It has good features and is fairly intuitive. Book printing and binding are durable with deep colors and many print font options. ### 3/5 — Drop in quality *2025-11-16, version 4.9.2* After many great photo books from Mimeo, the latest book was a bit of a disappointment. No glossy cover sleeve, thick pages and duller prints. Another thing I couldn’t do this time is personalise the calendar with important dates like wedding anniversary. ### 2/5 — App purposely made to crash on Mac? *2024-12-16, version 4.9.1* I have been using motif ever since apple stopped being the printing agent for its photos (Aparature) projects. I moved over to Motif since it was said that they were the actual print shop for Apple anyways. So it has been a long journey for me with how experience with Motif has changed over time. The moment Mimeo bought the company a few years ago I noticed that the paper quality ant print slightly degraded. On top of that the Photos plugin for Mac freezes every few minutes. The task of completing a photo book became so unbearable that I tried something else. Wasn’t sure if it was my computer or the app itself I switched from my favorite intel iMac to m3pro MacBook Pro and had the same experience so it is the plugin. Installed their Mimo app and it worked flawlessly on my iMac. Ordered through the mimo app and my album wasn’t perfectly made like Motif ideas to do. The paper was cut at a slight angle and it shows on the inside of the back cover. Regrettably Mimeo didn’t hold up to the promise that Motif used to. ### 4/5 — Delivery at 22$!! Wow how to stealing your money! *2024-11-30, version 4.9.1* Delivery is to expensive! 22$ plus the 34$ calender. 60$ total . After you pass 8 hours working on it they steal your money with telling you before the going to charge for shipping. If you change anything, you have to always go back to the beginning of your photo library. When I first logged in, it gave me a promo code but didn’t save it anywhere so by the time I finished the project, I had forgotten it. ### 3/5 — App and OS version don’t work together. *2024-02-19, version 4.5.4* I used motif before mimeo bought it and loved it. However, this year, I just spent hours building a photobook for my husband’s 60th birthday and the purchase process has failed five times…gets stuck uploading. I’m on solid internet and have been in chat with support three times since I started this project. If you create a book in the mobile app, you can’t open it on your MacBook in iPhoto. The app and the MacBook are separate and don’t talk to each other. Apparently my photobook on my phone is too big to upload and it has failed five times the mimeo help just says “we value your feedback”. It appears that they have a few kinks to work out. I will not use Motif again and recommend that others use caution. Update - changed from 1 to 3 stars. I was able to process the order from my iPad, it arrived earlier than expected and is beautiful. However the mobile app and the OS app are not compatible, you can’t go back and forth between mobile device and laptop. ### 4/5 — Great app - checkout could be improved *2023-12-10, version 4.5.3* Really easy to add images and create a calendar, layout options are really good and dragging/dropping images to swap picture order around works a treat. Only thing I’d improve is the checkout experience. The app doesn’t support Apple Pay, and the credit card number field isn’t recognised as such, so you can’t even autofill in your saved card details. Apart from that, it’s a great app that lets you create and order a high quality product. ### 3/5 — Expensive *2023-12-03, version 4.5.3* You said I could get 25% off but did not mention this did not include £10.00 delivery. I don’t like tricks like this and so will not use you again ### 3/5 — Good alternative *2023-11-30, version 4.5.3* Since apple’s elimination of the in-app photo book creation feature, Mimeo has been a good alternative. However, after having made several projects throughout the years, Mimeo discontinued my account without notifying me, making it almost impossible to purchase projects that I created 😢. (Note: can’t buy your projects without an account: no buy as guest option). In addition, I encountered issues accessing photos saved to my iPhone (using 14 Pro Max), but found work arounds to resolve this. Also discovered that Mimeo:Print Your memories & Mimeo Photo are the same exact app…. Outside of that, it’s simple to use and somewhat convenient 👍 ### 4/5 — Intuitive Calendar Customization App *2023-11-26, version 4.5.3* Calendar customization is intuitive and changes/edits are easy. It would be beneficial if you could order a reduced cost product to review/edit before making a commitment to order multiple calendars. Disappointed that Motif did not offer a Black Friday or cyber Monday deal or at least offer a quantity discount (I ordered 28 calendars) and/or free shipping. Photos wouldn’t load easily had to keep re doing them then suddenly some disappeared when I returned to carry on the project.Never had a problem in the past? When I went to payment that wasn’t straightforward I should have still been on as a customer but had to reregister then my card had to keep redoing the card number all very distressing . Got there in the end but a bit put off this time. I like Motif photo books for the good finish and quality nice packing and colour quality. You will spend hours building your book just for images to disappear from the book, or from the app’s library altogether. And forget about customer service. We appreciate your patience and understanding. -M ### 1/5 — Save yourself the frustration *2023-10-20, version 4.5.1* Motif/Mimeo is an utterly dysfunctional app. Avoid at all costs to save your hair and maintain healthy blood pressure ### 1/5 — I wouldn’t recommend. *2023-09-15, version 4.4.0* After spending a considerable amount of time creating a sizable photo book - I found that the project does not work interchangeably between iOS devices, the changes and edits I made on my iPhone did not update on my iPad 😡 then I was locked out of my account on both devices my email was unrecognized. The extra weird thing is that even though the app icon was visible on my home screens on both devices, it does not show up in my settings>list of apps- this is weird. Also customer service is non existent. So goodbye Motif- DELETED MY PROJECT- WASTE OF TIME. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — My 7th Photo Book with Motif! Love it! *2026-04-24, version 5.1.0* I find Motif incredibly easy to use and even fun to assemble my photos and text into long lasting memories. It is my go to photo book program when returning from a trip! I can’t recommend it enough. ### 5/5 — Staggeringly beautiful *2025-12-23, version 4.9.2* I have been making calendars for our family (adult children and grandchildren) for many years. I finally mastered how to do it. It might just be me (age 78) but now I have the knack of it, I find they are very easy to create. The results are staggeringly beautiful. The photos are very clear. The layouts are easy to change. This year I made a general family calendar for everyone (7 copies) and one of my garden through the seasons, just for me. Anytime I have had any issue, customer service is fast and efficient to respond and resolve. I would never look elsewhere for my calendar or coffee table printing needs.
