## What is MoonMan?

A minimalist gravity escape game. Save the mine, the Moon and humanity.

The miners who dig out the moon diamonds are the most respected people on Earth. Every city runs on stones that passed through their hands, and they hold on to every one, whatever the Moon throws at them. On Earth they are called Diamond Hands.

A meteor has hit the Moon and the main mine shaft is coming down. The crew near the top of the shaft got out, but one MoonMan is still hard at work. Climb to the top before the rock catches you.

If the shaft goes, the Moon goes with it. The mine runs so deep that its collapse would break the Moon's hold on its orbit, and Earth's gravity would pull it down on everyone and everything. Even a near miss would wreck the tides and the winds, and famine would follow. One miner has to reach the top, for the planet and for the balance of the solar system.

Hold your thumb on the screen to aim. The arrow swings back and forth, so if you miss the angle you want, it comes round again. Let go to jump. Jump steep to climb high, or flat to cross the shaft fast. Prefer to choose the angle yourself? Turn on Manual aim in Settings, then slide your thumb to set it.

In the air, hold again to puff air from your suit, and slide your thumb left or right to turn.

Land with your boots flat against the wall. A neat landing is CLEAN. A perfectly square one is PERFECT, and PERFECT landings build up speed for your next jump. Hit the wall crooked or too fast and you tear your suit.

Keep an eye on your air. It runs down all the time, and puffing to steer uses more.

The mine is falling in below you, so keep climbing. When the falling rock gets close, the edges of the screen glow red and a countdown starts.

As you climb, the whole solar system goes by behind you: Earth, Venus, Mercury, the Sun, Mars, the asteroid belt, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Make it past Neptune and a new lap begins with a full tank of air. Every lap is harder, and worth more points.

Six short practice lessons teach you every move. Pick a suit you like. It only changes how you look.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.2 — 2026-10-31

- On iPhone and Android, the sound now comes back by itself when you leave the game and return to it. Sometimes it stayed off, music and effects both, and tapping didn't bring it back; only closing the app and opening it again did.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-10-21

- The eclipse no longer flashes as it begins: the shaft now goes dark smoothly, and the solar flare, dust storm and aftershock build in without a dip.
- Leaving the game and coming back is quiet again: the sound fades out as you go and comes back smoothly, instead of stuttering or leaving a stray tone behind.
- The lap card adds up: the score counts up with the lap bonus, instead of showing the bonus on top of a total that already includes it.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-10-20

- Manual aim: turn it on in Settings, then hold and slide your thumb to set the angle of a jump. The arrow shows where you will go. The swinging arrow is still the default, and both ways count on the leaderboards.
- Before the first jump, a new player is asked how they want to aim. The question about turning now comes at the first wall.
- The title screen tells you what to do, and text across the game follows one clear order of size and weight, with nothing smaller than 12 pixels.
- The end-of-run screen is easier to read: why the run ended and your laps now share one line above the advice, and "Quit to title" is now called "Main menu".
- How to play, in the pause menu, is now in your language.
- After an update, a short What's new shows what changed.
- The tagline now names the mine first, then the Moon, then humanity.
- If you share anonymous play data, it now includes which settings you use, so the public stats page can show how many players use each.

### 1.1.3 — 2026-10-19

- The iPhone and iPad app now plays the game's own music and sound effects. Since it launched it played only a few plain stand-in tones, and the opening film was silent.
- The first sounds you hear, the tap and the opening film's low drone, are now the game's own recordings instead of stand-in tones.
- In the training ground, the pause menu and its Settings now sit on top of the level's coaching and buttons. Before, those showed through and could take your taps.
