## What is Moonrise?

AVIA Moonrise is an application that presents an accurate moon phase and the official sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset times for any place on Earth and for any date between Jan 1,1900 and Dec 31, 2099.

The application instantly shows the appearance and events for your iPhone's current location, and you can quickly check any location in the world using the map view. Perfect for fishing or hunting trips, or astronomers and astrologers.

The calculations for events are accurate to a few minutes of the US Naval Observatory sun and moon calendars, and it doesn't rely on large astronomical data updates, nor on-line sites. In fact, it never accesses the Internet! This avoids any roaming charges from your operator. If you use the map function, you naturally need to have internet access.

Sad, but true, the app is telling me the moon will be full on Monday, September 12, 2022 when it’s actually 100% full tonight, Saturday, September 10, 2022. Kind of defeats the purpose…

It shows moon rise and moon set, sun rise and sun set, easy to change to the next day, between the two apps I have installed, this one is my favourite and to go to app to check the moon rise time when I want to go and watch it.

I’ve had this app for years, and have just realised tonight, on the night of the harvest moon, that this app is giving the wrong times for the moon. It’s telling me that the full moon isn’t for another 2 days, when it’s actually tonight. So basically this app has failed to deliver on its whole purpose.

We have heeded the user feedback and made a substantial update: perfect moon phase data, more sun/moon data, and improved support for users in "off-hour" timezones.

Additions/Improvements:
- The About/Visit button now explains better how to use the app and understand what it presents. (Recommended reading, even for seasoned professionals!)
- 'Today' button (click the date)
- Next Full Moon now displays the 100% full moon date, with the full moon period (for hunting) underneath.
- The Sunrise view now shows a full list of rise and set times for a +/-7 days period.

Extras:
- Subtly twinkling stars and minor typography tweaks.

Corrections:
- Under certain circumstances the moon phase could be one day off. This is now fixed.
- Pin Me: has been fully analyzed with no reproducible bug. The code has been made simpler and more robust.
- Timezone/DST in the map view: When moving the pin, timezone offsets from your phone's can only be estimated, and only the phone's DST can be accessed. See the support webpage for correct usage.
- If you use the app in a timezone with a half-hour etc. time offset, you should now get correctly displayed sun and moon times on the home screen, and estimated timezone offsets (to on-the-hour timezones only) should display correctly in the map.
