### 5/5 — A Warden’s Dream

*2024-11-21, version 3.1.7*

This latest update turns an already useful app into something more than I could have hoped for. As a Warden this is now the only tool I’ll need to run this game. Well-designed and easy to use for the whole table.

### 5/5 — Excellent companion app

*2024-11-21, version 3.1.7*

This is such a great little companion app for the Morhership TTRPG. Absolutely worth the few bucks for the pro versions and upgrades. The new VTT tools are great.

### 5/5 — Must have

*2024-11-21, version 3.1.7*

Makes running a breeze and lowers the barrier for players. With the new update, it makes it even more a one stop shop for Wardens and Players alike!

### 5/5 — Great resource for Mothership players and Wardens

*2024-11-21, version 3.1.7*

Simple and effective app great for players to quickly get up and running. The new VTT tools are awesome and the developer is quick and responsive feedback and issues.

### 5/5 — Impressive companion to the game.

*2024-11-21, version 3.1.7*

Feature full; ongoing, community-active development; on-brand visually/thematically.

Excellent free resource for people just dipping their toes in the system.

Well worth the price for upgrades for anyone that is going to play Mothership regularly.

### 5/5 — First class solution

*2024-11-19, version 3.1.7*

Great solution for a digital tool for a rules light game like Mothership! The VTT is innovative and flexible, character creation and management just makes sense, and overall is a great companion to the physical game.

### 5/5 — My Players LOVED This

*2024-11-03, version 2.0.6*

Made onboarding D&D heads super easy. Gold standard for the indie ROG industry.

### 5/5 — Works amazingly, slight tweaks wanted

*2024-08-09, version 2.0.6*

The app works amazingly, allowing creation of items and easy characters. A godsend to those wanting to learn how to play the game allowing for a quick introduction instead of introducing paperwork first. Although I am finding some issue in editing items such as changing a damage type for weapons or adding a damage type for custom weapons. For example if I change the pulse rifle’s damage type from 3d10 to 2d10 it will still show 3d10 on its bubble but when opening the customize menu again it shows 2d10, or if I create a weapon and add 1d10 damage it won’t show any damage but does the same as the pulse rifle showing it in the customize ui. Not too big an issue as the rest works spectacularly and is definitely a go to for my group now.

### 5/5 — Will there be an iPad version?

*2024-05-25, version 1.7.3*

I’ll keep it short and sweet: I love this app. The UI is clean and the app is easy to use. My only want is an iPad version.

### 4/5 — No notes? Really?

*2024-05-09, version 1.7.3*

Super easy to create characters and do the normal play stuff. But seriously, no area for notes?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Great app, lagging behind

*2026-08-11, version 4.8.4*

The app and VTT are great, but the app is behind on the iOS/Android versions which means VTT is inaccessible.

### 1/5 — In app purchases DO NOT WORK!

*2025-08-20, version 4.5.1*

Emailed support. No reply. Tried creating an account (that I didn’t really want) but still no in app purchases. Restarted the app multiple times.

### 1/5 — Great app, nonsense aside

*2025-05-04, version 4.2.16*

The app is great. But I’m not keeping it, nor giving the RPG a chance. If it’s mandatory to put pronouns in my character and have it in front of my face, then I’m not really here for it.
Literally less than 1% of the population actually cares about pronouns.

### 1/5 — Outrageous Pricing

*2025-01-05, version 3.2.1*

I paid a hundred bucks for the Deluxe Set, and now they’re seriously charging extra for features like dark mode? That’s just plain outrageous.

### 2/5 — VTT is disappointing

*2026-03-29, version 4.9.0*

I bought the fifteen dollar VTT after watching the video that suggested first party maps would be included. They aren’t. The process to get them is to go ask one guy on the discord for individual codes. It’s beyond dumb.

### 2/5 — Not great if you need accessibility

*2025-04-17, version 4.2.11*

I really love the game Mothership but this app is kind of terrible for me as a mostly blind player. The elements are out of order, many buttons aren't labelled, the color scheme is actually painful to try and look at, and they want money for the basic accessibility feature of dark mode. I had considered paying but not when something as user necessary as dark mode is being shut behind a paywall. Deleting this and hoping I can find an accessible app to play the game with.

### 3/5 — $4 to use an accessibility feature?

*2024-09-19, version 2.0.6*

Got this app to make a character- it works great! I like it! It’s very smooth, very easy to follow, but… seriously? Locking Dark Mode behind a four dollar paywall? I’m visually impaired and use Dark Mode on apps and websites to keep from excessive eye strain, and seeing that a very common accessibility feature is locked behind that really rubs me the wrong way. I’d like to use the app, and $4 isn’t a lot in the long run, but jeeze. I shouldn’t have to pay for basic accessibility features.

### 3/5 — Use on iPad - long items will not scroll

*2024-07-20, version 2.0.4*

If you would like to outfit yourself with an item attempts to buy it will have issues. Longer descriptions like Vacsuit do not have the ability scroll so the ability to buy the item or even close the item to return back to the selection screen cannot be accomplished. Your only choice is to force close the program and reopen it. On the equipment purchase screen that has + and - for selecting an amount of items to be bought, the + symbol is off the selectable screen so it can’t be used to increase number size above 0. The zoom in or out button does nothing to change these problems.

### 4/5 — Incredibly Useful

*2024-06-20, version 2.0.2*

Great app, the character creation tool is fantastic it would be great if I didn’t have to specify a pronoun in order to finish creating the character though. Otherwise, wonderful!

### 4/5 — Good, but needs some Q.O.L.

*2024-06-06, version 1.7.3*

A great companion app for players to build a character and handle rolls, with a clean and attractive interface.

Could be improved with greater ability to edit or rename equipment, remove/add/edit trinkets and patches, stat out pets, , manage ammunition better, those sorts of a little quality of life things.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Access to purchased modules, maps, creatures, or NPC’s?

*2025-12-17, version 4.7.1*

The app is awesome and I really do appreciate what Tuesday Knight Games is doing making the mobile app a easy to use resource for both wardens and players. However, since the desk top web version is out and I’m planning on getting some of the official modules like dead planet, pound of flesh, etc.

Will I have to pay again or take the time rebuilding maps for my players both in person and online? Or is there a way to port maps into the app for my players to see on screen??? Once again hope to hear back from the Mothership team soon and thank you for creating an RPG system that is fun, easy for all who play to learn, and terrifying to try surviving in.

### 5/5 — The Bar by Which All Other TTRPG Apps Should be Measured

*2025-05-08, version 4.2.16*

This app is well made and genius in its implementation. It's simple but fully-featured as a character manager alone, but the addition of a ship manager, a dice roller, a map creator, and a VTT really set it above the rest. All features work well on desktop and mobile devices, and the controls are intuitive and easy to use, both for play and for mapmaking. The addition of more polyhedral dice to support rules that third party content introduce (d6 for example) would be a boon.

### 5/5 — I wish I could setup custom server

*2025-03-31, version 4.2.1*

Basically, to setup a game where only local network is available

### 5/5 — Total Home Run

*2024-12-03*

I’m a skeptic when it comes to apps-for-tabletop games. So many seem like the result of a checkbox labeled “app for game?” on some marketer’s to-do list. So it is with both great relief & true appreciation that I can report the Mothership Companion app is an absolute home run. It gets everything right. It’s truly useful for play but somehow manages to maintain the tabletop aesthetic. It feels at home either in remote play or at a table cluttered with pencils, paper, and dice. The tiered/component pricing feels like an excellent way to handle offering a free version with value-added extras. Development is continuous and significant. You can export characters and print them! There is a VTT! Stop reading, get the app, and play!

### 5/5 — A Home Run

Listen: I’m a huge skeptic when it comes to apps-for-tabletop games. So many seem like the result of a checkbox labeled “app for game?” on some marketer’s to-do list. ### 5/5 — Outstanding.

*2024-12-02, version 3.1.24*

Elegant, super functional, and regularly gets big, meaty updates. Gives you everything you need to play in the free version. The (paid) map editor and vtt is robust and streamlined. Haven't run a game with it yet, but setting up and joining sessions is SO EASY. Absolutely nailed the aesthetic.

### 5/5 — Great app for mothership

*2024-11-28, version 3.1.24*

Really nice app, useful to wardens to quickly prep characters for in person play as well due to export pdf function

Neat and useful helper for online and in person play for both wardens and players alike

### 5/5 — Truly great

*2024-11-24, version 3.1.11*

This app rules, and each feature added only makes it better. The developer is super engaged with the users and gives their thoughts/intent behind each feature as well as taking feedback. The recent updates have taken it from a handy tool for managing all your characters and ships to a full blown vtt with map maker. My group is all remote and usually do voice/video only but this was a perfect addition as we didn’t have to set anything extra up.

### 5/5 — Great stuff

*2024-11-22, version 3.1.7*

Lotta great stuff here! Helps you do the math for character building, has dope portraits to help visualize people, and takes out lots of the legwork for shopping. Honestly, the shopping math alone is one of the most difficult things of ttrpg’s, so I’m stoked this app helps us out with that :)

### 5/5 — It’s everything but the book!

*2024-11-22, version 3.1.7*

After the latest update, the iPad layout uses screen space to the fullest. Having one app that runs a character sheet, all your dice rolls, and a VTT is wildly accommodating. It works great sitting in the same room or remotely, and best of all, the players get to experience it for free in game sessions. All upgrades are worth every penny for a warden. Devs are very engaged and it shows.
