### 2/5 — MagLight

*2025-09-12, version 3.4.1*

### 2/5 — The pair button is not functioning

*2024-12-02, version 3.3.3*

I disconnected my lamp because I was moving, and now I can connect back to it because the UI for the pair button does not work.

### 2/5 — It's an app

*2024-10-13, version 3.3.3*

The app connects and disconnects over and over. The setup is of no help. The functions that this is supposed to have does not work. Not happy with the app or the light I bought

### 4/5 — Poor instructions. Good product

*2024-09-05, version 3.3.3*

Once you can decipher the instructions and find out how to make it work this looks good. Support is helpful.

### 4/5 — Add HomeKit

*2024-01-09, version 3.1.1*

The lamp is great and I’ll buy more if you add Apple HomeKit integration.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2023-10-08, version 2.23*

App won’t open or load just a black screen

### 3/5 — Still No HomeKit

*2023-09-28*

Website’s been promising HomeKit integration for years. Lamp is great, but app currently lacks true potential.

### 2/5 — The lamp is really great but…

*2023-02-08, version 1.33*

Using certain colours on wifi rather then Bluetooth causes weird glitches in the colours. Also setting up IFTTT with iOS shortcuts and turning on the light causes it to flash on and off repeatedly and sporadically until I turn it off.

### 2/5 — Great lamps, terrible app

*2023-01-31, version 1.33*

The lights themselves are great but the app most of the time doesn’t even work. Simply turning the lamp on or off is unpredictable; sometimes it works straight away, other times it takes at least 10 attempts and closing the app and reopening it. Also Homekit support has been “coming soon” for over 2 years and still has not been added. It’s a shame because the lamps themselves are really nice, but the broken app makes using them a complete hassle.

### 5/5 — Nice app

*2022-11-29, version 1.33*

The pre-set themes are gorgeous and the bluetooth connection is stable. Hope they can add more features soon though.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — WIFI support is awful

*2026-04-24, version 4.2.1*

Cannot connect my brand new halo lamp to wifi. Flat out doesn't respond. Used to work on my lighthouse lamp and no longer functions there either. Team seems to be too busy playing with their 3d printer to fulfill their promises and ensure their app functions. It gets worse with every update.

### 1/5 — Nothing works

*2026-04-07, version 4.1.1*

I don’t know if I should blame the app or the light. But basically nothing works, over Bluetooth it works SOMETIMES, but even then the light will randomly glitch, and you can’t use it with any other smart home devices. Over WiFi mode nothing works, I’ve gotten it to where Alexa can turn it on and off, but that’s it. And even then half the time it’ll turn on to a random color. Plus when it’s on wifi mode NOTHING in the Moonside app works, I can’t turn it on or off, change the theme or color, nothing. The scenes you create in the app also don’t show up in Alexa or Google so once it’s on WiFi mode you can’t get it to do anything but turn on and off to (hopefully) the last color you had it set yo. To switch it back to Bluetooth mode you also need to turn off the WiFi itself, and then unplug and replug the device. Why would they not have built in a physical button to change modes?! It’s just not practical at all, the lights are pretty and unique, but are barely functional if you can’t reliably control them.

### 1/5 — Remove the AI recommended and improve the UI

*2026-04-01, version 4.1.1*

Whoever had the brilliant idea of adding “AI recommended” (that doesn’t even work and just obstructs the UI) please find another job.

I love the lamo but the app is poorly designed. Its way too over engineered for something that should be really simple.

### 1/5 — Won’t find Bluetooth

*2026-02-16, version 4.0.1*

Won’t find lamps or anything had to reset the app and know won’t find lamps at all now

### 1/5 — Broken promises broken lights

*2026-01-12, version 3.4.2*

Halo and many other lamps still don’t have HomeKit support as promised. App is so glitchy and doesn’t even set base colors correctly. It’s so disappointing to see such poor software support.

### 1/5 — WLAN Verbindung unmöglich

*2025-09-02, version 3.4.1*

Es ist nicht möglich die Lampe per WLAN zu verbinden. Man kann den Namen des Netzwerks nicht auswählen und es kommt keine Verbindung zustande.

### 1/5 — Problem

*2025-04-14, version 3.3.7*

why I can only sign in but can not sign up?

### 1/5 — Lights are good, but they’re ruined by this app

*2024-10-06, version 3.3.3*

This app ruins the Moonside lights I own.

The process of connecting the lights to WiFi is confusing and difficult to perform. After the lights have been connected to WiFi, they cannot be reliably controlled. Unless I’m standing immediately next to each light, controlling it is not possible.

The automations feature does not work either. I’ve setup two automations, one to turn my lights on at sunset and another to turn them off at sunrise. The automations worked once to turn some of the lights on, but not all the lights. After that automation worked once, it’s never worked again. The automation to turn the lights off has never worked.

Finally, the IFTTT integration does not work because it’s not possible to connect Moonside lights to IFTTT. Try following the instructions provided by Moonside and you’ll find that they instruct you to perform impossible an action that do not exist.

When I first turned my Moonside lights on I was delighted. Everything after that has been a disappointment.

### 1/5 — device not getting synced

*2024-08-15, version 3.3.2*

bought a new lamp phone, and the device is not getting sent it continuously keeps loading on the cloud network off Moonside the most rubbish I have ever ever come across

### 1/5 — Not possible to control light..

*2024-05-03, version 3.2.2*

.. through different devices. Even though I am logged in with the same account both on iPad and iPhone, my lights only show on one device.

### 5/5 — Truly a Gem

*2026-05-29, version 4.2.1*

This app seems to be getting a lot of negative reviews, but I have only good things to report. This app is a gem in the sense that you don’t have to make an account to use it (incredible these days) and you don’t even have to connect your light to WiFi, it’s all Bluetooth! I love how fast it was to setup and connect. Yes you have to be close to your light to switch colors/themes (duh) but it’s great that I don’t have to connect to the internet and it’s still wireless. Love the product and app.

### 5/5 — Love the lights and the app

*2024-05-13, version 3.3.0*

Don’t know why people don’t like this app, does everything you need with the lights and never failed me. I love the quality of the products and they have great customer service. The app is perfect and simple and doesn’t really need changing in my eyes.

### 5/5 — Saubere und übersichtliche UI

*2022-12-28, version 1.33*

### 5/5 — The Best smart light I've bought

*2022-11-29, version 1.33*

App works perfectly with my lamps. I really love the painting features which brings so many possibilities to it!

### 5/5 — A gamer changer

*2022-11-29, version 1.33*

The addressable lighting theme are fantastic! One of the best LED lamp on the market. I also love the APP's UI, it looks very clean and easy to use. Hope to have a dark version soon.

This is so awesome there are so many themes and cool things that you can do just pair it to the lamp via Bluetooth and you are ready to go and party.
