You can parse drum parts (even dunun bell parts) to hear exactly what combination of things you want. ### 5/5 — Fantastic app, highly recommended *2016-02-13* I've been playing djembe for about 10 years and wish I'd had this app when I first started! This is a lovely little app, and a really good learning tool. Brilliant for learning the ten rhythms included in the app and fantastic practice play-along material. Each drum part can be quickly heard on its own at one touch and back to the ensemble at another touch, or you can turn on/off the parts you want to hear so you can choose how you practise best. As an experienced player I still use the app for play along material so I can practise soloing at varying speeds and with different rhythms. Notation is also there in two different formats as well as a bit of info about each rhythm. Videos are available as in-app purchases which would be very useful for players who need help with handing, and at 79p per video it's such good value. All in all, a sleek well-thought out app that every beginner djembe player should definitely buy, and one that more experienced players can still get so much out of,and all for a very reasonable price. ### 5/5 — Freaking Awesome! *2015-11-13* I love this! It's ingeniously designed to make it possible (and super fun) to play along and practice to any part in several different rhythms. The metronome is terrific and I love how you can adjust the volume on either the bell or beat in the djune parts. I'm looking forward to going through the videos too - what an amazing resource! I haven't played a djembe in ages but this little app instantly put a huge smile on my face and my hands started remembering the rhythms. And the notations and background info are interesting too. Aside from all of that, I use this as music to work to - it makes a great high energy sound track to block out distractions. Thank you Monette, totally cool! ### 5/5 — Coolest app! *2015-11-13* This is an amazing app. I have a hard time remembering African rhythms. Sheet music is no help to me. I need to hear it. But trying to record with my phone in a group setting is just too unclear and clumsy. This app takes care of all that by having all the drum parts played together or separately. You can adjust the tempo to play slow until you get it down and then speed it up. It's brilliant! ### 5/5 — Awesome! *2015-11-11* This app is seriously cool! Great app! ### 5/5 — Mo'Rhythm changes the game! *2015-11-11* I have known Monette Marino since the early 90s. I was always impressed by her talent, discipline and absolute joy with which she approached her music. Like many of us who were fascinated by African rhythms she spent many years learning obscure rhythms from cranky teachers who often times wouldn't take her seriously because she was a woman. She has paid her dues at least twice. This app, Mo'Rhythm is a game-changer. It could only have been designed by someone with the depth of experience and knowledge that Monette possesses. This is just what percussionists always wanted, a way to hear the part you want to learn in context, and isolated from the others instruments, in real time. This makes it almost too easy. For all of you just coming up and anxious to learn as many rhythms as you can, once you install this app you will have no more excuses. I can't wait for the Afro-Cuban and Brazilian versions. Right? There will be more won't there? ### 5/5 — Super App *2015-11-11* The sounds are clear. Being able to adjust the volume of each drum, change tempo, mute bells and individual drums is very clever. With the inter-audio feature, I can also play along in djembe pro or play my African drums and "practice" while everyone else is asleep. It does not work with my new iPhone 6s. I got it to come on a couple times but only when it feels like it not when I want it to. Very frustrating. Je l'ai installée il y a longtemps elle est enfin fonctionnelle. ### 2/5 — Frustrated *2015-11-13* I had high hopes for this app only to be disappointed when after paying $2.99, it doesn't work because you have to pay $.99 each rhythm. Boo. Good idea but at least give some free songs. ### 3/5 — Disappointed *2019-02-16* I like the app but what I don’t like is the fact that you don’t get all the rhythms all at once. You only get ten rhythms and then you have to pay additional fees for each set of ten. I don’t recall seeing this information before purchasing, otherwise I might have declined. Piti Piti Pa costs a dollar less and automatically includes SIXTY-TWO rhythms! No additional purchases... However, I do like that Mo Rhythm includes the written notation... Only three stars; mixed feelings but mostly disappointed in the overcharging for additional rhythms without informing the consumer beforehand...sorry ### 3/5 — Cool, but won't transfer to new iPad *2017-05-03* The app is great, but when I bought a new iPad I was asked to again for the intermediate files. ### 3/5 — Further help needed *2015-11-22* In principle this should be a good app. There is much that is to applauded: the attempt to provide videos, being able to solo any instrument or any combination of instruments, the provision of various forms of notation. However in two areas improvement is needed. The videos take up to much memory: I stopped downloading after finding that the size of videos for just own rhythm was approx 200 mb. My impression is that by careful choice of video format and size smaller videos would be possible; there are plenty of examples of smaller but excellent videos on YouTube. Moreover, I found the videos a little difficult to follow: it may be the angle from which the video is taken or the speed of playing. I find the YouTube videos of Michael de Miranda much better as a teaching aid. A second area where improvement could be made is in the notation section. Other great features for the 30 rhythms are notations, option to repeat the signal, independent volume control for each part, metronome, and history. You can easily adjust the volume of the other instruments, even turn them off if you wish to play alone. The videos are shot form a good angle so you can see the hand movements clearly. A really nice feature is being able to slow down the beats per minute, then you can increase it as you get better. The only improvement I would suggest would be to have the option to purchase all the videos all at once instead of one at time.
