### 2/5 — Let me remove a problem from a list!

*2023-03-22*

That’s all, I haven’t had any other problems with this app other than that, but without this feature the lists are kinda useless.

### 3/5 — CHANGE TO KILTER APP

*2023-01-13, version 9.3.6*

I’ve used almost every board over the years (except the new decoy board- looks sweet) and all the apps have been pretty similar with the UI and user friendly EXECPT the moon board. I know that the same developers made several of these apps but the moon app seems to be lacking in features, functionality, and user experience. I just wanna say that I love the moon board and just want to see the app change for the better. If it is possible to do something similar to the kilter app that would be ideal. (Ex. Zooming in on holds, publishing climbs above logged grade, better/easier search filters, adding designated feet only, being able to make the finish other holds than just the top row, and more stuff to make the app better) EDIT: changed from 2 to 3 stars. I was too harsh…

### 3/5 — Please improve the timer function

*2023-01-12, version 9.3.6*

The timer function seems like it would be awesome but there are a few serious limitations.

1) when the timer is active the screen auto-lock isn’t disabled. So during a set you have to run over and constantly tap the screen to not have it blank out

2) the timer doesn’t support music playing from another app. What a buzz kill to get ready for some 4x4’s and then have your music cut out as soon as you start climbing.

Please fix!!!!

### 2/5 — Why is the board good but the app so bad?

*2022-10-12, version 9.3.6*

I wanted to get back into the moonboard after a long time away and using the tension board. This app is painful to use for so many reasons and worst of all is my iphone7 is not bluetooth compatible with the moonboard led system. Second biggest complaint it how long it takes to mark a climb completed. I couldnt care less about my global ranking i just dont wanna redo climbs i have alredy done. Put a little effort into the app because the board it really good

### 2/5 — Horrible app; Good climbing

*2022-05-04, version 9.3.6*

The app itself is very hard to use especially for the first time and the graphics are not the best to say the least. Overall the app is the only reason I took off stars.
The moon board itself is very thought out and an amazing tool for training. I can spend hours and not get board. Pun intended.

### 3/5 — Ranking not updating

*2022-01-26, version 9.3.6*

My global/country ranking isn’t updating when I log new benchmarks. Ticked about 15 climbs today so it seems unlikely I wouldn’t have moved.

I do appreciate Moon updating the app, I have noticed the UI improve a bit, and the 5 star ranking system makes more sense to me.

Would love to see some performance optimizations also. Overall I love the moonboard but the app definitely needs polish.

### 2/5 — Lost most of my ascents

*2021-02-12, version 9.3.2*

Really buggy app. For weeks now none of my ascents have been counting towards my ranking- logged out and reinstalled the app today hoping it would fix. Upon logging back in I lost over 100 of my benchmark ascents. Really annoying

### 1/5 — One of the worst apps I’ve ever used

*2021-02-01, version 9.3.2*

This is one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. Maybe the worst. I have had non stop glitches since I downloaded the app, with problems going missing, not being able to sign in, and most recently all of the problems have just straight up disappeared and I can’t get anything to load at all. This is after deleting and reinstalling the app several times to try to solve issues. My partner hasn’t been able to use his app for a year now, due to the same problem. I hope Moonboard invests in some better developers, because everyone I know who Moon boards experiences the same problems.

### 1/5 — So much potential

*2021-01-20, version 9.3.0*

If only they spent a bit of time to make this a more user friendly app, it would do wonders.

The user feature is completely useless, it’s so hard to connect with friends, so much community could be built, instead, it all happens on Instagram instead, wasted opportunity.

So much more could be done, too much to list, I hope Ben decides to make the app a priority this year.

### 1/5 — Horrible UX

*2021-01-02, version 9.3.0*

Would give 0 stars if I could

### 1/5 — Conflicting logbook between Web & iOS

*2020-12-18, version 9.2.8*

I use the exact same credentials to log into the web version and the iOS version, and I see different logbook entries, it’s almost like two different accounts altogether. What’s up with the inconsistency???

### 4/5 — Intuitive and Helpful Tech Support

*2020-12-11, version 9.2.7*

I had a problem with one of my accounts and the moon board tech support promptly help me solve it with rapid responses. The app itself is improving as time goes by and is more intuitive than ever.

### 1/5 — Please make a better app

*2020-11-11, version 9.2.4*

I’m pretty sure a first year CS student can make a more straight forward app than this dumpster fire. I don’t get why it has to be so complicated to use. Not user friendly in the slightest bit. I wish there were the option to give it 0 stars. You’d think with all the money they make from the boards they’d hire a half competent developer to create a clean app

### 1/5 — Cannot load problems

*2020-10-29, version 9.2.3*

This is useless because the app cannot refresh its list of climbing problems. I need to search moonboard problems on the website instead and screenshot them.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Worst app for board climbing

*2023-04-03*

I love your boards but why does your app keep resetting passwords and locking me out? Even after I reset the password it still won’t let me in. This has happened quite a few times.
Why can’t you have a version that simply lets you climb? I spent 20 mins of my 1 hour session trying to login to train in your board.
Please make a change.

### 1/5 — Terrible UI/UX

*2022-11-16, version 9.3.6*

I didn’t know an app could be this non-intuitive to use but here we are.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-09-27, version 9.3.6*

Won’t load. Useless app

### 1/5 — Can’t log in

*2022-08-27, version 9.3.6*

Can’t even login even I just reset my password.

### 1/5 — Fixes are obvious

*2022-08-20, version 9.3.6*

Enough people use the app, why not make it work well? The fixes that are desperately needed aren’t overly complex: just make your basic functions work, the setup less complicated, and the overall usability more intuitive. Currently, the app is hurting the brand’s good name.

### 1/5 — Hire a developer

*2021-12-05, version 9.3.2*

Great concept. Great apparatus. Awful application.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with IPhone XR

*2021-11-02, version 9.3.2*

Why would someone create an app that is not compatible with all newer versions of iPhone? I get an error saying that the Bluetooth version on my phone is not compatible with the app.

### 1/5 — Can’t login

*2021-08-16, version 9.3.2*

This app literally doesn’t even work well enough to create a new account or sign in.

### 1/5 — horrible ux cant even sign in

*2021-07-04, version 9.3.2*

cant log in even after forgot password etc...

### 1/5 — What a waste.

*2021-06-18, version 9.3.2*

Can’t even auth in anymore. How is such an awesome climbing tool locked behind such an awful app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Better than Kilter or Tension

*2023-07-18*

I think the app is severely underrated and has a much better and simpler interface than either the Kilter board or Tension board apps. The board setup is easy and obvious to choose, there are HUNDREDS of benchmark problems, the log book/stats page is impeccable, filtering problems is easy, you can even find problems by a hold, etc. My favorite is the ability to bookmark problems by a simple swipe up, as well as very easily creating lists. On top of that, it’s easy to find your own problems, your sends, projects, etc. All the benchmark problems also have the previous sends logged and plenty of different beta videos. The problems themselves—I have a slight bias—also feel more fun and realistic than tension or kilter the majority of the time. Lastly, not to be forgotten, the app is WAY more aesthetically pleasing and doesn’t get boring to stare at hour after hour.

### 5/5 — Moonboard app

*2023-06-12*

This app has been really good so far and I like that I can easily make my own problems. Not sure why there is so many bad reviews.

### 5/5 — It works

*2023-04-16*

I think this app is perfect it does the thing you want it to do and you can make problems and do other peoples problems just signing up is a little hard to do.

### 5/5 — App has some bugs but is otherwise good

*2022-04-11, version 9.3.6*

Although it is kind of annoying these
Bugs don’t ruin the climbing experience.

### 5/5 — Best Training!

*2021-10-20, version 9.3.2*

Love the MoonBoard and the new Mini MoonBoard is way fun! App works great since the update. Only climbing app out there that has Benchmarks (climbs approved for the grade by Ben Moon) and international rankings!!

### 5/5 — Good app for a great board

*2021-10-09, version 9.3.2*

Love the board love the app

### 5/5 — Great app

*2020-01-01, version 9.0.3*

Get this app

### 5/5 — App won’t allow me to add new problems.

*2019-09-20, version 8.8.2*

Just tried to add a new problem and the drop down menu for the grade does not exist. Of course it doesn’t allow you to add a problem without the grade.

Second issue with the new update is the Ranking page no longer has the 2016 rankings even when I have the 2016 setup selected for my board.

Fingers crossed all the bugs are getting worked on.

5 star review because I love the board. App needs the kinks worked out.

### 5/5 — Excellent App that is easy to use

*2019-09-18, version 8.8.2*

I love the Moonboar! This app, combined with the LEDs, make climbing on it so much easier. The app allows me to track what climbs I've completed and those that I am still working on. This app reinforces the international
Moonboard community by allowing connections in the app that give you the ability to see what your friends are doing across the world and even work on common lists of problems. I like the new timer feature and the ability to upload videos to Instagram easily.

The tracking and filter options allow me to see my progress across time and focus on problems that will push me to that next level.

### 5/5 — Moon board leverages technology to bring climbing community closer

*2019-09-13, version 7.4*

First off I own a moon board and absolutely love it. It helps support our local climbing community and keeps us strong. The app is what makes this so amazing. You can share climbs with climbers from around the world. There have been many updates to the app as Moon climbing is always trying to improve the user experience!
