### 2/5 — Cumbersome to use and misses the mark

*2017-09-05, version 5.0*

Starts recording immediately when you launch the app as soon as it detects motion. There should be a start stop function. It doesn't record as long as it detects motion, you need to set a record length. This doesn't seem well thought out. If I'm trying to catch an animal that goes in the detection area quickly, it seems it will record for the set record length until it detects motion again. I find it too difficult to use to be useful at this time.

### 2/5 — Not good for monitoring

*2016-04-04, version 4.3*

It works as concept but far away from my need. Even if I set high sensitivity it won't detect small moving objects at all

### 3/5 — needs delete all

*2012-01-31, version 1.7*

The app is great but I need a delete all option instead of choosing them one at a time.

### 1/5 — Wth is this !?$&

*2011-07-24, version 1.4*

I wasted 3$ on this im 12 and this is a peace of crap all the comments are fake they are probably is the same peraon who made the app dont waste ur money!!!

### 1/5 — Lame Joke App!

*2010-03-31, version 0*

Wow, All fake reviews!!!!!!!!
Convinced me to buy, I am dissapointed in this incredibly lame and worthless joke app!

### 3/5 — Updated Review: It works, but it's tricky. [Was - Does not work (yet?)]

*2010-01-14, version 0*

Updated Review (version 1.1):

Worth the price. If improved, worth more. (I'd pay for an upgrade with the added feature of image export!) Foremost improvement would be to document the application!

The UI is tricky to get to work. If you immediately start monitoring the camera, it looks like it works, but when you stop, the app just quits. That had me confused, and there was no documentation to say otherwise (not even on their web site).

The trick seems to be to press the 'i' carefully (if you miss, it starts to monitor the camera, as above). That brings up the options, of which 'Trigger Recorder' has the default of 'OFF', so when first installed, the application will not be recording images nor sending email notifications. Set Trigger Record to ON, and voila! The next time it runs, you get motion detected image captures! IT WORKS! YAY!

Deleting images requires an unusual, uncommon UI. Swipe right-to-left across the thumbnail of an image group to reveal a delete key. (More usual would be the 'edit' button at the top of the list revealing the red circle enable-delete keys with a delete button for confirmation, but oh well.) There does not seem to be a way to delete unneeded images from a set of captured images, nor can one easily exit the image review process - you can't return until you've watched to the last image. (Or maybe there is more non-obvious UI awaiting discovery).

Cleaner UI would make first time users happier. Most missed feature is image export.

Original Review (same version 1.1):

Running on a new iPhone 3GS, the motion detect bar reacts to movement, but after an hour in a busy room, no photos, no video. Nothing.
No documentation on the web site, either.
Tapping the (i) quits the application. I would have expected info? settings?
However, the concept is cool. Has anyone seen this version work?

### 3/5 — It works...

*2009-11-01, version 0*

Here's the deal. The app works fine. It still needs some additional work but it does what it says it does. For those looking for your pics in the camera roll they are not stored there they are stored in the app itself in the info/settings area in the last field at the bottom of the screen.

There is room for improvement like it should store them on your camera roll too and It should allow you to delete photos via a password protected format if you do not want to keep them.

You should also make it so it is silent as it snaps pics from motion, and if it could also record what they are looking at in the phone itself so you know exactly what apps were tampered with it would be a great app. I look forward to first update to see how designer improves functionality. This could easily be a 5 star app with the above mentioned enhancements.

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2009-10-26, version 0*

Too difficult to get to options. Record time is way too long, need options or 5 secs, etc. Worthless when you get 20 minutes of nothing.

### 3/5 — Nice start

*2009-10-14, version 0*

Works as advertised.

Makes a small video that you can restart but can't stop. I don't see a way to export pics or vids.

Still needs work. Hope to see a better upgrade soon.

Needs the following:
Save to cam roll.
Export.
Stealth mode.

Motion cap seems stable. Nice interface.

### 1/5 — Not ready for prime time

*2009-10-13, version 0*

Rushed to market? Don't know, but it's not working as advertised. On a new 3GS, when the app is opened it seems to take a pic every 2.5 seconds even when the camera lens is covered and the motion detection bar is showing zero. Notice I said "seems to take a pic"? Yeah, about that....It makes the shutter sound like a picture is being taken, but none ever show up on the camera roll. Even when enough motion is introduced to clearly snap a pic. No pics, no how.

So, logical thing to do is visit the Senstic web site for support, right? Well good luck, 'cause "Motion Detector" isn't listed as one of their iPhone products, nor listed in their forum, at least as of the time of writing of this review.

So bottom line: It doesn't work at all for me and there's no support on the Senstic web site. Wasted $3.

### 1/5 — Trying to scam you

*2020-03-30, version 5.0*

If you bye The app it may be done but DO NOT ENTER ANY OF YOUR ICLOUD OR EMAIL INFO THEY ARE TRYING TO SCAM YOU AND STEAL YOUR MONEY!!!!

### 1/5 — SECURITY RISK FOR PHISHING

*2019-04-19, version 5.0*

This app requires entering one’s personal email and the email password to get to one’s actual email server, such as Google, in order to send messages, and it doesn’t allow you to do that via the secure GMail protocol!

This is a serious data risk and utterly not fine by app developers!

I WAJT A FULL REFUND NOW!

### 1/5 — It's Junk

*2013-07-24, version 2.2*

No matter which combinations of settings are used, this app does not work on an iPad 3. There is no way to contact the company that made this app as the support email address on their website doesn't accept mail. Clicking on the Report a Problem link takes you to an advertisement for another of their products.

What a waste of money. Run away! Run away now!

### 1/5 — Review

*2013-06-09, version 2.2*

Not worth $1.99. Actual motion detection is not very sensitive even with high sensitivity on. Email is .JPG only not .MP3. One minute recording wastes a lot of memory space and creates many dead videos.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2013-04-08, version 2.2*

Works when it wants to

### 1/5 — Poor app

*2012-08-06, version 2.1*

I feel I wasted my money, I bought VM Alert for cheaper and it works better IMO although VM is stills only but it keeps snapping as motion continues. This app says pictures and video but it seems it's video only.

### 1/5 — Does not record audio

*2012-06-07, version 2.1*

How are you supposed to spy on your girlfriend if you can't hear what she's saying!

### 1/5 — Junk

*2012-05-07, version 1.8*

Absolute waste of money. The free motion sensor software that comes with your 10 year old pc webcam is 10x better. Other reviews give specs over points.

### 1/5 — terrible app

*2012-04-28, version 1.8*

wasted money. does not record. does no email. doesn't do
anything. the built in camera and photo app are
more
useful than this disgrace of an app. shame
on the designers.

### 1/5 — Can't get it to work with gmail

*2011-11-06, version 1.5*

Can't get it to work with gmail

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Just what I needed!!

*2015-09-30, version 4.2*

I was looking for a cheap way to find out which one of my three cats was urinating on the carpeting. I wanted to be able to catch them in the "act". I didn't want to spend a lot of money on surveillance cameras so I was really happy when I found this app that allowed me to use my iPad as a camera. I wanted motion detection because I didn't want to go through hours of video tape. It even sent me still photos by email whenever the camera detected some motion. Then I could go back to the iPad and view the video that it took if it was one of the cats in the still photo. So simple to use. I highly recommend this app if you just need some photos and video caught by motion detection. It also has an option to start videotaping when there is a sound. But I didn't need that. Filled the bill for me!

### 5/5 — Really good

*2013-11-24, version 3.0*

It works exactly as it should be lots of settings, just need to add arm button so it doesn't record as soon as it starts up xD

### 5/5 — works great

*2012-04-03, version 1.8*

i set it up to detect which cat was the one causing problems. it captured it perfectly.

### 4/5 — Wildlife filming

*2010-12-28, version 1.3*

This is exactly what I need for getting wildlife close-ups. The app is well thought out, easy to understand, easy to use, and does what it advertises.

### 4/5 — Hammer

*2009-12-30, version 0*

Works great! Takes a little getting used to. Drag on stored images to delete. Biggest draw back is that images can't be exported. When that is available, I would rate it at five stars.

### 4/5 — Seems to work as promised

*2009-10-11, version 0*

Seems to be working...I wasn't to sure about it before I downloaded it..especially for 3 bucks..but it's working good on my 3g ..wish I had the 3gs to see the video feed..only draw back seems to be the 4 sec delay between photos...but as they said Its do to the hardware...

### 3/5 — Motion detector doesn't work on my 10.2 iPhone.

*2017-02-01, version 5.0*

Great ideas for features, but couldn't get it to work on iPhone 10.2. I tried selecting the area for motion, but it rises up 10% on the detection screen. So I made it lower to compensate for that. Only records or sounds alarm when I move the phone. Reset motion to whole image and restarted. It seems to detect motion in the levels, about 30%, but won't record unless I move the phone. Also, why isn't there an on-off activation button to arm/disarm the recorder? The only way I can stop it from triggering and recording while I'm trying to work on the settings is to shut down the app and restart.
Requests: if a working version gets updated, I would like the ability to record less than 1 minute, and the ability to have more than 3 sensitivity levels. Maybe just a line to let us enter the variable ourselves.

### 3/5 — Ok

*2013-08-04, version 2.2*

Not sensitive enough.

### 3/5 — Decent

*2012-04-19, version 1.8*

Directions on how to use this application would be nice.

### 3/5 — Could Use Some Improvement

*2012-04-03, version 1.8*

This is just what I was looking for and does the job, but there are are some issues. The recording time only records for 1 minute even if you have it set to 3 minutes. I would prefer it if this setting could be set to any time duration the user wants verses limiting to three preset time intervals. This app doesn't record sound, which I didn't find out about until after my purchase. It would make sense to have an option for this.
