## What is MoonlightJob?

Is that event shift worth more than the shift you already have? MoonlightJob answers before you say yes.

It finds the games, concerts and shows near you this week, and for each one works out what the work would leave you per hour after the trip there and back, your gas and car upkeep, your transit fare and parking you enter. Then it sets that against your regular shift, a day off, or what you usually make.

WHAT YOU SEE
- Tonight: pick when you're free and get one answer, with a bar showing what you'd keep after the trip.
- My shifts: your week as seven bars, the best pay per hour each day. Tap a day for its events and the best work that fits. Add a shift you found in four fields and see what it would leave you as you type.
- Events: a map and list of what's on within your search radius, with real drive or transit times. Switch to Work for event staff (ushers, concessions, security, cleanup, parking) at typical pay for your area, and driving after the crowd lets out.
- Me: your pay, your costs, your search radius and what happens to your data.

NEW IN 1.1
- Four tabs: Tonight, My shifts, Events and Me.
- Shown, not told: bars for the money, your time and your week, with where each number comes from one tap away.
- Add a shift in four fields.
- A three-screen setup.

NUMBERS YOU CAN TRACE
- Typical pay comes from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics wage survey for your metro area or state, or the local minimum wage where that is higher, read on the day of the event. It's marked as an estimate, not an offer.
- Travel times come from real routes, and the app says so when it has to estimate one. Gas is the US Energy Information Administration's weekly average for your area unless you type your own price.
- When nobody publishes the pay, as with rideshare driving, Moonlight doesn't guess. It shows what you'd need to make per hour for the work to be worth it.
- Log what you actually made after a night, and next time Moonlight uses your own numbers.

FROM ANY LISTING
Found a shift in another app or on a web page? Share it to Moonlight from the share sheet. It reads only what the listing states and leaves the rest for you to fill in.

RUN EVENTS? POST THEM
Bars, venues, markets and teams can post the events they run, as they happen, and say whether they need staff and at what rate. Workers nearby see the post marked as yours. Every new organizer is checked before anything they post goes public, and every post can be reported.

YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
Finding work needs no account and no sign-in. No ads, no tracking. Your job, your shifts and what you made stay on your phone. Location is optional: type a US city or ZIP instead. Organizers give a name and a way to reach them, which workers see on a post that is hiring.

GOOD TO KNOW
- Covers the 50 states and DC.
- Moonlight doesn't hire anyone. The employer or organizer decides who works.
- Busy driving hours are shown in Chicago only, from the city's published trip data.
- For adults 18 and over.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-23

Moonlight now works outside the app, and organizers get more.

- A Tonight widget for your Home Screen and Lock Screen: tonight's best work, what you'd keep per hour after costs, and when to leave.
- A leave-by Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island for work you've taken, with "On my way" and "Not tonight".
- Ask Siri "What's worth it tonight in Moonlight", or use it in Shortcuts.
- Organizers can post straight from their venue's listed events, repeat a post every week, and see how many workers are interested.
- Workers can tap "I'm interested" on an organizer's post. The organizer sees a number, never who.
- The Events map keeps Apple Maps' Legal link in view.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-22

A simpler, more visual Moonlight.

- Four tabs: Tonight, My shifts, Events and Me.
- Tonight leads with one answer and a bar showing what you'd keep after the trip.
- My shifts shows your week as seven bars; tap a day to see it.
- Add a shift in four fields and watch what you'd keep as you type.
- A three-screen setup.
- "Your data" now shows at a glance what stays on your phone and what leaves it.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-10-18

- A Sunday evening reminder to look at the week's events near you. It's off until you turn it on, from My Week or Profile, and it carries no figures.
- Share an answer: on a job worth taking, the share button makes a picture of what it leaves you per hour after costs, with the job, the time and the venue, for a friend or a group chat. Nothing about you is in it, and Moonlight sends nothing.
- Cleaner screens: less explaining, the figures up front, and where each comes from one tap away (ⓘ).
- Shorter lists: Tonight shows one card per event (the rest are on Work), and My Week shows three events a day with "Show all" for the rest.
- Car costs sit in one row under Getting around, and say which figures are averages and which are yours.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-10

• Run events? Post them in Moonlight and say if you need staff. Workers nearby see your events, and every new organizer is checked first.
• Tonight shows its answer as soon as it opens.
• You only see work that fits the time you're free and that you can still get to.
• The answer at the top and the list under it now always agree.
• Event staff pay is estimated from roles you can be hired for without a security licence, and shows the local minimum wage where a survey figure falls below it.
• Call the venue straight from an event staff job.
• Easier-to-read colours, and fixes for larger text and iPad.
