### 3/5 — Ok

*2026-08-02*

The search box gets cut off at the top as does some of the information. The diagrams are too close to the top of the page

### 2/5 — Runs fine… mostly

*2026-04-28*

This app is in dangerous need of an update and will probably stop working soon

### 4/5 — Essential for outdoor people

*2026-03-14, version 1.5.2*

I work as a hiking guide, and I find this app incredibly useful. It had helped me learn and ID all the central Australian birds that I'm new to.

The only two improvements would be actual photos as well as the drawings. Sometimes I find it easier using Pizzey and Knight for this reason.

Please also fix the photos of species distribution! I would include a screenshot if I could, but when you are viewing this map, sometimes a species name and colour code will be up in the top left and this will be blocked from view by the top menu bar (to ‘go back’, the ‘species name’, and ‘add bird’ bar). It’s been a minor issue the whole 5 years I’ve been using this app. All you need to do is move all the photos slightly down a few mm.

### 2/5 — Missing birds

*2025-07-11*

Missing a few birds e.g. mallee ring neck found around Lightning Ridge.

### 4/5 — Idea tick system

*2025-05-09*

Great app ! It should be interesting to add a tick system for species we already seen. When you are a foreigner and you don't know all the species, it will be easier to find again species we have seen before. Like a tick system just next to species name in taxonomic index. Thanks !

### 3/5 — Great App but infrequently updated

*2024-07-26*

Have been using this app for over 10years and its great excey It really needs more frequent updates as the species names have been revised & has some bugs on my iphone 12 mini where the display overlaps the search window and other issues.
No updates for 3 years + now!!!

### 4/5 — Match calls

*2024-06-13*

It would be good if we could check the calls we hear against those in the app database so we can know what birds are around.
Otherwise, great app 😊

### 3/5 — Unfortunate

*2024-03-27*

Since getting a new phone my list of birds is less than half what it used to be! How do I update the app back to the full list plus your new additions?!
Unfortunate since I paid quite a bit for this app and love it, I would like to use it again 😪

### 3/5 — Needs a lot more work but still a decent app

*2024-01-16*

* I changed operating systems and can’t import the list I exported from my old phone - they said it was coming but that was a year ago
* The ‘my list’ logs are poorly laid out - they’re all on one long page and difficult to follow
* It seems I can’t delete one log without deleting all logs for that bird
* Needs a lot more work for 5 stars, especially given the price

### 2/5 — Can’t get the list to work.

*2023-11-02*

I’m on an iPhone 14, and the feature to check box birds you’ve seen doesn’t work. Nothing is saved.

### 4/5 — Overall, excellent.

*2023-08-26*

I’ve used the app for some years. I’m sure there used to be an option to add more than one “My List”. Today I can’t find any way of doing so. What am I missing?

### 4/5 — Personal bird list

*2023-04-13*

I’ve used this app successfully for several years, and I have developed a nice list of bird sightings. Just purchased a new phone and downloaded the app no problems but my list is empty. Can I somehow move my list across or do I have to start again! Please help! I would hate to have lost that data!

### 3/5 — Passably good

*2022-08-18*

I love the app and it’s features generally, but there are simply gaps in the database, birds in the various books that I refer to that are not on the app. This is frustrating when I want to record a sighting and the bird doesn’t exist according from the app.

### 4/5 — Support

*2020-05-30, version 1.5.1*

I have happily used this app since it first came out but now I cannot get into the app at all. What is happening? This means I have lost my personal list and notes. Can someone tell me what to do to get in again?

### 2/5 — Location location

*2020-04-30, version 1.5*

My location won’t work. Screen goes dark and hurls me back to main screen. I could scream.

### 3/5 — No gallery view on phone

*2020-04-18, version 1.5*

I had bought this several years ago, version on iPad has Gallery view. I bought new iPhone and downloaded app assuming it would be the same......not!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Broken search bar

*2025-10-26*

It’s been years and the search field is still covered by the taxonomic index heading. So if you want to search for a bird you only get to see the bottom 3mm of the search text field. lol, it’s like a 3 year old designed it and didn’t do any testing or just doesn’t care cos they’ve got our money now.
So many years and it’s still broken. What is the developer doing for such an expensive app? Avoid

### 1/5 — Is this app still supported?

*2025-08-10*

The last update was 4 years ago & the app support link does not work. It begs the question as to whether this app is being supported any more?

### 1/5 — Moorcomb’s &Stewart Guide Hopeless

*2025-01-05*

This Apple app does not find common birds like Ibis , owls etc - very disappointing
James A Temlett

### 1/5 — Unsupported and full of bugs

*2023-07-14*

it’s full of bugs and not worth the money

### 1/5 — Bug?

*2022-12-18*

App has recently stopped working after selecting for region. Can’t get out of region page.

### 1/5 — Help

*2020-12-29, version 1.5.1*

The sound on my app is not working. Any advise pls?

### 1/5 — Crashes consistently.

*2020-12-28, version 1.5.1*

App crashes consistently when selecting some birds.
Others simply cannot be selected, get taken to incorrect bird details.
Rubbish app.
Trying to get a refund.

### 1/5 — Very Practical and useful

*2020-09-03, version 1.5.1*

I did enjoy and use this app a lot but since the latest update on my iOS phone the app constantly crashes and has annoying bugs. When selecting a specific species to view , the app chooses to select another random species and opens that instead, eg: I select Raja Shelduck and marbled frogmouth opens instead. I select to play the call of a lyrebird and olive-backed oriole plays instead.

### 1/5 — I was so excited

*2020-07-30, version 1.5.1*

But I couldn’t even download the app. Tried multiple times over days but it kept stopping part way through download.

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

*2019-12-07, version 1.4.4*

I paid serious money for this app, and now I see it hasn’t been updated in THREE YEARS!?!?
It’s now a glitchy artefact of days gone by... Time for the App Lords to archive this one.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-08-28*

This app is worth every penny . My partner and I have it on both our phones and we use it all the time . Love been able to play the bird calls too .

### 5/5 — Essential for outdoor people

*2023-01-27, version 1.5.2*

I work as a hiking guide, and I find this app incredibly useful. It had helped me learn and ID all the central Australian birds that I'm new to.

The only improvement would be actual photos as well as the drawings. Sometimes I find it easier using Merlin bird ID app for this reason.

### 5/5 — App Transfer

*2022-01-30*

I just got a new phone and was wondering if this app can transfer bird lists between phones.

### 5/5 — Absolutely fantastic! Better than many of my bird books

*2022-01-03*

Incredibly helpful illustrations showing birds of different ages/seasons/sexes. Beautiful illustrations and great feature of having bird calls and a map. The best and only bird app I need.

### 5/5 — Best guide to Oz birds

*2020-09-23*

No other Australian bird app field guide comes even close. The book this app is built from still beats all for speed and ease of use and density of information, but that’s because a single digital screen will never equal 200 pages of “screens”. Stop bashing the app and wait for the update to fix the app. Patience folks. This is software. :)

### 5/5 — Great App

*2019-11-15, version 1.4.4*

As a fairly new birder, I have found the app really good for identifying birds I didn’t know. My only problem was I added a bird to my list which I later realised was incorrect but could not work out how to delete it from my list. Would be nice if you could add your own bird photo’s. Overall though I think it is well worth the money and better than carrying a book around with you.

### 5/5 — Do a release

*2019-03-25, version 1.4.4*

Not optimised for recent iPhones or editions of iOS.

### 5/5 — Most successful bird app.

*2017-11-12, version 1.4.4*

I am very happy that you made this tool. When ever I am uncertain of a calli always check this app straight away. One thing you could improve on is the list. I accidentally added a bird incorrectly and hade to delete the list and start again. If you could fix this in the next update that would be great👌🏻🖖🏿🖕🏿👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😁😆🤣😂😅

### 5/5 — Fantastic app

*2017-07-11, version 1.4.4*

What a wonderful app. I totally agree. Forget about lugging around books any more. This is all you need for watching birds.
However! It seems to be crashing a little bit.
It may need looking at.
But other than that, amazing app.

### 5/5 — Replaced my field guides

*2017-04-13, version 1.4.4*

No longer any need to take a bird book when out bushwalking. The inclusion of high quality bird sounds is an added bonus. I've had this app for years and it receives regular updates.
