## What is Moon Phase & Stargazing Nights?

What does the moon look like tonight? Moon Phase shows you at a glance: the lunar disc exactly as seen from your location, with its phase, illumination percentage, day of the cycle, and moonrise and moonset times.

TONIGHT'S MOON
A moon disc drawn with astronomical accuracy and oriented for your hemisphere: from the south the moon appears mirrored, and the app gets it right.

PHASE CALENDAR
The whole month at a glance, with a mini moon for every day. Tap any day to see its phase in detail, or jump straight to the next new moon or full moon.

BEST STARGAZING NIGHTS
We compute the dark-sky windows for the next 14 nights — when no moon interferes between sunset and sunrise — rated from Excellent to Poor so you can plan your sessions.

REMINDERS
Set a reminder on a good night and we'll notify you right when your observation window begins.

YOUR LOCATION OR ANY CITY
Use your approximate location or pick a city from the list. All astronomical calculations run on your device: the app works fully offline.

Perfect for amateur astronomers, astrophotographers, night fishers, moon gardeners, and anyone who looks up at the sky.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.3 — 2026-08-11

New "Can you see the moon?" card: tells you whether you'll actually see it tonight from where you are, at what time, how high, and which way to look.

You can also turn on the sky forecast (optional, in Settings) so the answer takes cloud cover into account.

We also clarified the "best nights" list: it's for stargazing, meaning moonless nights. The old wording suggested the opposite.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-07-29

Stability improvements.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-07-27

Stability improvements.

### 1.0 — 2026-07-25

No release notes.
