### 4/5 — Some bugs

*2025-09-17, version 2.0.1*

Retrying a level can actually ADD an entirely new letter. A bug? Or at best, counterintuitive.

### 3/5 — Meh

*2025-06-12, version 1.5.2*

Morse Mania is way better. This is passed off like a game but it's not game-like at all. Sound only works if your 73phone is not in silent mode. Morse Mania has WAY more features and is way more tunable to meet your learning goals. I found the Morse sounds on this app far harder to discern than on Morse Mania, which isn't necessarily a strike against it since you'll never hear noise-free Morse code on your HF rig either. However, on Morse Mania I can enable and control background noise to make it harder if I want. In general, if you're only buying one Morse app or buying your first, I suggest starting with Morse Mania. 73s, KF4DBD

### 4/5 — Super useful, needs a tweak

*2023-04-22*

Love this app. The only nitpick I have is that you can’t tell how far you got and go back to where you left off last time. Sure, you can scroll down and pick the session, but there’s no indicator that says you were here last etc. This all is admittedly old but it would be super if this could be fixed.

### 4/5 — Great Concept

*2023-02-01, version 1.5.2*

Great and I think it’s great. But, challenge 2 keeps on glitching. I press the correct letter yet nothing happens. It then lights up a letter at the other end of the keyboard that I didn’t touch.

### 4/5 — Good for learning alphabet

*2021-10-09*

This is a good app for learning the morse alphabet, but it’s not as good for instant character recognition.

A couple changes would make this app better. These are crutches that impede learning.

1. Ability to turn off the keyboard hints (dits and dahs). These are turned off in the challenges already.

2. Being able to turn off the replay of the sound. If you don’t immediately recognize the character, it would be better for learning to mark it wrong and move on to the next character.

Just a suggestion, it would be great to have free form leaning of the characters so that problem characters can be isolated and worked on.

I hope these suggestions help!

### 4/5 — Great App

*2021-10-05, version 1.5.2*

This app is great I used it to learn morse code and work with it several time a week to keep me sharp! It’s already worth a few bucks and would gladly purchase if they would add punctuation and such!

### 5/5 — Perfection

*2020-11-04, version 1.5.2*

Learned Morse code with this app like 4 years ago but got a little rusty
Learning it again and just wanted to tell y’all this is still the best thing out there, enjoy!

### 3/5 — Great game to learn morse...but needs more

*2020-08-23, version 1.5.2*

Very quick to learn morse but only letters and numbers. It REALLY needs to add punctuation and prosigns to be perfect. Another setting to increase speed would be valuable too.

I learned morse with this, then had to move onto other apps to complete the list of codes needed to communicate and improve speed of copy.

Go on, update it and make it worth the money!

### 3/5 — Not bad but need improvement

*2020-08-10*

The app is good but it needs improvement, it needs a way to remove the sound when you press the right letter it is annoying. And a way to custom the hard letters to learn so you can focus on them..

### 5/5 — Πολύ καλό πρόγραμμα για την εκμάθηση του μορσικού κώδικα

*2020-07-26, version 1.5.2*

Πολύ καλό με σταδιακή αύξηση στην δυσκολία

### 4/5 — Like the app, not the process

*2019-11-18, version 1.5.2*

MorseToad has the right idea. Start you learning Morse at the speed it’s sent without having you focus on the dots and dashes. It helps you build sound recognition skills. The ONLY reason this doesn’t get 5 stars is that you apparently have to complete the entire alphabet in one sitting. Get all the way to W and U and need to take a break? Shazam, you’re back at square one. While I understand that there is a reason for this, it is very frustrating for a busy adult who doesn’t have time to sit and play for two hours at a time. 10 minutes practice every day is better than a hour once a week. This program doesn’t accommodate that. Yet, even with this inherent limitation it is still the best app for learning what Morse sounds like. Combined with Bravo for learning to send, it has helped me a great deal. AD0DQ

### 4/5 — Just needs a few tweaks to be awesome

*2019-07-24*

I like so far. I would love to see some enhancements to this app. I would like to see a progress tracker and a way to work a bit more on the individual letters I am struggling with. Right now you have to back track and work on the ones you are solid on to get to the problem one. If something was added where you could listen and drill on individual letters I feel the ear training would pick up even more. Then you could jump back into the regular drills to march on.

### 5/5 — Beginner Morse coder

*2019-07-02, version 1.5.2*

I’m impressed with the simplicity of suggesting listening to patterns at speed rather than counting dits and dahs. I’m confident that I will learn code quick with this fun educational game.

### 5/5 — Awesome, helpful, and fun

*2019-04-23, version 1.5.2*

This app design is very straightforward and to the point, easy to learn, and also very fun. One of my favorite apps.

### 4/5 — Landscape mode

*2019-03-10*

I really like this app I just wish that the developer would add landscape mode which would be especially nice on the iPad.
That’s the only reason why I am giving it four stars rather than five because I just wish it would go into landscape mode.

### 5/5 — Great and Unique!

*2019-01-22, version 1.5.2*

I learned Morse Code within a week with this app. The levels incentivize learning and starting off at full speed helps you really get it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-11-30, version 2.0.1*

Doesn’t work on an IPhone 12. Tried out the first lecture and couldn’t press any of the letters except 2. What a waste of money. Don’t buy.

### 1/5 — No sound

*2023-06-02, version 1.5.2*

I bought this app to learn Morse code but there were no sound and very disappointed.

### 1/5 — Useless do not buy!

*2020-04-03, version 1.5.2*

So many other apps that are free and tons better! This is a waste

### 1/5 — Horrible for learning

*2018-12-23, version 1.5.2*

I got this to learn Morse code, but there are no settings to adjust the speed and the dash length, which is supposed to be 3x the length of the dots, but they were so similar that it was difficult, if not impossible, to tell the difference. I want my payment refunded, total waste of time and money.

### 1/5 — Das Geld nicht wert.

*2018-11-23, version 1.5.2*

Also: Finger weg davon!

### 1/5 — Poorly put together. Should be a one dollar app at most.

*2018-11-08*

No instructions and no hints. If you don’t have a bit of Morse already then you should avoid this and even then it is not very usefull.

### 2/5 — Key Problems

*2021-02-08, version 1.5.2*

Something is wrong when S is isntroduced. Even using a large iOS device, the keyboard will activate the incorrect key when it borders the one you select. Either the keys’ activation boxes are too close together or there is some kind of a bug. Tested this multiple times with fingers and a stylus.

Too bad, would have been a great app.

### 2/5 — Needs a patch

*2018-03-04*

Great program but does not go past about 10 lessons. Would give it 4 stars if all worked well. Giving it a 2 until fix is made and tried. Contacted author and he stated a patch has it will be given to Apple. Have not seen anything yet.

Would suggest getting rid of the chime doubt after each correct answer. Very annoying. Would also recommend some way to bookmark where you left off. Every time I started app it took me back to the beginning.

### 2/5 — Excellent concept hobbled by a single poor design choice

*2017-04-10, version 1.1*

Speed not adjustable and default is quite fast. It might be appropriate for intermediate practice but this is for new learners, not sharpening or maintaining skill.

This flaw also makes certain letters, to beginner ears, almost indistinguishable.

How hard would it be to add a variable speed slider? Not very. Seems like a decision to omit one rather than oversight and the result is an unnecessarily intimidating learning app.

If this were fixed, it would be, hands-down, the best iOS Morse tutor by a country mile.

Tech issues: No audio on iPhone 5s running iOS 10.3.1 (14E304). Works fine on iPad Mini 2 w/Retina display running same iOS version (14E304).

### 2/5 — Needs work

*2017-02-17*

I like the concept but if started learning with this app I would have quit. No customization with the tone and no ability to change the words per minute, not everyone is capable of learning at something like 25 or 30 wpm. Please let us turn off the annoying sound if you get it the letter correct. The absolute worst and maybe it's just me, but there is something the way g, r, k, and p are played that makes them really hard to tell apart. I know these letters and don't get them confused any other time.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fun and Challenging(for me)

*2025-12-05, version 2.0.1*

This app is a genuinely fun way to learn morse code that I’ve been doing as a game to challenge myself and learn. You learn morse code at full speed, it initially shows you the letters and the code, then takes the code away in challenges where you have to memorize what combination of sounds go with which letter. In between sections it tells you history and facts about morse code. I appreciate this app having been made.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-12-03, version 2.0.1*

I love this app sm it really makes you learn in a fun way

### 5/5 — Best Morse Code App

### 5/5 — Glad this app is back

*2025-08-18, version 2.0.1*

Thank you for remastering the app. One of my favorite for Morse code practice.

### 5/5 — WOW -- so stoked for this update!

*2025-07-28, version 2.0.1*

I have an iPod touch that I've resisted wiping because I didn't want to lose this app! This is hands down the best app for learning Morse Code. Fun, to the point, good staggering of introducing new letters/numbers, and no data collected on you. Love it, glad to see it's back

### 5/5 — Welcome Back.

*2025-06-12*

I am sooooo happy to see this back in the Apple App Store. I don’t know how long it was gone. The app disappeared from my phone after an iOS update. And I could not find it in the App Store for quite some time. I used to play this game every day waiting in the car line to pick up the kids from school. I had really gotten rusty at Morse without it

### 5/5 — Fun way to learn Morse Code

*2025-05-30, version 1.5.2*

Glad to see that this app is still available. I found it’s a more fun and engaging way to learn Morse code. Great work!

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2022-09-30, version 1.5.2*

I love this app pit of so many it is the only one that can teach you in a short amount of time and still be fun amazing!!! 10/10

### 5/5 — First paid app I didn’t regret.

*2021-09-19, version 1.5.2*

I’ve been trying off and on for years to learn Morse code. Have tried many different ways and programs. This is the one that made it click. I’d say I have a comfortable working knowledge after only one day. Bravo.
