## What is MoonCity Player?

MoonCity Player plays the media files you already have: MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WebM, HEVC, MP3, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, WAV and many more.

Import files from the Files app or iCloud Drive, and play them offline. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account.

• Wide format support — video and audio formats that the built-in players do not open
• Background audio — keep listening with the screen off, with lock screen and Control Center controls
• 10-band equalizer with presets, Even Out Volume and a spectrum visualizer
• Playback speed, A-B repeat, shuffle, repeat, Shorten Silences and a fading sleep timer
• Practice mode — mark sections of a track and loop them with rests, repeat counts and step-up speeds
• Subtitles — embedded tracks and external subtitle files
• Folders, playlists, favorites and recent playback — the app's folder also appears in Files
• Share a song, or send it with its practice sections to another MoonCity
• City vibes — link a playlist to a city and browse your music by place
• Listening statistics and a home screen widget
• Left/right balance, saved per headphones or speaker
• iPad layout with sidebar
• English and Korean

MoonCity Player only plays files you import. It does not include or download any media.

Playback is powered by libVLC through MobileVLCKit, licensed under the LGPL v2.1. See Settings → Open Source Licenses.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-05

Audio
• The speaker now plays through the app's own audio engine, so playback keeps going with the screen locked
• Even Out Volume — keeps songs at a similar loudness
• Shorten Silences — skips through long quiet stretches
• Spectrum visualizer on the artwork
• The sleep timer fades out instead of stopping mid-sentence

Practice mode
• Tap A and B while listening to save a section; long-press one to fine-tune it in 0.1 s steps
• Rest between repeats, lead-in before A, speed in 5 % steps and step-up speed plans
• The timeline zooms to the section; loops end right at B
• Practice time per day and repeat counts per section

Sharing and files
• Share the current song from ··· › Share, or send it with its practice sections as a .mooncity file
• The app's folder appears in Files, and other apps can "Open in MoonCity"
• Imports show progress and name any file that could not be brought in
• Titles, artists and albums come from the file's tags

Fixes
• Pausing and then skipping or scrubbing no longer leaves a spinner over the artwork or ignores play from the lock screen

### 1.0 — 2026-09-30
