I’ve added my new babies and am finding everything pretty explanatory. I have one problem. I had a chick die and it did let me put that in the history but it not take her out of my flock. I wish I could keep her info in the app so remember my notes, but I wish it Took her out of My Flock number. If I’m missing something, could someone fill me in please? ### 4/5 — Almost perfect! *2024-12-23* First off I really enjoy this app - it’s really cheap and works well for the price point. A tutorial would be nice as some feature took me a second to figure out but overall easy to use. The only thing I have any issues with is my graph will only display roughly a week and a half or so and not the entire log of egg records. A small complaint but I’d love to be able to see the whole visualization of the graph from furthest back to current. ### 4/5 — Update? *2024-01-14, version 1.1.1* Hello! I absolutely love the Mother Hen app. I’ve been using it for about 4 years now. There are a couple things I wish were a little different, would you ever entertain suggestions for an update? The first thought I had was to add a color wheel so you could pick your own color for eggs. The other thought off the top of my head was to have a crop option when uploading photos, because unless it’s the exact shape there are borders. Not a deal breaker, but for aesthetic reasons it would look better. Thank you for reading! I recently added 12 chicks from the same lineage and with a one or two day difference on hatch - I could easily change the individual dates that weren’t in the main median date but having to go thru 12 individual records to add the same lineage is time consuming. Yes, first world problem. Helps me keep track of my 100+ birds. I do wish when you add new birds adding a hatch date would be an option too. When you add 30 to your flock at a time it is a pain to go in and add individual hatch date for each bird. ### 4/5 — Pretty good *2022-08-25* I have a flock of about 50 chickens. I like the app, if I could change or add anything. It would be to be able to log an entry for multiple chickens at once or your whole flock. For example, my chickens are all receiving medication for 5 days. I had to go in to each chickens profile and individually add their medication treatment. Took over an hour. If the whole flock or multiple chickens are receiving same thing. It would be so much nicer to be able to mass add them. And a spot to add their feather/coat color. For instance my ameraucana are in multiple different colors. Even with pics it would be nice to have a list to pick from. For now I’m typing into the notes tab on bottom. Or a spot for band # to be typed in close to chickens name. Rather then just the band color. It would be perfect with those changes! ### 4/5 — Worth the cost! *2021-02-17* With a flock of 80+ chickens for egg and chick sales this app is pretty much perfect!! I researched all the other free ones and this one is hands down the easiest to use without a bunch of fuss. My only wish is that I could delete pics! Or even just rearrange them?? When playing around with the app I added a “baby” pic of a rooster then took a new one recently of him grown but the original pic that shows in the flock list is of him as the baby and while silly, it drives me NUTS because he looks like any other chick. I’ve got my 2021 chicks hatching that I REALLY want to upload pictures of to the app so I can tell them apart, especially my show breeds that come in various colors, but I don’t want that to be the only pic that will pop up on flock list is a bunch of chick pics that look the same. Yes I should know them by name... but with 100+ now with the new chicks I’m not that creative to name them all 😂 **Developer response:** Glad to hear you like it so well! I have a fun tip for you: If you press and hold on a picture, you can then choose to delete it or make it the main picture. Now you can update your pictures whenever you’d like. ### 3/5 — Almost perfect! But.... *2021-01-05, version 1.1.1* I would love to see hatching options and a way to blend that into finance. If I buy hatching eggs for $20 what would I sell the chicks for after food and everything. Also a way to track the hatches. If you had that this app would have a millions stars and be the best. Now I’m using two apps. ### 4/5 — Handy and easy but only single user input *2020-10-17* Great way to track your flocks feed, breed, egg, and overall life history. Only reason I’m not rating a 5 is I can’t share the app data with my family so they can’t help collect data. I also can’t sort my poultry type (chicken vs quail vs Turkey, etc) Hoping this is updated ASAP as I’m already missing data due to our flock size and number of people caring for them. Also being able to sort by egg color would be nice. ### 4/5 — So close to perfect! *2020-06-21, version 1.1.1* If you implement some of the user requests here and add hatching to it, it would be beyond perfect! Tracking of hatches like Hatchabatch used to be or ihatch-chickens chickens would be amazing and a one stop app for a majority of us poultry people. I never go there and the only way to use the app than is to shut down the iPad. And even then it won’t work half the time. Ive updated my phone every year with no issues. Today I updated my phone and I lost everything I have had stored in this app since I started using it. There is no account option so no way to back up and restore anything that had been placed in the app. I love using this app but it would be nice to have a account feature or a way to have everything backed up so this doesn't happen again to me or anybody else. ### 2/5 — Frustrating! *2021-06-14, version 1.1.1* I have downloaded and attempted to use this app multiple times. I have zero idea why this keeps happening, but my photos aren’t allowed to be edited; birds are disappearing from the flock list, etc. I am a small hatchery starting out and would really love for this to work. ### 2/5 — Update not working well *2019-03-23, version 1.1.1* I loved this App last year but since the last update 2 months ago, the app doesn’t work correctly. I also don’t have access to the graph. The egg harvest doesn’t work right. I have to switch back and forth between harvest meat and egg to change egg color and amount collected. Used to be great, but now I wouldn’t pay for it. ### 2/5 — Egg Count *2018-09-04, version 1.1.0* I love the app! Only gave 2 stars due to the egg count being off. Yesterday I added my eggs and my number was at 367. Today I added my eggs and hit harvest and it’s saying I’m at 358. Not sure what happened. I’m using another app alongside this one just to keep an accurate count until this issue is hopefully fixed. I would give it five stars but there is sooooo many missing duck breeds that it drives me crazy!!!! Please add Muscovy ducks! I love the simplicity of it. I can’t find another one that tracks eggs and feed costs as easily as this one. I like that I don’t have to name each chicken or create a flock. Just simple add your feed add your eggs or meat and it calculates it all up for you. ### 5/5 — The best app for chicken lovers 🤍 *2024-11-19* Absolutely love this app! The best backyard chicken app I’ve ever used. The only thing I’d improve on is the family tree graph, (so you can see both parents on the graph and not just one at a time). We love using this to keep track of all our chickens and hatches, and I love that you can add multiple photos to see all the different stages of your babies growing up!! 10/10! ### 5/5 — Great tracking for my business! *2024-03-03* I love this app and have used it for years to track egg production. Lately Ive gotten more on top of adding finance day at here and it makes such a good analysis of egg production as an enterprise on my farm. If I had two wishes, they’d be: 1. To be able to have custom date ranges to view finances page so I can refer back to historical data. Ie a different year. 2. That the graph from the harvest screen would show over all time so I can once again scroll and compare data from different years or seasons. At least, I can export and make my own charts but I’d love if it was right there! Thank you for this app💖💖 ### 5/5 — Fills the bill! *2023-04-18* This is a tremendous help with my flock. I would pay more tor all this does! Things I would dream of adding would be: First, a place to record egg orders for later as I can only come in and record them after I sell them. Second, a way to separate out say the meat birds and the egg layers or maybe the chickens and the turkeys so that we can see cost/feed data separate. ### 5/5 — Very handy app *2023-01-21* I really like this app. It makes managing my small flock easy. The accounting part is great for tracking sales and expenses, although I have not found a way to actually edit expenses or delete a wrong entry. The only thing missing is a chart like flockplenty has. Otherwise I love this app, good work. ### 5/5 — Amazing Poultry App!!! *2022-08-14* I was looking for something just like this to keep track of my flock. The app is easy to use and has just the right features to keep track of the most important care information needed to assure the house is being properly cared for. I love the photo feature and option to name each fowl with a numbering system and name if wanted. I also love that additional breeds can be added. Perhaps in future updates these features could be added to address individual fowl: Illness with Date Schedule Veterinarian Schedule Immunizations and Supplements List Banding Labels or ID Marks Temperament Housing Location (for more than one hen and rooster pen) Marking for Feeding Types (Free Range, Feed, Scraps, Treats) I know this is a lot of extras, but I would be willing to pay much more for an app with these additional features, and I would like it to be this app as this is the best one I have found so far for keeping my flock organized and healthy. Thank you so much for deleting your wife’s former app and creating a new one! This one gets an AAA+++ from this Grams, a long time farmer and historic Appalachian. ### 5/5 — Love this app! *2021-02-03* Love so many things about this app! We have a small-ish flock of about 35 chickens, with about 14 of them laying so far. I’m able to recognize which hen laid by their eggs thus far, so I like being able to log eggs by hen. This app allows for that. I love being able to log an egg by egg color if I’m unsure which hen laid it. I love that I’m able to add breeds that aren’t listed very easily. However, it’s especially convenient that you have preloaded breed specific information on the breeds preloaded. Being able to log expenses is really beneficial. There are a couple things that I found that I wish were a bit different. I haven’t found a way to see a calendar with daily and weekly egg totals. I’ve only been using the app a couple days so it may be there? Also, I would love to be able to see my bird’s age somewhere. I can enter the hatch date and of course I could go back and add the weeks or months, but with my flock being less than a year old it would be nice if the age showed somewhere. Take my brahmas for instance. I know they hatched in September of 2020. I’d like to be able to click on that bird and see they are 4 months and 3 weeks old, or 20 weeks old, etc. not a big issue, just something I’ve wished my tracking apps had available. Update: Thank you to the developer for their quick response! I found the “+” sign and was able to add my frizzles to my flock!! Super easy! ### 5/5 — Love This App - 1 suggestion *2020-05-16* I love using this app. I have a small hobby flock and like to see what the actual costs are and track my girls individual egg production (they all lay different colors and in different places). I was wondering though, would it be possible to get weekly averages of the total #of eggs laid over a month or year’s time? It would be nice to see production trends at a glance.
