### 2/5 — There are no bad emotions, writing about trauma does NOT mean I’m “NEGATIVE”!!

*2026-06-16*

I’m so disappointed in these developers. I liked the simple writing format. But it analyzed all my writing as “negative”. How simplistic and childish. Jeez. Julian Cameron does not describe writing that way. No one on writing platforms I go on would summarize thoughtful writing that way. It was depressing to see NEGATIVE just because I wrote about someone abusive. I’m guessing if you are grieving it’s also seen as negative instead of healthy and NORMAL.

Clearly also the developers of this app NEVER respond to any reviews about this or other issues. They are using a writing technique in the most gross way to make money. Sigh. Goodbye. I’m looking for ethical writing apps. And that don’t judge people as “YOU’RE NEGATIVE” because of words??

**Developer response:** Thank you for writing this. The analysis was never meant to judge; writing about painful things is exactly what morning pages are for, and seeing that labeled "negative" is a fair thing to be angry about. This feedback is shaping how the analysis wording evolves, and a setting to turn analysis off entirely is rolling out. Until then, support@morningpages.app can switch it off for any account on request.

### 2/5 — Disappointed with support

*2025-10-29, version 2.903*

I bought the paid subscription, through the link on my desktop. However my subscription has not been upgraded. I’ve emailed the support link and have not received an answer nor explanation. I’m very disappointed.

### 2/5 — Great App but keeps crashing

*2025-07-21, version 2.902*

Day one of the free version was really cool! I got to see how it is meant to function where it shows you you the primary emotions pulled from your journal entry. However I've journaled twice since then and the last two days I've attempted to look at my insights and it keeps crashing and doesn't load insights for any day besides my first day. It does show that I journaled on those days, though, so I know I submitted correctly.

### 4/5 — Simple yet effective

*2025-05-20, version 2.9*

I really enjoy this app. It is simple and yet effective for daily journaling. The only improvement I would suggest is to have cross platform comparability between iPad version and iPhone version.

### 4/5 — Love This App!

*2025-05-08, version 2.9*

Absolutely love this app!! It’s perfect. I liked the insights it showed me the first time I journaled and I really wanted to buy the Pro version for $5.99 a month, with a 7 day free trial. Every time I try to subscribe to it, a message pops up reading “The purchase identifier is invalid” and to “Contact Support”. I’m really hoping they fix this because I’d really like to buy the Pro version.

### 4/5 — Good app

*2025-03-03, version 2.9*

I love this app and it is such a good app for journaling. It’s the only app that I’ve really liked. The only thing is that I really wish that you could add pictures to your entries. I think that that would just make this app absolutely perfect. Also if I’m being super pickey than I would say a few more fonts would be nice but that’s not really a big deal.

### 2/5 — Glitchy typing experience

*2024-12-03*

I have a modest daily goal of 500 words. I use this as my minimum, always aiming for 1000 words if I can.

I like the calendar in this app and the insights, but the typing experience leaves much to be desired.

1. Spell check is distracting and not always correct, sometimes highlighting half of a word.
2. Cursor positioning will randomly change to the middle of the screen (possibly as a result of the auto-scrolling feature that I've seen others write about). This creates a real disturbance in my writing flow. I typically have to undo several times to get back a selection of text that I have overwritten as a result of this cursor movement (which apparently is also selecting a bunch of text).

This application is almost there, but I expect the writing experience to be as perfect as can be. I don't know if I will be able to continue using this application if this is not addressed soon. If anyone out there knows of some settings in the MacOS that might be adjusted to improve this, I would love to know!

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2024-06-04, version 2.802*

This app has single handedly revolutionized my morning pages process. I love it. I have my goal set to write 1000 words and let me tell you, writing 1000 words before breakfast goes a long way for my brain. Thank you to the dev team, I love this app so much!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-04-15, version 2.700*

A great app

### 4/5 — Good but getting glitchy

*2024-03-22*

I love this app. It's simple and it just lets me write all my thoughts out. The badges are cute, although I wish there were more. But lately, it's been super glitchy. Once I get close to 200 words, it keeps moving my cursor up to the middle of whatever I'm writing. And half the time I don't notice it until I've written like a whole sentence and I have to fix it. Then once I do it does it again after a few letters. I've checked by typing really slowly, restarting the app, and tried to just keep typing but it still does it. It's really annoying and I usually type more than 200 words so if you could fix it it would be much appreciated.

### 5/5 — What a relief

*2024-02-21, version 2.604*

Such a relief to find something that syncs between my computer and phone. I was having trouble keeping the routine of physically writing. Mainly because it's a lot to write and my mind and thoughts move to fast. I still write out some journal items but this is perfect for daily.

### 5/5 — Excelente

*2024-02-08, version 2.603*

Super vale a pena baixar e usar.

### 3/5 — like but limited

*2024-01-03, version 2.601*

The first writing was well worth the time invested. The feedback from the app was amazing and insightful - they call it insights. Like it. But in the basic app, you can't change fonts, which seems like missing the first step and holding hostage the users to push them into purchasing in app features. Don't like that. When they say try a free week, there is no notice I could see of cost if you continue. Frustrating but the writing time was great. Don't know if there is a better app out there, but this will be for me for now.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Pro Feature didn't work even when I paid

*2025-12-01, version 2.906*

I reported the issue for weeks but the developer couldn't fix the issue

### 1/5 — No support

*2025-09-09, version 2.903*

I want to love this app. It’s a beautifully clean design and a great idea…but I paid for the pro version and it simply did not work. I continued to have restrictions. I emailed the creator 3 times with no reply and ended up having to request a refund. I’m now using another app. It is such a shame as there is so much potential but significant bugs and lack of support mean it fails to deliver

### 1/5 — Can’t reset password

*2025-05-21, version 2.9*

Been trying to reset my password for days now, send multiple “reset password” emails and even reached out to the support email. I had quite the streak so it’s disappointing not being able to log in

### 1/5 — It doesn't sync

*2025-03-20, version 2.9*

Unfortunately I paid for the PRO plan and the app doesn't work properly and doesn't sync either. I've sent numerous messages to support and have had no response. I'd like my money back, but so far I've had no response

### 1/5 — Fees

*2024-09-27, version 2.806*

You advertise as a free site, then you reveal that you lied. I am currently going through a very hatd time. I lost my job and didn't qualify for unemployment. So I haven't had any income since May of 24. Please remove all of my information including my email from your database.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2024-08-08, version 2.805*

Well? goodbye Morning Pages. I'm horrified you've decided to shove "AI" into this app. I've been using it for years happily but now I don't trust you or have any confidence in my data being secure on your app anymore. I now have to tell everyone I recommended this to why I will be moving off this and back to manually journaling in a secure app with no LLM functions. You really ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Why would you ruin a perfectly good app? Embarrassing and invasive. I'm disgusted, frankly.

### 1/5 — No Analytics is being shown

*2022-12-13, version 2.323*

Even afterI subscribed, analytics on emotions etc are not being shown. The page is blank with a message "Language not supported" I am using English though

### 1/5 — Emotions and Topics Worked ONLY ONCE!

*2022-05-02, version 2.321*

Could Be A Great App If My Emotions/Topics Didn't Aways Say "Language Not Supported". I contacted the developer, and she's awareof the problem but it's not a priority for her to fix.
I could have been an amazingly helpful app, if it worked.
Don't waste your money!

### 1/5 — Fails to load daily report

*2022-03-26, version 2.322*

The app has this really cool feature where it summarises your report each day. But this doesn’t ever work (says failed to load).

### 1/5 — Non-intuite and frustrating UI

*2022-01-01, version 2.321*

Every time I'm on this app, it takes 10 minutes just to figure out how to add an entry. The only thing that looks like it would does nothing. It's either poorly designed or not functioning correctly.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Absolutely love this app!

*2025-07-13, version 2.902*

The design is amazing — minimalist, yet it has everything you need without any distractions. Every morning I genuinely look forward to writing my morning pages, and a big part of that is thanks to the app itself — it truly encourages me to write.

What inspired me to finally leave a review, though, are the achievements. They really touched me on a deeper level. I don’t know how it’ll go in the long run, but right now they’re a big motivation for me to write more often, stay consistent, and unlock new rewards. Great job to the creators!

UPD: I had just written a review about how much I enjoyed using this app, and then I updated the app… After the update, the button with all the achievements disappeared 😔 Now I have no access to them, and I’m really disappointed.

### 5/5 — Love my morning pages

*2025-03-24, version 2.9*

This gives me a simple daily journal that I don’t need to spend a fortune on.

### 5/5 — Love this App!

*2025-01-09, version 2.9*

I love this app! I enjoy and look forward to writing every morning. Stream of Conscious writing helps me to not overthink. So much less pressure. I have gotten to know myself so much more. I also love reading the quotes before I start writing. There’s not enough great things to say about this app! This app has been such a game changer in my life. Grateful for it! ❤️

### 5/5 — Best Journaling App

*2025-01-05, version 2.9*

I’ve tried dozens of writing apps, this is my favorite so far. It’s minimal, clean, and not bloated. The simple layout is sturdy and grounded. A great space to write, without AI, no labels, no fluff, just write.

### 5/5 — simple easy and perfect journaling

*2024-12-21, version 2.9*

this app has been amazing for my adhd. i have a hard time sticking with anything, but i have a streak of 32 consecutive days journaling so far. i love the simple interface so i can’t get distracted making too many changes. i love the private mode and the stats about how much i write. the only issue is that sometimes when i switch from portrait to landscape on my ipad, the calendar dates end up far in the past or far in the future. but i would recommend this app to anyone.

### 5/5 — Must-Have for Mental Health

*2024-11-22*

This app is a lifesaver! I used to struggle with racing thoughts and anxiety in the mornings, but Morning Pages has helped me tremendously. The simple act of writing down whatever comes to mind for a few minutes each day has made a huge difference in my mental clarity and overall well-being.

What sets this app apart is its incredible analysis feature. It not only tracks your word count to help you reach your daily goal (3 pages for me!), but it also provides a detailed breakdown of your writing. It identifies recurring topics, highlights emotional content (even telling you the percentage of negative words!), and tracks your mood based on the sentiment of your writing. I've gained so much insight into my thoughts and feelings that I wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

Plus, it's super private with double password protection, which gives me peace of mind. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — The way I feel about this app.

*2024-11-22*

Love the title and logo of this app. I love the simplicity. I find it especially special to have the emotions and topic tracker. I like to push for certain attitudes and perhaps I want to shoot for being gracious. I am honest so I can get the most out of understanding my feelings. Sometimes I get on to write at the end of my day and sometimes I am joyful, sometimes I am lost, sometimes im overwhelmed, or sometimes I am lost. In asking myself questions, I can better understand my thoughts. So I really love this app. I come to it when I feel all sorts of ways <3

### 5/5 — One of the best apps for emotion tracking

*2024-09-14*

I've tried a lot of journal and good tracking apps, but this one has to be my favorite. I like the analysis it gives based off of your own words rather than a series of multiple choice questions. Like another review said, I wish the app had more things to analyze, like mbti type, as well as using the app's pattern recognition to highlight potential problem areas one might be facing based on the writing. Overall, I really like this app. I sincerely hope that the developers further enhance the AI I believe it is the primary selling point of the software.

### 5/5 — A smooth transition from pen and ink

*2024-07-25, version 2.803*

I have been writing morning pages for a few years now. I used to write long hand and use several journals, note pads, loose leaf paper and carry a small note pad in my bag. I found that I wanted a way to store my thoughts for future reference and to be able to add to it throughout the day. This app is giving me such a flexible way to capture my thoughts, and dump my mind onto a digital page. The added reflection of your mood and key words has been a fun addition. For someone that thought I might feel a disconnect if I wasn’t writing long hand, I have quickly adapted to a text based app and loving this new way to start my day.
