As of 14/07/25, the app has continuously failed to open on my phone. With multiple friends and associates experiencing the same problem. Prior to that it was a very handy app for highlighting designated hunting areas. And adding an additional measure to aid in the assurance of hunting in a lawful hunting area.

The app use to be brilliant. Clear maps, great for hunting and being out in the bush. However recently the app opens and immediately crashes. I’ve tested it on multiple devices and the same thing occurs. Any chance this is getting fixed soon?

For some reason this app now crashes almost every time I open it. It cannot be trusted in the outdoors.

This was an absolute 5 star app until about a month ago it just started crashing almost as soon as you open it. This is the 6th time I’ve deleted and reinstalled it in the last month. Please do something about it asap.

Crashes upon opening.  I have deleted and reloaded multiple times but problem persists.  Really disappointing as it is a useful and important app for planning safe adventures in the bush

Overall the app is really good. The interface works well and it’s great to see DEECA investing in an app for outdoor enthusiasts. 

Current issues:

Filter by hunting game: When the hunting overlay is applied only the pest animal areas show up. If you switch to any of the deer types or ducks etc. the overlay disappears and the app needs to be restarted.

Tap for more information: The user guide says that you can click on an area ie. a state forest and see what type of game is allowed to be hunted in that area. This doesn’t seem to be working in iOS 

I am using an iPhone 15 pro

Wow! What a tough crowd of reviewers!  

This App is 108MB of knowledge that I didn’t have previously and it’s FREE! Why the hate?  I use Gaia GPS and Billy Goat for 4WD navigation, route planning and campsites etc.  This App is an awesome supplement as I can see road closures and current news updates that’s not available to me otherwise.

What’s not to like? 

And did I mention it’s free?  Keep up the good work ‘DELWP’, pat on the back from me!

Still without resolve, go to load hunting maps and pick my quarry to hunt and all the areas disappear. Been like this for the last 6 months for me. Uninstalled several times and reinstalled to no avail.

App is useless, open the app just for it to glitch and shut down sending me back to my Home Screen. I delete and reinstall the app only for it to open the map once just for it to glitch and bug out again.

It was good when it used to work

Your app keeps crashing, multiple people have also experienced this. And you don't seem to do anything about it. If you open the app in the hunting category then close the app then open it again it will keep on crashing. Only way to fix this is uninstall the app completely then download it again. You can't shut the app down if you're using it, have to keep it open in a tab otherwise you will have to do that whole process again.

Keeps crashing taking my ipad with it requiring me to restart the device.  Tried deleting app and reloading but still no good.  Not even close to Hunt NSW in quality of mapping which is superior in every way.  Considering the fees we pay surely the socialist utopia of Victoria could provide something usable.

This app has been helpful in narrowing down hunting boundaries. The app used to crash when clicking on my location but the bug appears to have been fixed and hasn’t had any dramas since.

Wasn’t working for a few weeks but Dev has now fixed it! Great!

Apologies. We had a system outage which stopped the map data loading, leaving users with blank screens. The issue had been fixed and maps are now loading as they should.
Sorry of the frustration we caused. Google Maps doesn't have our visitor site and trail info, nor our info on road closures. Arise from the frustrating recent outage, if you have suggestions for what we could do better, reach out to me at Moretoexplore@delwp.vic.gov.au.

I have used this app for a while, great app. Handy for when you are in the bush. Easy to use and understand. However recently the app always crashes after opening. Hopefully this issue will be fixed soon. Other than that the app is very useful when it works.
