The effects are great for shaping the AU Waverly unit into something more. It is polyphonic except for the Bass presets. I was on the fence, do I really need this, type thing, but the interface is super clean, easy to use, and understand. It sounds amazing, and you get a lot for your buck. The sounds are great for making some classic synth sounds, pads, leads, bass, etc. Some are heavily processed for some amazing atmospheres. Then some Amazing IAP Guitar, piano, strings, etc... You could build a multitimbral synth in AUM using a couple Waverly instances. Just saying. I heard the sound of the app on The Sound Test Room video, and decided for $5 (initial price) I’ll try it. I’m so glad I did. I’m definitely using these sounds in my actual songs not just for sketching ideas, or place holding. Real Quality here. All 9 included AUv3’s are great. App is also low on CPU/DSP. Amazing app with great sounds. Get it.

### 5/5 — Just do it...

*2020-12-04*

No need to think about it, just buy MoodUnits. This and TouchScaper are two of my absolute favourite music apps. So easy to make something that’s listenable, even for an absolute noob.

### 5/5 — AU CPU usage focused and wonderful.

*2020-12-04*

Conceptually focusing on being an AU with low CPU impact makes this a unique approach that works great. TY to the dev.

### 5/5 — MU Store Error!

*2020-11-05*

The current update fixed my IAP/Download issue! Great job Rob!
----
I downloaded/updated MU with the latest update. At first no change. Same thing, so I deleted and re-installed MU. Everything downloaded ok except for the same three instruments; Factory, Stringz and MoBass. For those three I still get the 'MU Store Error: Download could not be started. If this problem persists please re-launch the app or restart your device.'

----
Unable to download any purchased instrument. Only see MU Store Error. Tried rebooting device. Tried re-installing MU. Same thing. Restore purchases seem to work just not any of the instruments. Obviously, my internet is fine. Please fix it!

**Developer response:** Update: Just to let you know that I think I've managed to track this down and I'm hoping this particular issue will be fixed in 1.4.6 (awaiting review). If that's not the case for you, please get in touch via the message form at moodunits.biz if you haven't already. Thanks, -Rob

### 5/5 — Great sounds and parameters

*2020-11-03*

Such a great instrument to load up and start jamming on! The sounds are very useable and fit into all my mixes very well. Love the in app purchases as well.

### 5/5 — Ultra useful sounds

*2020-10-16*

This is a great idea, well thought out and decently executed. A rapidly expanding range of good quality samples so even my lil old iPad mini 4 can be used for sound making on the go. I’m using them in AUM with Touchscaper and MidiSTEPs to great effect. Highly recommended.

Can we have some tasty Juno pads and basses next please Rob?

### 5/5 — Rob does it again

*2020-10-16, version 1.4.1*

An app full of amazing sounds and effects. I use them now, in some combination, in most tracks I make.

### 5/5 — Stunning!

*2020-10-02*

Since this new update with the IAPs I am just in heaven lost for hours in these fantastic patches!

To the Dev, please add more of these sound banks I would gladly pay double for these!

### 5/5 — Great sounds

*2020-09-20*

Works great with Audiobus - layer multiple instances and tweak to get great sounding pads for minimalist techno type work. Many other possibilities. Brilliant.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Crashes on exporting audio always

*2020-10-06*

Edit 10/6: corrected 234 or so grammar errors 🤦🏻‍♂️

To the developer’s / Rob’s response:

Thank you for the fast reply. I normally wouldn’t write a review as a form of tech-support. It is usually unfair or counterproductive. However in this case it was deliberate.

The reason being, while it is unusual random bad luck in this case that a single issue could potentially prevent people from using the plugins at all after purchase, I would stilll want to be aware of that before buying.

On the other hand, that choice makes it incumbent on me to respect the work and immediately update the review as soon as anything changes.

For anyone reading this in fairness I should point out:

- it’s simply impossible to write software without bugs. For Google or for one developer. One issue rarely stops use of an app, but it still doesn’t correlate to the quality of an app overall.

- Remember, most developers do this out of love, 99% are not getting rich. Most couldn’t pay their bills with the App Store even with some success.

- From what I’ve seen in responses, Rob is a conscientious and well intentioned developer. If you want to judge quality, I think that’s one of the best stand alone measurements you can use in the long run.

The plug-in seems to work fine using it as an instrument, but when you export audio it crashes the whole app hard.I’ve tried garage band and Cubasis 3.x, can’t get audio out of either of them. It’s kind of annoying since I took a chance to support the app and paid for it without many reviews.

Edit 10/6: removed speculation that the cause was related to required iOS 14 changes after clarification from the developer.

**Developer response:** Hi, I'm pretty sure this issue has been fixed for a while now. Would be great if you could re-consider your star rating. Thanks, -Rob

### 1/5 — Not impressed

*2020-09-11*

Very basic. From the reviews I expected something amazing. I was very much let down.

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear this and I hope you're able to process a refund through the App Store. If you can spare the time, please let me know if there's anything in the App Store description and screen shots that you feel is misleading, and maybe what it was you were expecting that resulted in you feeling let down. moodunits are "basic" by design, so obviously, not for everyone. It's very important to me that people know what they're buying, and more specifically what moodunits can / can't do, and what the general design goals are. On the one hand, it's great that there are quite a few positive reviews, but I don't want expectations to get out of hand. Sorry about this.

### 3/5 — Not what I expected

*2023-09-20*

I was expecting something along the lines of moodscaper or touchscaper with AUV3 compatibility. This is just a shadow of what it could be.

### 4/5 — Good

*2025-01-26*

Initially the expansion packs were not showing but now they are. Beautiful sounds.

### 4/5 — Automation for the iOS generation

*2021-06-12*

Amazing audio units but we need automation brother!

### 5/5 — Please update

*2025-07-08*

Please new packs presets , synth
Thanks by your big works

### 5/5 — Mega AuV3 Plugin. Für Ambient einfach perfekt.

*2025-04-15*

Einige Sounds Moods sind kostenlos, die anderen kosten je 99Cent.
Schade dass es kein reduziertes Bundle mit allen Moods gibt :(

### 5/5 — Lil Woodryc

*2024-12-30*

Rob I think Mood Units could use

more effects as options perhaps

something like a Caoineag

Chorus or something like that

to keep the plugin fresh

### 5/5 — Lil Woodryc

*2024-11-23*

Rob I think Mood Units could use

more effects perhaps a glasgow

based chorus

### 5/5 — It’s a good plugin but

*2024-10-14*

Rob I think Mood Units could use

more effects perhaps a glasgow

based chorus

## Most praised reviews (5 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Splendid!

*2024-03-14*

Can’t ask for more for your money or for better sounds. Very nice. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — We need more ❤️

*2022-08-02*

Please add more stuff, I just love to use the instruments and FX! Nicest would be own instrument sampler, MORE FX and MORE Units!!! 😍

### 5/5 — I want to like synths but can’t. This is the answer.

*2021-05-04*

I’ve never written anything with the synths I have. I just go through presets and tweak them. With Moodunits I had something recorded in an hour. I’m looking forward to buying the IAP’s and then trying them in Touchscaper.
Great value for money, inspiring and immediately enjoyable.

### 5/5 — So good

*2021-03-09*

Awesome instruments, good job 👍🏻

### 5/5 — Best of the Best

*2021-03-03*

This a random thank you because I never dreamed we’d have a synth that’s just as CPU friendly as it is sound quality. And I’ve literally bought tried all the other synths over the last 8 years, so this app is truly the standard. Idk how you made this app happen engineer wise but other app developers need to follow your lead for the most part.
