### 4/5 — Solid but slow

*2026-06-21*

Love the tech - I use it over Whoop or other bands to get HR zone data. However the app can be buggy. Currently, it won’t even open. Can take a while for workouts to sync. Overall worth it but needs bugs to be fixed

**Developer response:** We have a brand new, completely redesigned and rewritten from scratch, app coming out in the next few weeks. It’s been undergoing beta testing by hundreds of Morpheus users for the last couple of months. Happy to add you to that so you can use it right now if you reach out to support@trainwithmorpheus.com.

### 2/5 — It’s just ok when it works

*2026-03-17, version 4.7.8*

The app is simple with a mediocre ui and subpar user experience. But I set that aside because I just want to track my heart rate. What’s harder to ignore are the bugs. This app is less reliable than the Android counterpart. I’ve had multiple instances of the app failing to sync with the backend server, where it spins and the homepage ui is hidden. The only fix is to reinstall the app, sometimes resulting in data loss. Have also had issues with it freezing when going to the recovery screen, requiring a reinstall to fix. And I’ve experienced signal loss from the hardware while doing a recovery, which is fixed by restarting the app and power cycling the hardware. Haven’t had any of these issues on the Android app after a year of use.

### 3/5 — Slow to connect

*2026-03-06*

In the morning you want it to be responsive and get on with the 2:30 test. I frequently wait for it to load data from Apple health (sleep data) while it spins and spins until I give up. Dev said to disconnect those “third parties” delete app and reinstall. Sure that worked for a day or so and now it is happening again and I want the sleep data assuming the algorithm is using it. It’s almost worth writing my own app at this point given the speed with which one can develop one. I will say it’s a good app when it works.

**Developer response:** Our brand new app is ready for Morpheus User beta testing. If you want to join as a beta tester please reach out to support@trainwithmorpheus.com and we’ll add you and communicate how to get the app. We think you’ll find the difference between the old app and the new app to be night and day.

### 2/5 — Struggles to connect

*2026-01-27, version 4.7.8*

I want so bad for this device to be great, but no one who would want one has the kind lifestyle to spend 20 minutes connecting it every morning.

### 2/5 — Too much effort to maintain

*2026-01-12, version 4.7.8*

After using this app for around 16 months, I’m giving it up. I took morning readings every morning for that entire time, and manually recorded all of my running workouts through the sync feature, and it’s just too clunky, slow, and time consuming to keep up.

For all that effort, the main benefit that I got was some advice about modulating my heart rate ranges for recovery, and some suggested weekly targets for each zone. I thought the customized ranges were pretty cool! I used them daily and tried to follow the weekly targets as closely as I could… until about 3 months ago.

Yesterday I completed my first marathon. Training was quite challenging, and came with quite concrete goals—Morpheus targets meant little when I knew I needed to put down an 18 mile run for the day. So I took my readings but did the work I needed to in order to get ready for my race, not what Morpheus suggested.

But ignoring its suggestions for a few months has left me feeling like this app just completely miscalculates what a fitness app should be. So much time waiting for it to load, seeing it crash and having to restart, manually recording every run using a finicky process that only pays attention to heart rate even though that data and more is in Apple Health, and they just can’t be bothered to poll the API and use the data… meh. In the last 18 months, I’ve put many hours of effort into this app, and the value I got from it just isn’t remotely there. I think HRV is really interesting, and I hope to see it used more meaningfully by players in the health space with a stronger product focus. For now, I’m going back to Athlytic. I wish it had this recovery-based HR zone scaling, and a better way to score HRV, but it’s quite useful without it, and is just much more feature rich, providing greater analytic transparency and range, and taking advantage of the wealth of data available through Health integration.

Maybe I’ll check in with these guys if they ever release the app re-write they planned.

### 3/5 — Unreliable app

*2025-11-20, version 4.7.8*

Great concept. App is not reliable and connection with the belt is tricky. Takes too long to load up, measurements in the morning lost. Etc.

### 3/5 — Buggy

*2025-09-09*

When it works it’s as good as any HRV & training app, but recently been refusing to recognize my M 7 HRM and when it does recognize it, the gets stuck in a loo with the M and three color circling and fails to produce results. Disappointing. It formerly was useful but problematic the past week.

### 3/5 — Not So Sure

*2025-06-28, version 4.7.7*

It’s important to note that the science behind their ‘formula’ is unproven. I feel like the z2 numbers I get back are on the high side. I feel like I’ve lost more muscle than I’ve gained aerobic capacity using their readings, as a result.

If you use this app for z2 training, hedge on the low side.

### 4/5 — New update glitching

*2025-04-01, version 4.7.4*

New update now crashes the app as soon as it opens. Hope you can fix soon. Thanks!!
Running iOS 18.3.2

### 2/5 — IOS App needs work

*2025-01-27, version 4.7.2*

The iOS app feels like a beta. Can’t edit anything after entering it. Default workout type cannot be set. Importing is janky. Historical viewing charts don’t work. Terrible UX to present after feeding the app with data every morning. Doesn’t feel like I’m learning anything from it.

### 3/5 — Buggy

*2024-12-06, version 4.7.2*

Takes way too long to calculate recovery and crashes constantly. The heart rate monitor is great though.

### 2/5 — A lot of bugs

*2024-10-05, version 4.7.2*

Sleep time does not important correctly from Apple Health.
The last update wiped out most of the past 30 days data… otherwise I love the product. The app quality needs attention though

### 2/5 — Latest version doesn’t read sleep data!

*2024-09-21*

The latest update for this app seems to have broken the sleep data collection from Apple health. Repeatedly reported the issue to the developer and kept getting a tone deaf response claiming it’s working fine “no exceptions”. That basically removes 25% of the app functionality. Fix it already!

### 4/5 — Excellent app

*2024-08-27, version 4.6.6*

Great app, but could do with a few refinements to make it perfect: 1. Let me take my HRV measurement first immediately after waking, then let me add my subjective score afterwards so I can get up and walk around so I can see how I feel. 2. Automatically connect my HRM once it has been paired. 3. Input workouts from stava / wahoo / garmin. 4. Let me export my workouts to Stava. 4. Add some more subjective scores so I can see correlations like HRV4Training offers.

### 3/5 — Iffy at best

*2024-07-24*

I wear this every workout, charge it regularly for the life of me why doesn’t it register and calculate properly?! Weekly I have to find my workouts and sync this again. I understand it’s a small tool to show progress, but never really know if it’s accurate or not. Currently it shows zero progress for the week, weird.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Heart rate zones

*2026-01-26, version 4.7.8*

Just signed up and looks like the HR zones are way too high based on all the experts I’ve studied.

### 1/5 — can't get logged in

*2026-01-21, version 4.7.8*

bad support

### 1/5 — Needs a separate device purchase

*2025-11-21, version 4.7.8*

Requires buying another device to work with the app and asks for all your data up front

### 1/5 — There is potential but needs work

*2025-01-09, version 4.7.2*

App is ok, spinning wheel is overwhelming me, the app does too much thinking, nothing seems to be local, all the data seems to be in the cloud?

There is potential but data flow needs to be optimised.

Not ability to download my own data?

### 1/5 — Awful

*2024-11-08, version 4.7.2*

I’ve had this for over 2 months and haven’t used it yet. Syncing doesn’t work. App is awful. No customer service at all. Don’t recommend it.

### 1/5 — App needs some work

*2024-10-09, version 4.7.2*

I like the product but the app needs a lot of work:

1. Sleep time for checkin doesn’t always work right. Sometimes is pulls in the right time from my health kit data other times it is off by hours. Then I change it when recording the morning checkin and it then reverts to the wrong data when recorded.
2. Sync workouts sometimes hangs and you have to close the app and try again.
3. No way to correct information when syncing.the app pauses and asks if you want to import or skip after you recorded the data for the session - why not give you the opportunity to edit one last time.
4. The app should not default to a workout type when syncing. This is incredibly annoying because the little icons are easily missed. Leave it empty and force me to click on a work out type so it is correct.

Generally the app has a dated feel. Sad that you have a good product but a not so great app.

Came back to lower my rating - the default filling in of the workout type is insanely frustrating. LEAVE IT BLANK SO WE HAVE TO CHOOSE A WORKOUT TYPE.

Another day and I have come back to reduce the stars again. Please let me change the training data after it gets submitted. Apple health now tracks training load - they figured out a way to go back and edit data - why can’t you figure this out????

### 1/5 — New update broken

*2024-08-15, version 4.6.2*

Both M7 and rhythm HRMs not working with new app update. Both work fine with my other apps

### 1/5 — Wahoo not working

*2024-06-24, version 4.5.0*

It found my device but wouldn’t let me use it. Not really interested in buying new measurement device to try this out

### 1/5 — Overhyped

*2024-05-10*

I really tried to like and understand what the hoopla was about. There’s nothing that this does that my Garmin fenix7 doesn’t do, and Garmin does so much more and better. Stopped using it. In fact, not using it anymore I’m trending in the better shape direction. It is way too conservative as far as effort, and constantly telling me to throttle back. I was meticulous on consistency using and like I said, looking for opportunities to see the value. Save your $100 or whatever it costs at the moment.

### 1/5 — Was great, now not so much

*2024-04-22, version 4.4.2*

Crashes constantly on my phone now. When I first got this in January it was fantastic but now the iPhone 13 doesn’t seem to work anymore.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great tool for effective training

*2026-07-26*

The information provided by the app has been an eye opening way to train. It measures and evaluates your HRV along with your sleep information to provide the proper heart rate training for the day. If you had a hard workout planned, it will provide number on your recovery and your heart rate range that will give you the best chance at improving your fitness. They have just introduced a new look to the app and it is easy to see your numbers at a glance. Great app to use ever.

### 5/5 — Exceptional

*2026-07-23*

The focus this app provides for training is unmatched along with the importance of how you train. The app gets you started and continues to build you in every facet.

### 5/5 — Even if you’re not a young competitive athlete!

*2026-07-22*

Many training apps focus on high intensity training, competition and younger populations (this can too). But, I found this app to be particularly great for teaching me how to understand and focus more on the importance of recovery, especially as I move into the older age category. I learned that even though I CAN train everyday, I was training too hard and NOT recovering. Staying strong, healthy and fit is very important as we age but overtraining is our enemy. Try this app if you need to learn more about staying strong but feeling good. Also, Dan is amazing at constantly answering questions, maintaining the app, and engaging with participants. I have never seen that with any other app/developer. The new update is awesome.

### 5/5 — Works well

*2025-03-30, version 4.7.4*

Works well, devs are responsive to bugs and quick fixes.

### 5/5 — Much more than five stars.

*2024-12-11*

My trainer highly recommended this product. The easiest setup. Great device. Elegant, succinct UI.

And extraordinary support...

Yesterday, I'd used it for the first time. Leg day with a serious cold - feeling awful. Frustrated that I couldn't find the summary in the app. Wrote to support in a regrettable tone - not nasty but I was an absolute jerk. Support responded helpfully. I replied admitting my horrible tone asking them to forgive me, and they were so understanding. They spoke to me on a human level after the awful way I spoke to them. Feeling grateful for the product and the team.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2024-10-30*

I’ve used various training apps/devices over the years. I heard about this from an interview Peter Attia had with Joel, its founder. I was skeptical but they have a 30 MBG, so gave it a try. This is, by far, the most accurate app/device combination I’ve used, to date. It truly dials in my training ability each morning, and adjusts after each workout. In just three weeks my Z-2 wattage has increased by 15%. Funny thing is, Z-2 HR can change depending on recovery. Following its recommendation on what that HR should be, is key to improved performance in the three modes of Recovery, Conditioning, and Overload. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Defacto the future of fitness training 5*

*2024-08-31, version 4.6.6*

Joel Jamieson has created the perfect tool for careful matching of your training loads and recovery. Stimulation <> Development <> Rebound. You should be planning for 6x week training sessions; stimulation not annihilation! As of July 2024, the M7 chest strap is on back order. Despite this, my Polar H10 seamlessly works on this App but I cannot yet use the Heart Rate Variability morning testing. As a Chartered Physiotherapist advising patients at all levels of fitness, this is a game changer. 5* from me.

### 5/5 — Best app

*2024-07-17*

This app, the HR monitor, combined with customer service is second to none!

I’m only two weeks in but noticing a change already in how my body feels.

There’s a facebook group to gain extra knowledge and learn from others which helps tremendously!

### 5/5 — Unreal Service - Highly Recommended

*2024-06-15, version 4.5.0*

Personalized service from a director level employee. Very timely and attentive to a special request. Can’t wait to get my M7!

### 5/5 — Formidable système

*2024-03-27*
