I use it when people try to ragchew with me and it freezes from time to time. I’m using it on an iPhone 14with lots of storage and I remove apps from memory when I’m not using. The app freezes not because of the device or lack of memory, it freezes because of a stack overflow. I couldn’t find better decoder app on iOS yet. ### 2/5 — not very robust *2023-01-10* This app is not very robust to imperfect audio. Frequently decodes things as E's and I's. If you are in a quiet room with absolutely perfect code coming out of the speaker it might be pretty reliable. For a person with an oscillator and practice key this probably won't work well. Better to find a friend to practice with. ### 5/5 — Hot paw CW decoder *2019-01-01, version 2.5.3* Certainly one of the best things I’ve ever bought for $10. Put it next to the speaker and if somebody is sending reasonable code it translates it just fine. Sure if somebody is a terrible sender Then it can mess up, but that’s the same for me when I try to write it down. For me, the added benefit is that I’m trying to learn code by ear and I get most of it by ear and I can just look at the iPhone for a little help. Also, on my radio I have to Set the frequency offset by ear and now I can just look at the exact sending tone frequency on the screen and match the receiving frequency perfectly. And it’s also a good check of what message I’ve sent ### 5/5 — Works like a charm *2018-10-03, version 2.5.3* I got this for Battlefield 1 Easter eggs. Most of their Easter eggs require translating Morse code. The process was so tedious I had to find another way. This app was a godsend. You need to get rid of background noise as much as possible, but even then, it will auto-adapt and start to produce the proper translation. It gave me what I needed every time. It was well worth the purchase. I was able to complete three of the Morse Easter eggs in one night. ### 1/5 — No work *2018-09-09* No matter what settings I use on my iPhone X it will not work. I even used a known recording that was clear with no background noise and still only pick up a couple letters rest was trash needs updated for new phones wasted my $10 ### 5/5 — Works great if you set it right. *2018-09-01* I have a Yaesu ft 857. I hav to change my receiver to 700hz or the iPhone WILL NOT hear the CW. I also find it useful to set the manual speed a little above the current words per minute. A person can spend his whole life developing a CW decoder and it will never work like what’s in between your ears. It really has a hard time decoding sloppy straight keys but extremely well with iambic decoding. It decodes straight key practice oscillator with precision sending. Most people use paddles or sticks anyway. This app is great for backup when I’m focused on a letter and now 14 letters behind and can jut glance over to catch up again. Apps absolutely worth the money. Maybe not the big app but this one is great. I’m extremely happy. Waaaay cheaper then a decoder on $15k radio that barely works and some commercial one that works poorly too. You shouldn’t regret it, (use manual settings) I don’t! ### 5/5 — You’ve tried the rest, now try the one that actually works *2018-08-01* I tried a lot of the free and cheap CW decoder apps, but nothing worked or worked reliably. I bit the bullet on this $10 purchase and I’m glad I did. I placed this next to a 60-meter radio with a poor signal, and this decoded the signal almost perfectly. 73, HotPaw! The in-app documentation is a wall of text, but it’s easy enough to figure out on the fly. ### 5/5 — Battlefield 1 console users need this *2018-07-05, version 2.5.3* I hated trying to import my Morse code to the computer. It took way to long. This made my life so much easier. The oscillator output is hardwired to a Bluetooth speaker from great wall mart of China. The Bluetooth speaker must have an input jack. That is my set up to practice sending. This app does a very good job of helping you practice good sending. I did turn on the Nero filter. I also followed the directions to adjust the kilohertz tone of the speaker output manually. ### 5/5 — It works! *2020-12-06, version 2.5.4* I took a risk buying this app to use it to solve the Morse cyphers on Battlefield One, and it works! I was using it for the bf1 easter eggs but my results came out complete gibberish I was mad because I was like did I really just spent $10 on a app that doesn’t even work!? It turns out it wasn’t the app it was that stupid extremely loud background noise in the game that was ruining it. So for bf1 players out there to make the background noise a lot more quiet is by settings> audio> sound preset> war tapes then the app should perfectly decode your morse code message. Good luck! PS: Remember to blast your TV volume when decoding the message @(・●・)@ ### 5/5 — Perfect *2019-02-01, version 2.5.3* Works perfect, got it went right to 40m, found some clear code, didn’t miss a letter, ran W1AW at multiple speeds, perfect copy. Found a QSO in the noise @ 25 wpm, got 1 e. Found a station way in the noise at 35 WPM, per HRD, that’s when I got quite a few missed characters. But head copying I’d have gone right past it, way into the noise and very faint, it did great in my opinion. That is all without touching the settings. My first regret, is spending far more money on other decoders that I THOUGHT were good till I heard this one, second regret is that I was to apprehensive to buy the pro version, wish I had spent ten more and got it now.
