## What is Motarva?

Motarva is the motorcycle route platform built by riders, for riders.

Find roads worth riding. Browse a community library of motorcycle routes with photos, distance, curviness and elevation gain, or search by route, region and country. Every route is shared by a rider.

FREE, AND STAYING THAT WAY
- Browse and download every public route
- Look around without an account
- Plan from A to B in Explore and see the routes that take you there
- Ride any community route turn by turn, with voice guidance
- Export to GPX, TCX, FIT or ITN for almost any sat-nav
- Draw your own route on the map
- Record a ride with GPS and save it as a route
- Upload a GPX, TCX, FIT or ITN file and share it with the community
- Favourites, collections, completions, XP, badges and the leaderboard

Navigation is built for riding: a day mode that stays readable in direct sunlight, and roadbook mode, which swaps the map for a rally-style strip of the turns ahead.

MOTARVA PRO
Pro is for riding on the fly, when you have not planned anything. Point anywhere on the map and navigate straight there, or have Motarva build a curvy route around you: say how twisty you want it and whether it should loop back.
Pro also brings group rides, where you share a live session with the riders you're out with and see each other on the map, offline maps for riding without signal, and no partner listings on the map.

ALSO ON MOTARVA.COM
The same account works on the website, where Route Maker lets you draw routes on a big screen, with snap to roads, A to B or loops.

MADE IN BELGIUM, INDEPENDENT
Motarva is a solo project, not a venture-backed startup. No tracking pixels, no third-party analytics. Partner pins are paid listings and always marked; Motarva Pro hides them. Maps come from OpenStreetMap contributors.

A NOTE ON ROUTES
Routes are uploaded by riders and are not checked or approved by us. Conditions change, roads close and surfaces vary. Ride within your limits and your own judgement.

Sponsored business pins are paid listings, clearly marked as such. They are not recommendations.

XP, badges and leaderboard positions are for fun. They have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for anything.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.1 — 2026-10-31

New
• Road closed ahead? Mark it and Motarva plans a detour around it. The closed road is striped on the map and on the route strip, and a label tells you the detour is active.
• Explore has satellite and hybrid maps.
• Routes close together on Explore group into one bubble, like on the website. Tap it to zoom in, or open the list.
• A new app icon.

Turn by turn
• A thinner route line, so a road you ride twice stays readable. The part you have ridden turns a lighter orange.
• Turn arrows start at the roundabout itself, no longer appear on a hairpin of the same road, and no longer stack when the route sends you back the way you came.
• After you leave the route, the line joins up cleanly until the new route arrives.
• Your position on the map stays put when you stop.
• Road numbers with a slash are spoken in full.
• Turn arrows are now as thick as the route line.
• On mountain passes, the map zooms in closer so you see the hairpins ahead.

Better
• Large text sizes no longer break words in route titles.
• Without location, the map opens on your own country instead of Belgium.

### 2.0 — 2026-10-29

New
• Plan in Explore: say from where to where, and see the routes that take you there, on the map or as a list.
• Explore, redesigned: tap a route and its details open in a panel, with the route still on the map.
• Browse without an account. Sign in when you want to ride or save.
• Your badges, now in the app, including the ones that are almost yours.
• Places along the route, from fuel to viewpoints, on our own map style.
• Six bike types, and leaderboards for the world, your country and your region.
• Miles or kilometres: choose your units in Settings, or let the app follow your iPhone.
• A new 3D arrow for turn-by-turn, and bigger turn arrows on the route.
• Motarva Pro adds offline maps and shows no partner listings.

Turn by turn
• The route line ahead follows the road, also after a reroute.
• CarPlay keeps the map moving while your phone is locked.
• The distance to the next turn and the arrow keep pace with where you are.
• When you arrive, the map stays open.

Better
• Route details: a tidier header, with Add to collection and Ridden in the "…" menu.
• Swipe left to delete a route, an offline map or a favourite.
• A generated route opens in the Explore panel with Save in view, and saving closes the sheet.
• Collection covers follow dark mode, and Profile shows your app version.

### 1.5.3 — 2026-09-24

New
• Motarva Pro now comes as a monthly plan, next to the week and the year.
• The map on a route grows into full screen instead of opening a cover, and comes back where you left it.
• The leaderboard shows your own position, jumps to it in one tap, and goes past the first 50 riders.
• CarPlay: one menu button on the map, with the ride menu and Stop in the bar. Stop still asks before it ends your ride.
• Group rides are part of Motarva Pro.

Fixed
• Fuel stations on your route show up in the list again, instead of "no fuel stations on this route".
• Speed camera warnings no longer go quiet for the rest of a ride.
• A recorded ride survives the app being closed, with your kilometres.
• The map no longer goes black for a second when you come back to the app.
• The tab bar at the bottom follows light and dark like everything else.
• CarPlay: the icons in the ride menu are visible instead of black on black.
• The buttons in the ride menu travel with the panel as it opens, and they are rounder.
• The locate button on Navigate has its background back.
• Dragging a sheet scrolls the sheet, instead of dragging the map underneath it.
• Explore opens on routes instead of on empty cards.
• The counts on your profile sit on one grid, and Created no longer borrows the icon that means distance.
• A sponsored listing fits the screen it opens on.
• The tabs on a route animate with the rest of the page.
• A button no longer draws a second ring, and a panel header no longer shows two chevrons.
• The riding strip sits on the same plate as everything else, and the finish marker is no longer cut in half.
• Badges report the total instead of the page they fetched, and the leaderboard counts riders.
• Seven small buttons grew to a full touch target, and the locate button catches its whole circle.

Privacy
• Your profile no longer shows an e-mail address as a handle.
• Map telemetry is switched off before a map is ever created.

Your language
• The arrival time speaks Dutch, French and German.
• Voice guidance no longer announces the start in the middle of a ride.
• Deleting your account reads properly in Dutch and German, and French says route where the app says route.
• The trial badge no longer reads half in English.

### 1.5.2 — 2026-09-14

Navigation fixes, most of them from a weekend in the Eifel.

• Rerouting takes about a second now, not twelve. Miss a turn and the way back is already worked out.
• No more recalculations that send you back to a point you have already passed.
• Your route follows the road you drew, instead of cutting its own way through.
• The next turn counts down towards you instead of drifting away.
• Stop for coffee, start again, and it picks you up where you stood, even before the GPS is back.
• Speed cameras and fuel stops stay on the strip through a recalculation.
• New: a switch for full screen brightness in sunlight. Off by default, so the app leaves your brightness alone unless you ask.
• Pick a route on the car screen. Your own routes are in the CarPlay list now, and tapping one starts the ride at the closest point.
• Road closed? Mark it and the route is replanned around the closure. If there is no way around, the app says so instead of pretending.

Smaller things too: the "back to start" row in a round trip is tappable, loading lists keep the shape of the list they become, and your garage no longer offers a bike type you cannot pick.

Also fixed: the ride kind title on the plan card opens the picker just like the arrow beside it, the picker looks the same whether you open it first or come back to it, and the security rows in Settings now speak your language.

### 1.5 — 2026-09-05

Ride Together now has signals. Need fuel, want a break, slowing down, stopped: one tap tells your group, their phones say it out loud, and one tap back confirms it. Write your own short messages before the ride and send them the same way, on CarPlay too.

A strip along the edge of the navigation screen shows what is ahead: fuel stops and the finish, on an axis you can read at a glance. Fuel stations appear on the map while you navigate, on the phone and in the car. The voice tells you how far is left, in your language.

Collections: group routes into a trip or a wish list, straight from any route card. My Routes is one place now: created, favorites, ridden and collections, with search, sort and multi-select. Your own routes can be edited, published and deleted from the app. The list in Explore shows the whole catalog, with your filters and sort carried through.

Every map pin has a new look, the roads under your route stand out, the map camera glides instead of stepping, and Home has articles in your own language. Plus a long list of smaller fixes.
